you are forgetting taxes that would shoot it close to 2.7 - 2.8, too highly priced.

Bajaj have not brought CBU's of the Ninja 250 but CKD as they are already assembled and ready for sales in the Plant of Bajaj. I have read this in some magazine (BI or OD) i dont remember.

AFAIK taxes for importing are 100%+ so 100% of 4000$( 2 lakhs) is 8000$ or 4 lakhs ( why the hell is bajaj insisting a price of below 3 lakhs for ninja as a cbu )and i don't think the government has changed the policy regarding the import sub 800Cc bikes!

CBU is just an excuse that might prove beneficial later for charging high prices.

yam250 is it Rseries of Fz .? anyways i think it will be less than 2 lakhs because r15 is 1 lakh so for a 250 engine bike( most likely india specific like r15) i dont think yamaha will be foolish or greedy enough! to charge more than a lakh premium over the r15 for a 250r .( Yamaha don't prove me wrong!) so if ninja is over 2.25 something i think its better to wait for a r25

Bike India March says that Bajaj has already imported 200 pieces of Ninja around Diwali last year, in solid colors-green&black. 09' colors-green&black combo will be available only after the first 200 units are sold!

Exactly....even i agree with the point...as of now the wait for the ninja, from what it seems, is going to end up in bitter taste

Apart from NInja bajaj also has plans to launch the KTM duke, during MAy(as per Economic times)...but has anybody any clue on the tentative pricing of the Duke??

today i talked with an official at bajaj probiking and he says that ninja 250 would most probably be launched in june. And he said that the first 200 units would be sold through 24 centres out of which no-24 is our place. He said that they need to get a confirmation message from bajaj as inorder to be specific about the dates of launch.

What about the price? So even though we're buying it in 2009, will it be considered as a 2008 model?
