It seems some of us expected bajaj to launch a 250cc motorcycle. Why? I personally believe that creating a 200cc motorcycle is the right approach from bajaj as the first motorcycle in the series of motorcycles based on KTM engine. Creating the motorcycle of same cubic capacity with KTM 200 engine as the base would have less development cost and less risks for bajaj. A bigger engine would have increased the development cost and risk factors as well. Please correct me if i am wrong. So going for pulsar 200 NS is a safer bet. Pulsar 200NS will also be a learning experience for bajaj and will tell them how does it fare in day to day conditions after it starts to sell. There are several "firsts" in NS for bajaj so they have can't take too much risks with their first "all new" pulsar. And as Rajiv Bajaj has himself hinted clearly that bigger pulsars will come along with technical collaboration with KTM, what's the worry?Last edited by Satellite.kid; 02-02-2012, 01:59 PM.

Hmm...accurate yardstick is a nice wordOriginally posted by HarishK View PostOkay, use your accurate Yardstick and tell me what are the bikes that fall in the same segment as P200NS?
The 200 NS will sell alongside the existing Pulsar lineup and will mostly be the choice of the typical power/style/wannabe consumer; similar people to the ones who preferred the FZ over the other 150/180 CC bikes. Segmentation of a particular product depends a lot on what is the target audience.
My reply above answers that; hopefully.Originally posted by HarishK View PostAny why is Mr Bajaj announcing that the new P200NS will compete with R15 and CBR250? Hope they are all in different segments?
The P135 has been selling in huge numbers; a glance at the latest figures will surely vindicate my point. XCD was a bike that did not sell...agreed but that is not the case with the P135.Originally posted by HarishK View PostThe point is, even with those breath taking pricing/power/mileage figure on papers the P135 was merely like another XCD135 in market.
A question that only time will tell. But for now, all the indicators seem to favor good sales for this new product.Originally posted by HarishK View PostLets see how the P200 sustains.

I know but higher dukes has ABS.Originally posted by shreeda View PostIf you're talking about KTM duke specifically, it doesn't have ABS either! Not for now atleast.
RTR ABS 180, CBR 250 ABS all here.
I like the pulsar 200NS looks, fuel economy with performance. 200cc is ideal for everyday use.
Only ABS keeping me looking at other brands
ABS will be expensive but please add it as an option when buying. Anyway in couple of years it will be there but want it in 2012

Don't care about Fi too on a 200cc
Please give us ABS atleast as an option!!!
I know bajaj will add ABS to P200NS in couple of years as an upgrade but we want it in 2012 atleast as an optional expensive upgrade. KTM using Bosch ABS, so you have nothing to invent. Just make it as an additional option to make this the perfect bike of all.

Ooops missed that, apologies got my facts wrong.
Like I said looks like a neat bike, we have a good choice now in this segment.
Still would have liked to see something that comes close to the N250 from bajaj or even something bigger, they have the capability, but seem to want to take their own sweet time.

Pulsar makes these power and torque ratings with a three spark plug configuration when the KTM uses just one.
Moreover there is a bike called Pulsar 135 - World's 1st 4 Valve DTSi bike, 68.1 km/l certified by ARAI.
With 13.5hp @ 9000RPM it did outperform most of the 150CC bikes which includes the FZ16. But practically did it make any sensation? I dont think any potential FZ buyer would have ended up with P135. It even failed to make an impact on 125CCs Sales chart, still the 8yr Honda Shine 125CC is the best seller in its class.
NS looks perfect on papers, like the P135 did, Not sure how the NS would steal the market.
It would be better if Bajaj makes their Pulsar product line a Static one like Honda, Yamaha, than dynamic.
Read in News paper : Disco125 is highest selling in 125cc bikes.

Not sure why this bike would make you feel proud, I don't know of any Indian automotive company that can build vehicles, whether ground breaking or not without foreign assistance, personally I find it rather embarrassing that our country of so many so called highly educated people, can't come up with something indigenous and at the same time class leading.
