  • someone who rode both R15 and FZ16,
can u pls tell me which one feels more powerful under 5000 rpm?
im thinking to swap my R15 for FZ16...for riding comfort related reasons.
1.I didnt get used to leaning forward riding posture.Causes pain in my arms if i ride more than 1 hr.Especially my wrists n palm.
2.cant effortlessly take the foot on and off the foot peg in stop and go traffic.
3.Had to change gears quite often.
4.gear lever has to go all the way up in order to shift gears down=>unable to shift down multiple gears quickly.Toe shifter is higher than the foot peg a little more than it should be.
5.Handle bar turn radius doesnt let me take an U turn with a single swift motion.Had to do in 2 steps.

      hey superkartz,

I rode both the bikes and i felt Fz16 is more powerful under 60km/hr than R15 .. currently I own Fz16(Red) and all i can say is that it's the best in class bike from yamaha.. no doubt abt it. if really want to swap ur R15 with Fz16 the go ahead dude!! no second thoughts buddy..

      • @Coldfingers : dont accept if you suspect the bike is used as a demo bike :x .I know how these dealer will brag about the nonsenses.if you suspect ,let it go out of your hand.

6.5 years back ,I had the chance of selecting my suzuki fiero among 100's of fiero's with cochin motor's edappally .

remember ,after you sign off the paper saying you are satisfied and bought that bike ,you cant swap easily. so ,either wait for the arrival of next lott of more bikes to hit.that will be fine

@superkartz: how many kms in what kind of traffic do you have to travel everyday?

Because you are actually going from a mini-sportsbike to a street bike.

          • i got my bike on 20th..the colour of the bike is lava red one.
first of all i took the bike to a temple and conduct the puja.
after that i start the disection of the bike.
the bike looks fantastic since 4 daYS of riding people totally harrassed me about it's price, company, power, speed, mileage, everything they saw in the bike...i almost tired of answering the mass.
i took the bike to the highway first.it's nice to ride @ 4-5000 rpm as it's new one not to make engine mess.heavy torque,100% handling, seating position is too good for the rider not for the pillion, sound is excellent like a sports bike which one i listened mostly on tv..damn sexy tyres.i almost bent is till my knee touches the road it shows no sign of slipping.the grip is a boon, front disc brakes are powerful than other bikes..
last but not least some more demand on this bikes are:
            1-a kick
            2-a leg guard-
            3-no saree guard plz
            4-rear disc brakes
5-pillion seats had to some more custioned

            • A query

              hello All,
We (Delhi XBHPians) are planning a short trip. I want one of my friend to come along with me. he owns an FZ16. He has completed 500kms. I think 1st serv is due at 1000kms. Can he ride at a speed to 70kph +? I think this would be the avg speed during the G2G.

Your friend need not worry about riding at 70kph+ as there surely would be riders to tag along with him; more so, since his FZ-16 is exclusive (not to mention spanking new!! )

I, for one, would surely tag along with him. Another member who would not ride at 70kph (or more) is Leon, that you can guarantee. So, yeah, there should not be any problems as such.

That would be the word to use at this point of time. The dealer in here is not giving away the bike, the bike had arrived to my town by Tuesday evening and said that he would distribute it by Thursday. But when I went to the showroom he said that it had been postponed to Friday as Thursday is not an auspicious day, this has been continuing and now he says that he would be delivering the bike only by Sunday.

I dont know what is happening, this is sick and they are seriously pissing me off.

One more thing is that they have got around 9 bikes and two are already doing test duty and they have only two red ones in the lot and one is a test bike and the other is a display piece. As i have booked a red one i am bemused as to which bike i would get the one used by others with the engine in bad shape or the one with scratches all over it.

Yamaha guys if you are seeing this this is serious as I have lobbied a lot to pay the money in cash for the past few days by leaving no stones unturned as my finances have gone wrong this time around.

My dealer is CAG Enterprises and i have paid the full amount to them.

                  Guys your gyan please
may be dealer does'nt have enough staff to do the PDI. make sure everything is in order and that the engine is having enough oil before taking delivery of your bike

Congrats @chickyheart. So probably you can answer my query... How much mileage can we expect. I had been longing for an RTR eFI, but with the TVS Showrooms in such a bad state (no mechanic is trained for FI), I finally had to cancel my plans of the RTR eFI. Now, the only option is the FZ 16. But if it gives a mileage less than 45, I would sure be cramped with my current finances. That is why the reason to enquire for the mileage.. hehehe....

