Default Shift Points

@ harshit.d, Parth:

Shift Points are rpm points at which shifting allows (at least in theory) achieving of maximum acceleration. Shift points are calculated using various parameters like rpm, horsepower, torque, gearing, etc. (many big bikes have a programmable shift light that tells the rider when its time to shift)

You can tryout the shift points given in my second post. However, be very careful and do it only in a controlled environment. Safety first and always !!!

Forgot to add: Factor in the 10% of Tachometer error.

*how do u all remove the fairings??i din find the appropriate tool to open it in my tool kit..
*Does any 1 use the race stand??(dont know what exactly its called),how much is it??
*How often do u clean your chain??and using what??
*The last time i checked my milage it was 37km/l not accurate though..is it a good milage??
1st - No it doesn't harm the engine, though running in should be done on the recommended engine oil and after that I think your good to try other options
2nd - the L- shaped tool in the Kit is the one you require to work on the fairing.
3rd - I dont use the racing stand personally, but here at a showroom in delhi its for 1500Rs. I use the RX main stand instead.
4th - I clean it once in a month or two, depending upon how much its ridden. I clean it with Kerosene and an old toothbrush. For Lubrication I use the Motul chain lube.
5th - AFIK, its a decent mileage. The most of the R15s give near 40kmpl. I get the same myself.

Thanks bro. I hope I'm not being too blunt, but what is the source of this info?? First hand riding experience or some other??

The R15 fared amazingly well in the Kodachadri trip. The radiator leaked during my Hampi ride. It started dripping and I did 500 KMs after I noticed it. The problem was because the horn mount on to the radiator is just a pressing and there is no welding involved. Many R15's radiators leaked for no apparant reason and all of them at the horn mount. May be due to the fact that we have to use a lot of horn in India. Yamaha replaced the leaking radiators.

That's the reason why the new bikes have the hornmounted on the chassis.

Ah, thanks for bringing it up da.

Here is some theory for you to chew upon. Do your math then.
Shift Points - Sport Rider

BTW, instead of asking like that multiple times you could have searched for it on the net.

You are welcome.
I have a few questions:
1. I'm hearing the radiator fan turn on every other day when I ride back home from office about 45 mins.in peak traffic, most of which is crawling in 1st gear. Is this normal? The coolant level is full.
2. Is there any other place to check whether coolant is actually flowing or not? I remember Vibhanshu's bike showing full coolant level but overheating real bad-the diagnosis was coolant was not actually flowing. Mine is not like that, only in heavy traffic.
3. About the horn, is it possible for old R15 owners to get the new horn mounting onto the frame? Does this involve any welding etc.?

2009 models. Remember the Bright Red, Yellow and Stickered Black bikes? The Horn mount changed from then.

To my knowledge your fan switching on is perfectly. That is the situation when it switches on. It hardly switches on when the bike is in decent in momentum. Remember, past 3-4 weeks temperature in Hyderabad has been going up.

Abother place to check the coolant level is the radiator. You have to open up the RHS fairing, open the radiator cap and then check. Do this only when the engine is cool.

That needs a welding job to the chassis. There are a few other places you can possibly mount the horn(s). Bring it up when we meet or call me. I am feeling lazy to explain it in words

@naveen1491 - I never saw the bike's engine, was curious to see it and wanted to check the coolent level..

@HydBiker - thanks..and sorry i don't know much about engine oils..i just guessed v could get 15w40 fully synthetic oil..i'll be changing after my second service i guess..
I got only 1 L shaped metal rod with which i can remove parts like muffler guard, muffler caps etc..i'll ask dealer about it..Is the rx main stand direct fit??i'll be needing it only when i wash my bike or lube it..

Lastly my batteries positive terminal is eroded,i mean some green residue is formed.Tried to remove its bolt but couldn't..Is it the same with u all??and which stock battery were u all provided with??
