ALL of em. and it's not a problem actually. it's part of having a "big" bike.

      simply put...

      low RPMs = tandoori thighs

the bike needs to heat up to a certain temp (103/4 to 108 degrees C)
for fan the to kick in.

and slow RPMs aren't usually enough to take the temp high enough for the fan to start up.
(atleast not before you feel the need to pull over, pull down ur pants & fan urself )

once you're going fast enough for the bike to heat up enough...
the temp sensor does it's sensing... and the radiator fan kicks in...
which consequentially... makes the engine temp go down.

so it's... go fast(er)... to heat up... to cool down.
to keep your thighs at room temp.

things are usually manageable once the radiator fan is on for a while.

      .
ok...so the radiator won't kick in untill the temperature increases and when it kick-in, it will reduce the temperature...OK

so, in low speeds, the heat is enough to get roasted balls and tandoori thighs ( nice comparison ) but not enough to start radiator.

just out of curiosity i am asking, can't we change the temperature sensor settings or change the sensor, or change the electronics controling unit setting to start the radiator early......or can't we simply switch on the radiator by some means....

you mean to say almost all big faired bikes from all manufacturers face this problem??

little difficult to digest....anybody else can confirm...
For these bikes to heat up is as normal as it is for fake boobs to be spotted at a Las Vegas Casino. summer or no summer..the bike will heat up if u are stuck in traffic.
Princessirohi, radiator FAN kicks in...not the the radiator itself
And no u cant play around with the sensor to make sure that the fan kicks in early..even if u do that what good can it do to you..the very source of the heat generation is the engine and it's gonna generate that heat not matter when the fan kicks in. Having dual fans and dual radiators may help(like the hayabusa) but making the fan kick in earlier will mean its on all the time and u r draining your battery all the time.
On a different tangent...if your wire fuel mixture is very fuel rich then u can reduce the temperatures. Power commander 5 has that facility.

You... dear sir... have the heart of a poet.

On a serious note... why would anyone want to ride a 650CC "in city traffic" on a summer day?

Take it out to a highway or a track and have your fun there. The heat build up would be easily dissipated and your bike would also be happy.

@melroy: what's your personal experience with this

ZigWheels says "The throttle response is awfully jerky with an on/off feel even with slightest variation on the throttle grip.
And as the speed increases, the jerkiness due to the fuelling stops being just a twinge and grows to be a major quandary playing havoc with your lines, judgement and hence, safety."

ok....but you mean to say at low speeds radiator fan does stops but radiator pump is still running and it is still circulating water/coolant through the engine, only fan is not working.??

                      is it like this...

Yes the power delivery is bit jerky but also too much FUN too.Twist the throttle and you are launched ahead like a ROCKET.
After some more riding will take it to 7,000rpm.

hey a quick fact doing a wheely or stoppy puts less strain on bike than doin a burnout where you strain the engine ,tire ,brakes etc...
