  • [QUOTE=Lucky Luke;937233]Not only do they draw hot air, being right behind the (air cooled!) engine, but get more dust and worse: rain. When soaked with water, a conical, exposed filter will loose (for a moment) some porosity, and block air from coming in. The opposite of what you want.

    Yes. Right.
But people wanting performance generally/mostly opt for K&N conical filters.

Otherwise the stock replacement filter from K&N is anyday preferable if one is more into touring.

Any one of you solved the RC cam issue or back to Stock cam ?

Is there any bigger carb with a TPS available in the market ?

Has any one of you been able to surpass the 136Kmph mark ? & How are builds goin on ?

    Regards,
    Rohan

Try out genuine mikuni carbs from malaysia and I don't know if it's available with TPS. Murali has changed his cam to stock and I'm riding with the RC cam. the stitching sound is very well audible and I'm living with it. Hope though it itches the ears, I hope it will keep the babe reliable on high speeds. My top speed on the ODO with the stock exhaust was 118 km/hr without the pillion an 114 km/hr with the pillion. It's 7000 kms with the kit and haven't found any problems yet except the tune which is not as streamlined as the stock.

Congrats on that!!!). We do not have all day playing on the Internet, just some short moment helping fellow bikers. So we go the easy way. Please do your homework first and make this clear and understandable by all. Thanks.

Here is what has been done (sorry: not very clear!) on my Mikuni 29mm. CV carburetor:

The TPS has been fitted to the cover of the throttle mechanism, and connected to the shaft that, inside, controls the butterfly valve that is the throttle. There are some models from Mikuni that come with the TPS sensor already part of them.
However, if you do not have a carburetor that has a turning shaft for the throttle, but a direct action onto the slide (round, flat or whatever), you will not be able to fit this very beneficial TPS sensor (with the information is forwards to the CDI).

Concerning the camshaft: I have asked one of our fellow "forumnites" here to try and help me getting a stock camshaft from YAmaha India, since we do not have ANY spare parts here in Vietnam, and since my original stock camshaft has suffered an accidental damage when taking it off (fell on the concrete floor and got a dent!). As soon as I have it, I shall get this stock camshaft installed as the small benefit from the RC one is offset by the unpleasant, but moreover not "mechanically satisfying", "stitching" noise, and the difficult start.

My top speed, before changing the camshaft but with my 205cc. setup, was 125 kmh seated (and I offer quite some "windage"!) and over 130 kmh crouched - but I don't know how much over: no safe and long enough stretch of road!. Same with the RC camshaft, the only perceivable difference being a slightly easier revving up on the intermediate gears. I also have a small but audible high frequency rattle when at highest revs (> 8 k. rpm). Camshaft again???

Maybe the video is not made public or something. Why don't you post the link to the video separately as well.

My friend, You can mount a R15 engine in a FZ chassis. All you need is enough $$$ to do it.
For that price I'd rather put a 250-400cc and make it worth while. Though the 400cc will have to be a rather sleepy engine, Not a racing engine as you will need to upgrade pretty much everything else around it
