every FI's suffers from this...

FI's having a notchy gearbox for sure....
i don't remember conciously blipping, probably because it's second nature to me now esp when riding hard, but i do know that it's very hard to clutchless downshift on the fi (which you shouldn't anyway) without blipping or finally pulling in the clutch. but when using the clutch there's really no need to blip to downshift. clutchless upshifts are always spot on, though they do require a bit more pressure on the lever than a bike with a smoother 'box and also the revs shouldn't have dropped too much below the powerband.

I've never had any issue with gear shifting like you've mentioned. When i mentioned that it's not the best gbox in the industry i meant it's not as smooth as say a honda, but i've never felt it to be the least bit notchy. It's definitely better than many pulsars i've ridden. I would suggest checking out your 'box and clutch mate, coz afaik it aint a standard char....

i never tried clutchless downshift (same reason as urs i thought it might damage the plates and the 'box) but ya i'm constently into clutchless shifts at high RPMS(7500-10000) and it's way toooo smooth that way...

due to my gearbox thing i went to the showroom and tried 2 new FI's with the same with clutch and without clutchless shifts and i still feel it's notchy...(requiring more pressure at low RPM's,making clanking noice but it does have the "FEEL" i wanted outta it, so m not complaining...)

but this not getting to the neutral i mentioned after comin to a hault in gears was present...

but ya that 1 to 2 shift creates prob sometimes....

well my 160RTR only have some rough vibrate between 4750-5500rpms...beyond that, it's just some smooth vibration like FZ150 (V-Ixion)..

of course it will vibrate..since the crankshaft is lighter than any usual bike..make it lighter and u'll get more vibration..

Hi All,

It been a long wait that we all had for getting our hands on the all new Apache RTR 180 (Code named Menace). And mark my words after having hands on this machine I really felt that it was worth waiting for this machine and my sweet little wild-child. What else can one ask from a good bike other than what TVS has already given to us, when I went for buying this bike I was actually keeping lot of high expectations (everybody knows why), we expectations were as follows:

1. Fastest in it's class
2. Best handling in it's class or rather in any class
3. Low pricing
4. Value for money
5. Best sporty ride

I actually got all of them and not only that I would say I got what was not in my expectations list as well and that was some beauty upgrades. Well befoer going to buy the bike I actually done some survey of other bikes as well. Everybody knows that I always have a soft corner for TVS Machines, but that did not made me biased to buy this bike. I looked for other bikes, one was by all far means was a better looking bike, what do I do with the bike which can not fulfill my thurst of power, it gives me only 150cc and 13-14bhp power with a pricetag higher than for what I got my bike on road. Then the other contender was actually giving better top speed with not much of the price difference with bit more power and CC added to it, but then I thought will this also give me the handeling that I was as I always loves to do lot of hill rides which actually require precise handeling which actually not avaialble in that machine, also the initial pickup of RTR was far better than what I am comparing with. Hence I decided why not to buy a machine which fulfill my all needs, with a little sacrifice of looks whhich I anyways not hungry of and little bit of more CC and power which actually can not fulfuill my needs of cornering on the hills.

Well! all the above comparisons were done as per my own point of view, people might differ from my viewes, but that's ok

Yes the bike was looking damn awesome in white color when I saw it in flash in the shwroom, however looking at the number of bikes available in the same color in the showroom, I just thought over it gave a second thought to it and decided to buy something which was not that much readily available in the showroom and that was a Titanium Grey colored bike with Matt finish on it. Damn it looks so mannly when you actually ride on it. Yeah no doubt that White color was damn so appealing but then it was giving more of the feeling of propr sports bike (which it actually is meant for) but I wanted something that I can ride in all moods.

Well, that was how I ended up buying a Titanum Grey Bike. Now let's move on to the ride experience. As soon as I got my hands on my bike it felt like the bike is saying common let's race, it was actually bit hard for first few red lights for me to keeep the front weel down while looking for a perfect launch each time at the red light. Well, but that was expected out of it, soon I was in the habit of the bike I was able to tam the 17 horses in the bike. It was not that easy to stop myself of pulling the bike to it's extent but what can I do when my bike requires a proper running in, I knew that I should not ride it above 50kmph mark. My first few 100 kms gone like I was struggling jail and I was bounded with chains and I can't run faster when I know I actually can do far far better. Still my thurst was defeated in front of my love for my new bike. I actaully controlled myself for those 500 kms till the time I havent got my first service done. People might not believe that I have already completed a very lucky figure of 786.00 kms on my bike in just 6th day of my ownership with the bike. Now everybody can imagine who involving this bike is, that at least I did not want to get down of the bike any moment of the day, I was going to office, to the market, to the neighbour's place, to my friend's ppalce all over only on my bike. Now as my bike has already got the first service done I went a small ride to Manesar with all my old friends and my dear XBHP members, that ride was real fun. I was actually supposed to keep my speed low but once we hit the NH8 I could not resist my self of pulling bike at time, the top that I have achieved on my speedo on that ride was 125kmph but for very short time (I would suggest other friends not to do the same with there bikes in running in period). Mind my words the rollon torque is damn so good that at any given gear if you pull the throttle you will actually find that power delivery to your bike. Attaining the speed of 100 on rtr 180 is like game of kids (once proper running in is done), on the ride as well I attained the speed of 125kmph in no time.

Well as of now I can only say that the bike all what you need of a bike, please mark my words once you ride you will actually feel the difference of RTR 180 and any other bike in it's class. How it will perform on long routes, i'll post only once I do my first touring on it. Till then enjoy menacing on your RTR 180 and those who still have not got the hands on this bike, would definetly recommmend to do so.

Will put some pictures in my next post. Cliked with 1.3mp phone camera so please spare me for the clarity of the picks.

man....u seem 2 b in deep love vid d bike.........but i'm still waiting 4 a full-on review........on performance, handling, mileage, braking & more........as i'm plannin 2 buy it myself in d next mnth...........
