Thanks - I have already got the source. What's the price of the Rimula per litre.

I'm not aware about Mumbai but most Shell fuel stations stock their range of oils here in Bangalore. Please get in touch with a Shell fuel station if possible near your place.

I happened to notice that the coolant level in one picture is marginally more than the other and so keep an eye on it if the lower level is the 95 kms level after top up.....
Change the engine oil after the 100 Kms completion or after another 50 Kms as you had decided...but not later than that.

Hi all,
Haven't been able to update here. As psr sir advised, i got the oil changed after 150kms. The svc didn't have Honda Throttle(FS, for cbrs) oil with them, they filled normal mineral/ss(not sure) Honda oil of the same 10w30 grade. After the oil change the bike has clocked about 200kms and there is absolutely no signs of moisture/condensation in the engine. The oil is clear. The coolant level is the same and i can confirm that it is not dropping.
I would like to thank psr sir, shv18 and everyone who helped me through this. Will keep updating here!

Happy to note that the moisture ingress had been sorted out and nothing like we feared is the reason....still it is surprising how so much of water could have gone in the Air Box and then into the Crank area...My guess is the SVC mech must have used high pressure water cleaning and sprayed it into the air box, which lead to this problem...
The oil recommended for CBR250 is 10w40 .When time permits, get the engine oil changed to this grade using Shell Ultra 10w40 or Rimula R4.....

Good Luck

The water entering the air filter box is still a mystery sir. I think you are right here, the mech must have used high pressure jet. I am planning to change the oil when i go back to Bangalore that is the next monday. Will be riding the bike till there from my hometown(500kms). Sir does it void my warranty if i use shell ultra? I am guessing it will so i will have to stick with Honda Throttle 10w40

Regarding the warranty clause, anything other than Honda parts or oil will void warranty..It all depends on your rapport with the SVC mechanics...I do know that owners did get good support from SVC purely due to their good relationship with the SVC mechs....In fact my relationship with a nearby Hero SVC is good enough to get me 5~10% discount on parts, and I can order any Hero ZMA parts without paying advance ..of course the mechs are super helpful to me, and through me ,to other Xbhpians I send across for service to them.(personal attention)
So a good PR with Good SVC is really a boon to us owners.
I don't think the SVC will be able to distinguish between Shell Ultra 10w40 and Honda Throttle 10w40...Unless the Honda oil is different in color

Good Luck

Adding to this, if they are so concerned about warranty then to my understanding the local Honda SVC has already made a blunder by pouring honda mineral oil instead of honda throttle FS, which in my experience is the general analogy/tactic used by SVCs to sell their oil stock by scaring the owners that their respective bike's engine life will reduce if they use any other brand etc. etc.

In my ownership experience of both Yamaha and Honda, i have always got the things done my way so as psr sir has rightly pointed out: it is all about rapport with the SVC guys and a little "chai paani" for the mechanic will go a long way to keep your bike serviced and also get special attention: little extra..

Hi,

You can get the Shell Rimula R4 at the Shell store in Thane. I buy it from there.

It's not a petrol pump, it's a shell Lubricants distribution centre. It's near Malhar talkies, Thane west

Recommended oil grade for most Honda bikes is 10w30, not 10w40. Afaik, Honda has no SS oil, just 10w30 mineral, and 10w30 Throttle FS.

Sanjay, did the bottle look like this :

Nothing will happen to the CBR 250 if they pour in mineral 10w30 buddy. It meets Jaso MA.

Nobody has said that anything will happen to the engine if mineral oil is poured. The intent of my post was to highlight the usual tactics employed by sales team/SVC guys to scare the uninitiated into believing that it will be catastrophic if any other engine oil brand is chosen. A little bit of arm twisting with facts and figures and their tone changes immediately as far as my experience goes.

Hope this clears everything.
