i am getting my hands on the samsung galaxy s i9000 in two weeks.... just used my friends for a week. its a very good product from samsung and the super amoled screen is just.....................beauty.

actually a demo piece is available in hyderabad...i have played with it for an hour or so...

the GOOD:

1)excellent camera..its being compared to some dslrs even
2)awesome video recording
3)with 3x zoom the images dont get pixillated or blurred
4)music application is on par with iphone if not better.
5)usb on the go is a great idea..just plug in your usb to access contents in it
6)hdmi and battery life is actually splendid..
7)the pictures in gallery move along with our finger..no more loading shown screen
8)strong built quality..even the display glass is stronger than iphone's


the BAD:

1)the homescreen doesnt move with our finger.its done intentionally so as the widgets wont be pressed accidentally.its good but kind of irritating for an iphone user like me

2)there is no auto correct feature in text messages
3)the in ear earphones are pathetic.i plugged the same earphones to my iphone and the music output is shit.so maybe we need alternative earphones.
4)loudspeaker doesn't have that bass effect..its kinda shrill with huge tempo
5)the touch experience is not the same as iphone's.its very very close but not the same...but its way better than any other capacitive screen nokia phone.
6)the phone did show some lag here and there...the nfs shift game took a lot of time to load where as it took just a few seconds in my iphone.


bottom line...

if you need an mindblowing camera and video recording phone with superb battery life,its n8 eyes closed..aside from that i dont see any other use for it as iphone excels in every other department such as applications,touch response and music

Confused! please Help

Hey Guys... going extensively through the 125 pages I have realised a couple of things... Majority of people are not a fan of Android O.S. Secondly One person's opinions on a specific model is not necessarily seconded by another user of the same model/handset.. Anyways Here's my situation...

I have two handsets BB Curve 8520 and SonY Ericsson W705 (dont ask me how i ended up with a SE W705).. I Am planning to replace both of them. One will be for purely taking calls... something cheap, durable and awesome like a Nokia 1100, 1200 (or even a 3310.. I still have a working piece.. my first ever handset ) etc... and other prefereably an Android Based Handset with HD/FULL HD Capabilities... I've been on the interweb and been further confused as not many phones come with HD/Full HD and Android... please help me select one especially their feedbacks if used will be more than appreciated.

Price Range maximum 25k
Basic Features:

Android Based, (looking for support for 3rd party softs hence the OS choice.. Symbian never EVER been a fan of it since every Nokia user I've come across has to mention software update/firmware upgrade atleast ONCE in their Conversation about the Nokia Phones...) Touch Screen, Big Screen (HD/FHD), A-GPS, Decent Camera, Good.. check that... GREAT Video/Music Quality, Support for Streaming Contents (Youtube etc..) Well Since I am used to plugging the BB in every day for charging, I'm looking for better battery performance to be liberated with the scourge of the /!\ LOW BATTERY /!\ Indicator on a daily basis... .


Question 2... Are Samsungs really Much better than what they used to be? never been a fan of them... Always was with SE but seems like SE is too lazy to get a fone out with Android 2.2 which is worth having!

I Dont know if it helps or not, I use MTNL and Vodafone(both Postpay)... MTNL cause of coverage, talk plans for STD/ISD (and someone telling me 3G is active and works fine.. which does not!) and Vodafone... well thats for the office folks..

Samsung Galaxy S is the Best Android Handset available in the Market.Samsung have really gone a step further.The Super AMOLED screen beats the shit out of any other screen in the market even the iPhone.With HD Recording and Internal memory of 16gb+ 32gb micro sd card capability.it is surely worth the money.
You just have use your phone efficiently with some applications such task killer which kills apps which are running in the background.
As the battery goes,On a heavy usage it will last you a day and normal usage 2 days max.Considering the large screen it is quite enough.This phone is not recommended if your not a geek cause these phone has so much to do with.SO many features.

If you want to go with Blackberry , u might wanna consider Blackberry torch 9800.

Go for N8, the next-best-thing from Finns... I currently own Wave but will suggest u to take Nokia. MRP is 26k change which is good seeing the specs it comes with esp 12mp with CARL ZEISS.

Wave & Galaxy S have best displays compared even to iPhone4 but still-photos are not up-to-the-mark in my Wave, recording is good for 720p though...

One more thing - ANDROID is the future, Nokia is already dying a slow-death.

I was not a fan of samsung either. Rather, my hands were forced to get the samsung wave for my wife for lack of other options I had in mind. But I must admit I am pretty impressed by its overall quality. I did a brief review couple of posts back.

As 'n4speed' mentioned above, The Samsung galaxy S will be a good choice. It closely matches the wave in specs with the exception of perhaps memory and screen size, where the galaxy's are bigger on both case. The bad news is, the galaxy s is much more expensive.

Personally, I'm a fan of android. Though there's a limit to how much I'm willing to pay for it. And in this case, the wave comes as an attractive bargain compare to galaxy s, even though the wave is running on Bada. With the exception of the OS, the wave can slug it out with the galaxy s toe-to-toe as the specs are almost identical.

Wave is One phone Which is most VFM phone out there.With features as good as galaxy S ,the price is just 16k.It had Bada OS which is new but it is also good.

Man, I paid 18.5k just a couple of days back from Croma in Mumbai . I could have got it for 500 less in another shop but I didn't fancy spending another 3-4 hours in traffic.

^^ sorry mate.The Price is actually 16.5k or 17k max.At vile parle,Alfa you can get all cellphones cheap.Anyways congrats on the new phone.

i got wave for 17.8k last wednesday........ it is out of stock from almost all stores........ the person from whom i bought the piece had the last piece left and he charged more.....

damn it was selling for 16.5k 1 week before........ and now its out of stock...... the reason is that Samsung is having shortage of super AMOLED displays and thus discontinued wave1 and will be launching wave 2 by november..........in india it will be in December or January.......

the phone is really awesome...... the screen (repeating 1000th time) is awesome...... it plays most avi files without any hassle..... only few 720p and 1080p files have problem due to bad encoding........ and few avi and mp4 files aren't having any codec support though most of the avi and mp4 files run easily on the phone............

the browser aint that good....... and stupid airtel gprs is annoying me much more...... for every 500kbs it displays a message and disrupts the browsing.......

regarding updates soon samsung will be giving bada os 1.2 update for wave1 which includes swype support....... which people say is very good.....

Wave can play 720p files without any problem.Bada OS is in development stage and dont worry the updates will come and it will clear all the problems !

@All: I have zeroed in on Nokia C6, getting a decent price in exchange for my current N79.
Please provide me user reviews on the same.
If there are some other mouth watering phones in the same price range, do let me know, I have still not purchased.

Poor service Blackberry India

I gave my blackberry bold 9000 to authorized blackberry service center i.e redington services and it has been one month since i even didnt know what is the status of my phone. i am really fed up of them and i will never ever buy a blackberry product again in my life.
