  • The pulsar 220 is in desparate need of better brakes... Joel should consider some 300mm petal disc assembly like he has for the r15... The 220 already have steel braided lines... Those petals can do wonders for the 220's braking... Will look damn hot too...

      |Bro, the front brakes of the 220 are more than enough.!! Have had many , trust me , many encounters and without which i wouldn't be alive to tell you this.
The rear brake can be improved a bit more.

      Cheers

Joel have 300mm petals for the r15 which makes it even better which already have the best brakes... So joel could atleast give 220 owners an option too... thats what i wanted to say... No offence to anyone, the 220 brakes are good but still could be better

The Duke has good brakes too..in fact, I would rate the Duke's brakes a bit better than the R15. My personal opinion...others are not obliged to agree/disagree.

            Totally Agree!!
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Also, we will have the 210cc bigbore for the P180 as well ready in about 2 weeks.

yes yes agree... The duke has stupendous stopping power...those anchors bite like there is no tomorrow... somehow i personally felt the r15 has a tad more lever feedback about whats going on at the wheels....more in the v1...

                  • The P180 bigbore upgrade to 210cc is the best way to make your old motor, a whacky monster. With more power, reliability and fuel efficiency over stock. Our own moderator has it!

Its ready and I've purchased both the big bore and the exhaust from Joel bro.
The thing is that I joined job from June 1, and delivery was later than that, and my job schedule is too busy, so couldn't install it as yet.

I should be able to install it by the coming Sunday/ Tuesday, and will soon open a thread about it too... You should expect some crisp pics and videos once all this happens. Will review it exhaustively later on, after running in the big bore.

All the stuff is in place, and you can see it below:

                      Let's hope everything goes fine.

                          • Long Review : FFE + Headworks + 230 cc Big Bore + 33mm Carb

Sorry guys but this is my first review so pardon me for any mistakes.

It was always that i wanted to go faster than probably every soul on the road . It was all okay till say about a 1.5 years back till when P220 was the king of the road . But with new entries like CBR 250 , Duke on the road there was a feeling to upgrade .It was a choice i had to make to either keep a 2-3 year old P220 or upgrade to a bigger faster
machine . Thats when i decided against upgrading to a bigger machine and hotrodding my steed .Contacted Joel Joesph and decided to get parts

                            March 2011 - FFE + Head works

I was one of the first person to get a DB Killer FFE in Mumbai . The feeling was very very
royal . Sent down the Head for changes .But then the trouble started . Got back the head and got the Head fitted with a local mechanic . Bike had all sorts of problems and even went dead a couple of times in the nights .Couple of mails to JOEL and he promptly replied on what could be wrong . Poor mechanic had screwed it . Got the bike to reddy (goregaon , mumbai) and he did a better fitting job .Took the bike for a spin
This was my first dose of performance with new FFE and Head works done . Bike got a bit smoother with added power but the main advantage was torque any gear any rpm the bike would not jerk . I enjoyed a lot with this steup on highways .
Moving along in the city in 5th gear became so easy . Highway overtakes of Truckies dint meant that i had to shift 3/4 gear . It meant opening of throttle in 5th only :-) . Wow so much relief . Suddenly i enjoyed using my bike a lot more . And to top it all the FE given had shot up by atleast 5 kmpl . On a group trip to Ganpatipule my bike returned a Astonishing mileage of 48 kmpl for me + pillion + 20 kg luggage , best amongst all P220/r15 we had .

