As they say beggars can't be choosers!!! When buying a used bike you buy what is available and not necessarily what you want.Originally posted by avhad sitaram View Post

Hahahaha pure desi style man.
Lines are so practical , we may beggars but should wanna know what to beg.
Which models do i search is important for me , i dont wanna buy anything i dont know .
If you can tell me few models then i will able to search pinpoint. If i dont get the desired one then could think
about extending the present budget.

Re: How to select a bicycle according to your needs and budget?
Hi,
planning to buy a cycle for fitness( weight loss)
budget: 15000-20000 (excluding accessories)
height: 5\'10
weight: 100kgs
road condition: Tarmac and some bad chennai roads.
i m confused between a hard tail or a rigid frame. I liked Montra 1.1 since I have no knowledge about bicycles... I m not able to choose one.
thanks!

A rigid frame hybrid would be the most suitable for you. In your budget you would get Montras, Firefoxes and LAs. If you can increase your budget by a bit then i would suggest these bikes -Originally posted by fel208 View PostHi,

Re: How to select a bicycle according to your needs and budget?
The Monk,Can you suggest me a Cycle that is under Rs.12K Maximum.I drive 15-20 KMs everyday and the roads are totally bad for 50% as They are just gravel,Sand and Wet Mud with lots of rocks and Stones. Also with some Climbing too ! Other 50% will have good roads.I already owned a LA Soveriegn Spark SP Black edition and sold her.I was totally struck by the Build quality and reliable owership she gives.I kept her for 8 years and had to part up with her because whatever well-maintained,I could sense the need for a new one and Dad also accepted he wanted to buy one.So I went to the LA Showroom and saw Leopard 26 and the xBicycle Camber 26.Both are very good cycles but Camber was much cheaper at Rs.9,170.She had dual Discs,Front Suspension and Gear.I found both to be brilliant in Build and part quality.WAY improved over my ride. One big thing is that the Leopard has Click-Shifters which feels best for me and KENDA Tyres again one of the best in Cyles but the Camber only has that Rotate type Shifters which is very sluggish and rubbery to use and also Local Tyres in which Grip is nowhere near the KENDA Ones especially on the Bad roads. Also that Leopard is another 4K costlier and has become outta
my budget and is it wise to spend 4K more on the Leopard ? So my Requirements will be Click-type shifters,Budget strictly under 12K,Good quality Parts and Build Quality,Good Control and Cushioning over bad roads and finally Looks ! Hercules,BSA and Hero are not considered for Obvious reasons and given the fact that I have used anLA Soveriegn Spark for 8 Years and getting even a Brand new Hercules will be a Downgrade ! Thanks[My Motorcycle]

I would suggest you to Keep It Simple.Originally posted by TVSian View PostThe Monk,Can you suggest me a Cycle that is under Rs.12K Maximum.I drive 15-20 KMs everyday and the roads are totally bad for 50% as They are just gravel,Sand and Wet Mud with lots of rocks and Stones. Also with some Climbing too ! No rear suspension, no disc brakes and no obnoxious random pseudo-downhill frame. Stay away from all that and buy a nice clean frame. MTB if you want, preferably rigid frame if not then a Hardtail.
I haven\'t seen these bikes in the flesh, but the two models you have mentioned i checked out on the website. If it were my money, then i wouldn\'t spend on either.
Why don\'t you try this - Buy-Cycling-Cycles-Mountain-Bikes-Online-In-India|Vtt-Rockrider-300-Men|Btwin. A simple bike with no unnecessary frills. It will do the job and then some more. It is a steel frame thus will be hardier and more capable of taking abuse, though it will be heavier as compared to an aluminium alloy. It is also within your budget.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Guys,How is the BSA Mach ? Dad likes that cycle and he is thinking of buying it.I am seriously worried because of the Thin Rims and tyres it has.And Roads also got fixed all of a suden and now almost every road is good but not Much better.Still big potholed ones are there.[My Motorcycle]

BSA Mach is awesome, I am going to buy one, FYI, there is a BSA-Hercules showroom at P.S. Sivaswamy Road.Originally posted by TVSian View PostGuys,How is the BSA Mach ? It doesn\'t require much effort to pedal because of the thin tyres and rims (opposite to the LAs which have broad tyres).
And hill climbing are child play.
Get the one without drop-down handlebars (this one has good gears and has v-power brakes) and be happy!

AFAIK, Thin tyres have lesser chance of getting punctures.
And hill climbing are child play.
