Just called one dealer here in Bangalore and he is saying that instead RTR 200 is coming 2-3 months and I was really surprised to listen that after seeing that detailed report in NDTV raftar show.

It was already discussed here that the RTR 180 has the same RTR 160's bore & has Apache's Crank shaft. Someone mentioned about a change to high lift cams but am not so sure abt that. Then they got the BS29 carb onto the RTR 180.Originally posted by bprags View Post+100. I dont think the crank needs to be changed, just the stroke. We need to see if the 180 has a diff cam profile than the 160, else even the existing cam will work. Forgot to mention abt the carb, a bigger carb is def required.
Prasad & Joel plz chip in, its getting too technical now
.
From the vague thoughts in my mind - if the bore is kept the same and the stroke changes, the crank shaft has to change. Now, what's the difference in the crank shaft of the Apache 150 & the RTR 160? if it is just the length of the connecting rod then may be someone might as well choose to just change the connecting rod (mostly available as aftermarket accessory for a few hundred Rs instead of abt Rs 3K for the whole crank shaft assembly).
May be even the carb mod can be done later in stages if we can suply more fuel to the head with a bigger jet... this may not be as efficient as getting a BS29 carb in place but I guess it can still get the work done to a good extent.
wiered thoughts & explanation from my side without even knowing the real thing for sure...

Even I feel it should be priced 3-4K more than RTR carb but a little less than RTR 160 FI, dude. Pricing it above FI makes no sense for such small increase in cc/power.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo!!!!!
i'll be pachtaao thn!!!!!!!!!!
I think I would've picked the RTR 160 FI even if I was to buy it after the launch of 180, mainly because of the perfect blend between power and mileage. I'm sure 180 is going to give a little lesser mileage

As sort of speculated here, BI also does same:
"Expect the new bike to be priced a tad cheaper than the RTR 160FI priced at 74 grand."
At page 3 of TVS Apache RTR 180
"However, TVS threw a minor spanner in the works by saying that they will not be announcing the prices just yet and that sales will begin in another fortnight and take roughly a month more to spread across the country."

It would be definitely priced on-par with that of the Fi.People who are slightly bent to better mileage would go for the Fi.

I dont know about the specifics of the engine but from what i have heard, TVS is working very very hard on this engine to up their refinement levels and also to address issues of overheating. Lets hope this is true.Originally posted by HydBiker View Postu r right. What things ned a change for the RTR 160 to become RTR 180?
- crank assembly
- carburetor
- cam shaft ???
The first two would be available for Rs 5-6K (just a guess). That is to replace them with the existing ones. For TVS to give those instead of the ones given in the RTR 160 would cost a few 100 rupees at the max. I believe I am not horribly wrong here.
So, keeping aside those subtle changes and the rear tyre, performance can be upped easily by any existing RTR 160 owner. TVS should price the 180 at about 3-4K more than the 160. Yes, lesser than the 160 Fi.
R.I.P kriss.

White is such a underrated colour in bikes. I hope manufacturers soon realise the potential of same.30mm(or is it 40mm) wheelbase increase is an welcome addition for Apache 180.