With all going super nice with the setup I kept pestering Joel for further updates

                            May 2012 - 230 cc Big Bore + Mikuni 33 mm Carb

Once JOEL launched the big bore there was no looking back . I order one instantly along with with that joel recommeneded the new carb too . I was not financially prepared for the carb but somehow said a yes to joel for the carb too. Arranged for the finance and trasnferred the money to Joel . The long wait begun .Finally got my carb and the big bore . Having no idea of the how the bore works i took the big bore to Shreeram Bajaj in ghatkopar . Gave them the bigbore and carb . Just when i was to leave we realised the bore was damaged (Probably due to shipping) . It had a bent in the sleeve (i assume its called that ). The piston wasnt moving smoothly . Dissapointed i called up JOEL . He advised me to get it wooden hammered in place . Since it was a slight bent i
asked the SVC mechs to do it for me . But they simply refused . Finally got hold of a bike
mechanic known for his boring and porting . Just one small wooden hammer on the sleeve and the sleeve chipped . I was so surprised that a metal piece would chip that easily . With my big bore dreams shattered there , i called up JOEL . He advised me to returnt the big bore and he would send me the new one . I for one was very happy , JOEL dint ask a single question for the return . Felt like the loyalty as a customer paid back . Waited agonisingly for the new bore while the carb kept waiting at the rack .
Finally in may i got my big bore . Frustrated with limited know how of local mechs at
assembling the engine back onto the vechicle i desperately started searching for a good
mechanic who would do a clean job . After reading some post by JOEL K Raju i got the man . It was sushil (SMG customisation , thane) whom i contacted . Took an appointement of saturday and went down there . We got the big bore fitted , carb installed , re jetted the bike to karizma jets all in one day . For the first time i saw many other joelled bikes there . Was very happy .

Also met our fellow xbhpian Joel K Raju. Now not only is this guy super nice , but downright helpful . He towed me in town to get the oil too . For the first time i rode a already big bored P220 . I couldnt make out the initial difference , but the surge after 6k rpm was manical . Had a wide grin on my face after the test ride of a 230 cc pulsar :P .
Got my bike by around 7pm and came back home . Spent the next few days eating , sleeping on the bike since i had to run in the engine . Even in the run in (<5k rpm) it was evident that a beast was inside .
Got 750kms worth running in 4 days . Had small incident to open up my bike . Just was coming back from office at 1am . Coming from eastern express highway when i saw a KTM passing by me . I was doing a 60 kmph running in run and he was at 100 odd. Looked at my trip it showed 760 kms . Yayyyy i completed the running . By mistake did a WOT on 5th gear itself . Something just hit me . I felt i was being dragged by a force . Just looked at the speedo i was doing a 130 with KTM just metres ahead . Next we
had a signal at vikhroli . I signalled the KTM guy for a drag . since the highway was all
empty we started from standstill . Ready steady go . I could hear both the engine screaming . KTM guy probably did a hotter launch and took the lead from standstill . But the moment my bike passed 5k rpm . It was all over . My bike just surged ahead with so much authority . I have no clue if the KTM guy wasnt good or no but i could hear his engine clearly and also remembering he shifted a lot more than me . End of 1,2,3,4,5 i was all ahead . I couldnt help getting that huge smile on my face .I just thought the hassle was all worth it .
After that incident have covered over 2000kms with the setup . Its a hoot to ride . power after 5k rpm is manically . Even at 60kmph 5th gear with a WOT it gives a jerk .
City / Highway everything has become so much fun

Changes that my setup has got

                            - Ultra super smooth compared to a stock bike . After my frens took a spin the first thing
they said was how smooth the bike is
                            - Super power after 3k RPM and Maniac after 5k .
                            - Zigzagging thru peak traffic is lot more fun now since bike jumps at throttle opening .
                            - Driving a stock p220 feels like a 150cc now .
                            - Bike feels very powerful in the midrange
                            - Girlfriend complains a lot more in traffic. Since in 1st gear even minute throttle and bike jumps ahead.

For everyone looking to upgrade , please dont wait just got for it . Its VFM what joel is
offering . Your daily boring rides to office/college wil be so exciting .

@JOEL - A big big big thankyou from the bottom of my heart . Thanks a lot buddy for your constant hardwork to get us soul some magic sprinkled onto our daily rides . Office never looked so enticing . Hooked for further updates

@ Joel K Raju - it was really nice meeting you and thanks for all the help .

                            • I think it's time for my bike to get joelled
I can't afford all the goodies @ once, so it will be a step-by-step upgrade.
I don't want to go for FFE right away coz all my family members are against it, if i want the mods which should I go for first