Anyways, I had the first test ride of the bike today. Feels really awesome to ride. Very flickable in traffic and doesn't require too much of gear shifts. The toe shifting was a bit hard, but it may be due to the new condition of the bike. Had a decent ride of about 2-3 kms, and the bike felt very smooth. This is coming from one who has been a Honda (Dio) owner for the past 5 years, so you can guess the bike to be really smooth. Engine sound was almost at par with the Honda Unicorn, but in department of LOOKS, this is light years away from the staid workhorse Unicorn. It misses the hooliganism of the RTR, or even the Pulsars, but nonetheless, it was torquey enough to pop wheelies easily (not that i tried ) By far, one of the best bikes in the 150cc, just not as powerful as the RTR eFI. But still, it comes in those category of bikes that brings a smile when you swing your leg over it, and turn on the ignition.
As an xBhpian had pointed out to me, the rear tyre is really very thick, but the weight is low due to the low profile.
I had the test ride in the evening, and the console pod really looked cool. Don't know how it would look in the daylight though. Doesn't look like it would be unreadable in daylight. HIDs would have really helped as the stock bulbs weren't powerful enough, but decent for normally lit streets.
A leg guard is wanting, and as per the dealer, an off-market leg guard can be fit, but that might require removal of the vertical fins near the front.
Thats all I can think of right now...

hello friends, Got my fz16 yesterday eveng. I have done about 70 odd kms now. This is simply an Awesome bike, ride it to believe it. Then you will now may be this bike is cheap at 75k . Yeah I am enjoying all the attention it gets the best today was a honda city guy pulling the windows down and driving close to me to check out my bike for almost 100mts. My friend was like WTF honda city guy doing this..... i will write more about this bike in the ownership thread. as of now...
                            1. Smooth engine
                            2. the seating, the handle bar all perfectly positioned which gives you an awesome feeling.
                            3. excellent pick up
                            4. pillon seat is not as bad it is made out to be.

Hey now i am sure some people are upset, unhappy and disgruntled with the way some dealers are alloting the bikes...I had problems getting my bike. I was pissed off to see my dealer giving bikes to people way below me in the booking number. So for those people looking for whom to contact in Yamaha.. herez the info.

                            1. Call - 1800-180-1600 (do not if it works or not, have not checked)

                            Happy riding...

                              • FZ-16 First Ride

I had the opportunity to ride my friend's black FZ-16 yesterday. I have to admit the bike is gorgeous. He had just had it delivered and frankly, I think black is the most striking color in FZ. I had seen other colors but the black color looked just amazing. The first thing that came to my mind is "$hitz, that tank looks HUGE!!". The bike has a very staunch persona, and just sits there, like a bully. The fat front forks, fat tire makes it look even more of a brute from behind. My friend handed me over the keys to this baby-monster, and we set out for a short ride, at 5 30 pm towards Forum, the worst of the traffic time in Bangalore, especially as its Diwali season. Lets see how the LOTR handles where it belongs. Some noticeable things about the bike.

                                1) The bike sits very low. No tip-toeing in this bike, unless you're 5 feet high!

                                2) It has a very relaxed, wide, handlebar. Reminded me of the Daelim Magma handlebars that we had back in Nepal.

                                3) The bike feels utterly stable and light-footed. Sans footpegs and handlebars, this bike feels like a cruiser. You can crawl at idle in first gear throughout, without going zig-zag! The suspension felt a tad too soft for me, though, and I wouldn't know how it would handle itself in the flowing corners.

                                4) The throttle response is better than all carbed Indian bikes, even a RTR and a ZMA. I have ridden a spanking new RTR (though it was the 2007 version) and it doesn't have a throttle response as good as this.

                                5) Since the bike was fresh from the showroom, I couldn't exceed 45. So i could just see the low end poke in this bike, and I must say, it has a lot of grunt. Low end power is delivered throughout ALL the gears and it pulls decently from 2000 till 5000 (thats all i was allowed :P), and this coming from a 220 owner. I can definitely say it pulls better than ALL 150/160/180 ccs (including R15) in that range. I haven't tested it more than that, but I don't think it has a chance against RTRs/R15 past that.

                                6) Handling in traffic is a dream in this bike. The bike relatively short and light so you can zig zag your way in 30 kmph traffic. In tight squeezes its a bit of a problem, with the wide-ish handlebars playing spoilsport.

                                7) Oh yes, and the rear-view mirrors--->they work, that also, ,pretty well! :P:P . They are pretty wide set, so you can see New-York to London and everything in between!

                                8) On the way back from Forum, it was my turn to tail the bike, with my friend riding it. It looked beautiful from the back. The rear tires are FAT and they contribute a lot to its bully nature. And like most members here, even I thought it had a light in the Yamaha logo behind. But sadly, it's just a reflective sticker .

Here's the exact dialogue I had with a guy in a Stunner at traffic light:-

                                "Hey dude, nice bike....imported??"

"Its the Yamaha FZ-16. Made in India"

"Really, how much is it for then?"

                                "75000"

Then his jaws fell to the ground.

The pictures are there to be seen. It's not proper since it's taken during fading light with an N85, so pardon the lack of clarity.
