Default New RTR

Hi Everyone,

This is Arvind from Mumbai. I got my new RTR 180 ( white) about a month back and had the first servicing yesterday. This is my first bike and it musch of a stoke of luck I got the white one.

I was pretty enamoured by the RTR white and after a lot of head scratching ( and waiting for a new karizma ) I ended up with the RTR. Actually I always wanted the RTR not sure why I kept waiting. Well I was pretty lucky getting the white one, with everyone reporting a "non guarenteed " 1 month + booking time. One lucky call to Innovative TVS , resulted in them telling me that they had one piece. They promised to hold it till the evening if I could make it. I had to go from Goregaon to Bhandup ( pretty long and windy route) and just before they were to shut shop i managed to rech and book the bike. This was much to the disappointment of another customer, who reached the shop 5 mins later [].

Anyway its been a interesting month so far, and the bike going good. Done about 330 kms so far. I had my first servicing yesterday at a new TVS authorized service center in Malad. The bike wasn't washed well when I went to pick it up. Managed to get it done again.

Also they said they used castrol ( not sure which particular varient). They said TVS did endorse it, I didn't believe him much but had no choice. Any recommendations for the next service.

Also when i reached home I realised there was a long scracth on the Exaust Muffler[]. Guess i can't do much now. Any thoughts on how I can cover it ?

Also I wanted to better understand the run in. I have usually kept the bike with in 50 and a max of 4k rpms. I occasionally ( 5-6 ) times revved the engine to 6-7 k. is that okay ?

Try to get the servicing done by innovative TVS next time. Abd regarding scratch, u can cover it with some sticker or so. If u are sure that the scratch is by service centre, and want to register complaint, talk to Mr. Rangwala, who is mumbai region's incharge. mail me on nox2505@gmail.com for his number.

Does anyone here know RTR180's Main and idling jet is of what size?

Mobil 1 is also very good engine oil. Which will make ur bike very smooth. Other option is Motul 3000 V. Cost around 200 Rs..

Question Confused ...

I am 100 kms away from my first service for the RTR 180.
But I am totally confused which oil to go for.
Motul brand is unavailable in my city.
So, which engine oil is recommended best ? Is it the TVS TRU4 or the CASTROL (Plz. tell me which product from this company to go for).
If any other brand is advised, plz. mention it. I'll try to search for it in my city.
Thanks in advance ...
P.S.- I don't want to go for synthetic or semi-synthetic oils. Plz. recommend pure mineral oils only.

Yes.Strictly Mineral Oils For 3000-3500kms.I am damn damn sure ,TVS-TRU4 is not at all a competent product for power bikes like Apache's. I am expecting Valvoline 20W40 Oil is Good;Another Option is Obviously Castrol.Any Other Recommendations?

@johnjojo08: Are those Mineral Oils?

PS:AnyOne Knows Can We Buy Engine Oil Of Our Choice During Free Services?

the clip ons can be adjusted in three ways for that you have to open the silver cover nestled between the clip ons but the original setting provided by the company is bse t cuz the setting provided by TVS is not that good...dont know about the 180 though...

Well thanks rennycornelius,

I really want to change clip-on setting as it doesn't suit me.
may be because I am 6'2" tall.

Go for Elf Moto4 Gold.The harshness of the engine reduced to some extent after i switched on to this oil!!

Castrol Active 4T is also another option you should look for.

@mpasanthosh

Congratulations for your new purchase!!

Activ 4T is a semi-synth oil.
