    • R125 will not at all be launched in India. I had read an interview with a top Yamaha official he told the reason that :
      1. R125 is a lifestyle bike it is for European countries where people use bikes for recreation and fun.
      2. Its equipment is way too much for Indian feasibility.

I say people still dont want a measly 125cc machine for say Rs 2 lakh or so people are expecting Ninja 250R to be below Rs 2lakh.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

        • I don't know....R125 launch or not....but I feel that the R125 may not have a good market response in India...biggest reason...I don't think it comes cheap...in its current avatar might even be more expensive than the R15....its too radical and sporty.

A sportbike like an R1 or Fireblade would still sell in good numbers because their market is different...and the people who fell under this market don't shy away from buying these motorcycles....but the same cannot be said for the R125....in a country like India, 125cc means mass market, which R125 is not catered to...people will still buy an R1 but will not really invest a lac rupee for R125...Yamaha have already launched quite a sportbike in R15....and I don't think they will again launch a sportier 125cc which atleast looks more expensive than the R15!!!

Moreover, Yamaha was able to rebuild its performance image with the launch of R1, MT01 and R15.....now it doesn't need R125, reall

          • +1 to that: Yamaha always denied launching the R125 in India. The biggest rumors (read blogsites&officials with half baked info) say that this year it is scooters (I also saw a few pics on blogsites-one even had a twin headlamp)&MAYBbe a 100cc bike to once again start competing in fuel-efficient segment.
As for FZ&R15, don't expect any major changes until 2010 2nd quarter.

My cut-off is 2.5 lakhs.Beyond that I would rather prefer saving the amount for a bigger machine couple of years down the line!

                        • man 2.5-3 lakhs.?? i wouldnt be surprised if it costs over 3 lakhs because if it is a cbu then since its 4000$ in US . This is cost of carb model.. in india its rumored to be a FI so might be 4000$+ which is around 2 lakhs+ so 110% duty AFAIk (correct me on this) then might be 3.5 lakhs . no way can bajaj price it under 3 lakhs if its a CBU . i will not be even surprised if its priced 3.5 lakhs.

btw since when has the rules been changed to allow 800cc below bikes through the cbu route.?

Wow, wich means Kinetic had done a pretty good job to get the Comet and Aquila at under 2 lakhs !!
Or is Bajaj wants to deliberately price the Ninja at 3 lakhs to milk it as much as possible !!
Lets hope not !! All is a speculation now, and I am pinning my hope on the fact that Bajaj is one of the more responsible ones, when it comes to pricing their products !!!!

Also looking at it in another way, at $4000, the Ninja 250 is approx one third of the price of the litre classes in the US. Following the same model, it shud be priced 4 lakhs in india !!!
                              God forbid !!
Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!
