            • Wonder if Mileage of 42-48 kmpl with a RC FFE is true or not (whatever riding style)

Bt i have been using the Leo Vince FFE for a year now 20,000 kms+ & the mileage figures stand at a decent 38Kmpl normal & 35Kmpl Ripping mode.

Not to mention the sound gets better n better as you clock in more miles....!!

                My identity card:

Simple one line--A biker by passion, but a frustrated software engineer by profession-- I am Chandan from Bhubaneswar.

Does the word "Yamaha" need a description ?

Guys, please allow me few lines to describe what I feel about Yamaha.

No one in this earth can complaint about the performance of Yamaha bikes..rather I must say, when we think about the term "bike", the first picture comes to our mind is Yamaha, rest all may be summarized under a more formal term "2-wheelers".

                Oooh-huh !! Well, well, well...

I may be overflowing, but the world knows what Yamaha stands for and they have proved it again and again. They have given some ever-remarkable 2-wheeled 2-stroke monsters to Indians, starting from the Cheetah like RX 100, the stylish 5-speed RX-Z 135cc to the ever-best RD 350 ()in US they call it "Rapid Death"). And perhaps everyone here (including Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni) knows what a RD is. No explanations please ! Owning any of these bike now-a-days, will etch you the fame of a not-less-than-celebrity, trust me !!

But still (not sure why) they were definitely struggling in Indian market for their existence, in the herd of so-called desi Hero Honda Splendors and Bajaj Pulsars. At that time, they only had few four-stroke bikes like Crux/R, YBX, YD125, which never tackled with so-called "KITNA DETI HAI" type Indians.

                BAAAANGGGGGG !!!!!!

And then came the BIG day, way back in the year 2008. For Yamaha India as well for extremely over-populated and economical Indians. History was re-written !!
Yamaha showcased it's best, when it introduced Yamaha R15 and FZ16 to Indian crowd. And it changed Yamaha's fate (also massively affected all other 150 cc segment sales).

Why this Kolaveri Kolaveri di ?
(If I am praising Yamaha, then what is the need for a modification)?

After riding my Yamaha FZ-S for more than 3 years, I became bored of its power/acceleration. And also now-a-days, the roads are flooded with FZ16/FZ-S/Fazers. So to be very honest, it is not a head turner anymore, just like we have more Pulsars on Indian road than the population of Switzerland :P
So, I thought of making something special which will serve two purposes i.e, performance and looks/showcase. Performance means power delivery/acceleration for my ride and looks means attracting more heads towards my bike...I may be overflowing but ...yes could not resist from revealing the truth.

(The bike asked me) So what do you want from me, my dear rider ?

Hmmm...my dear machine, gimme more..I want more, sky is the limit.

I need a better throttle response as well as a litre-class Vroom Vroom sound. Okay, my dear rider...let's see. I know you love me more than the girls, so I should return your loyalty

What did I do initially to get boosted up ?

 And for that pick-up thing I installed a K&N flatbed type free flow air filter model YA 1611..got it through a friend staying in US. Confirmed from the sole distributor for India that it yet to come to India (at that time). Believe me, perhaps, K&N is as much discussed among bikers as Biryani is experimented among foodies !! What I mean here is, everyone who is passionate about bikes, knows what a K&N is (forget its merits/demerits which is again a different chapter altogether, I am only saying about its popularity/craziness).

YA1611 was especially and exclusively designed for FZ 153 cc which sits directly in the stock air-box, no alteration, no pipes, no cleaning required. Even no up-jetting of the carburetor is needed as confirmed from Joel. Just plug-n-play.

I got a little better throttle response and a very little change in the sound. Rather the universal conical type filters increase the sound a bit more. But yes, it is the engine sound, not the exhaust sound. And most of all will agree that engine sound is not good for this small 153 cc mill.
Is that k&n filter worth it? Any benefits over the stock filter? My aunt is coming from the US.How much did it cost u in dollars? Has the center stand issue been rectified with the new batch of FFEs? Thanks in advance.

The figures as per Leo vince usage are pretty decent. However, if i remember correctly you should check once with the manufacturer regarding the duration of replacement of the fibreglass packing inside the exhaust. If you continue to use the exhaust after the fibreglass packing is done with, you may experience drop in power and FE. You can check the same with Madmik.

As per my experience the FE's with the RC FFE were what was mentioned on the ownership thread. The FE is also dependant upon how you did run-in of your bike, general maintenance and riding style. If you frequently throttle hard between signals then use heavy braking then don't expect FE figures to be higher. In my case i had experienced u[to 51 kmpl on my bike on super duper slow splendor mode as i really wanted to see how far would it go. After that i never attempted it.. saving fuel is so BORING especially on FZ!!

                        Thanks mate..

The FiberGlass in LV Exhaust lasts upto 20,000 Miles as per the manual. And i am done with 20,000 Kms...so there is still time.
Still will check what Madmik has to say.

Ya wrt FE what you said is true...got to try the splendor mode and check.

BTW hows the build goin ???? FZ-18 !!!

Yes...YA 1611 proves its presence, or sure. And most importantly without causing any harm to the bike. Now YA 1611 is available in India @ sites like: ebay.in, snapdeal,sniper-auto.com etc...just a google search would help you..an yes there is NO issue regarding the centrestand wrto RC FFE...

Not only do they draw hot air, being right behind the (air cooled!) engine, but get more dust and worse: rain. When soaked with water, a conical, exposed filter will loose (for a moment) some porosity, and block air from coming in. The opposite of what you want.

TO MODS: What the heck is a "back to back post??? Also, this "multiquote" you want us to use (why?) is quite mysterious in it's use, and no explanation on how to do in the FAQs (which are unreadable anyway, being dark grey on medium grey! Congrats on that!!!). We do not have all day playing on the Internet, just some short moment helping fellow bikers. So we go the easy way. Please do your homework first and make this clear and understandable by all. Thanks.
