Educate him as well as yourself.

First, just read the owner's manual 2-3 times. It's provided for a reason. Info like : how much oil, what tire pressure, spark plug info, gear ratios, recommended fuel rating, oil rating etc are provided in a handy booklet.

Secondly, stop riding the bike immediately. Underfilling is ok, overfilling is a strict no no. Sooner than later, you'll have leaks from the gasket, air filter blowby, reduced pickup and mileage at the same time and lesser engine life. Drain all the oil first and then fill only 1400 ml. Store the rest in a closed container, don't drain away in a sewer.

And please tell your mechanic that every bike bigger than a Splendor is not a Bullet.

It is time you get to know your CBR250R in detail and know it's technical aspect..Here is a link to the CBR250R manual from my Google Drive for you to download and study..Since the PDF document is big...about 125 MB reading and virus scan may be shown as difficult..It is Virus free and full in content..Click on the Download link and get the Manual.

2.5 litres? Are you sure buddy? How did he fill that much? The cbr only takes 1.5l along with oil filter change and without oil filter it is 1.4l. After the whole engine disassembly it takes 1.8l max. Get the oil filter changed and drain the oil and fill in only 1.5l.
Thank you bro for the specifications page. Really appreciate the help 👍👍👍

Just to add something --> TVS Apache RTR160/180 and Honda's Unicorn 150 (known as some other name) in Peru/Colombia have recommendations for a 20W-50 by the manufacturer themselves, may be because motorcyclists of those countries tend to cruise at very high speeds and xW-50 offers best protection?

IIRC, and seniors can correct me if I'm mistaken - 85% of engine wear occurs at starting.

If you redline the vehicle often, neither 30w or 50w engine oil is going to prevent accelerated engine wear.

If your surmise is correct, Indians drive at low speeds and thus, only 30w is required? I don't think so. Most Indians speed up sometime or the other. It would be foolish for a manufacturer to assume everybody in a country would drive the same way.

4) Then, he said something weird to me. He said, the "Orum" or "Orim" and a the cable needs to be changed.
This will solve the problem of meter function. But its not available right now, it will take 2-3 days to get the parts. Then the meter will start working.
I didn't ask more about this 'Orum' thingy because he said it will cost 1000-1500 rs with the cable. I was happy to hear the price
as the SVC mechanic said I have to change the entire meter which will cost me 6500 rs. Comparatively, the job will be done in much cheaper price. Let's see what's this "Orum" is. If anyone know about it, let me know.

7) And then the bizzare one. I had brought a yamaha fz oil filter to get it changed in place of the old one. He said, "This bike doesn't have any oil filter." So, there's no need for this. I was amazed to hear this as daily I am seeing videos and photos of people changing the oil filters of cbr 250r. I didn't say anything to him as I was getting late for my night shift. I will show him the video on how to change the oil filter on this bike on the day of doing earth wire mod.

8) Also, he poured in 2.5 litres of oil in the bike. I read in this post that it takes 1.5 litres. So, I asked him about it. He said, "It takes 2.5 litres." Again I was shocked on what he was saying. As I don't have the bike manual, so, I had no way to cross check him then and there.
Bud sorry to say this but like others have indicated, your mech is a complete retard. By orum, he is probably trying to say worm/that is required in normal bikes to indicate the speed/distance on the speedo. However, the cbr250 takes its speedo input from the speed sensors at the wheels as per the FAQ on the 1st page.

The amount of oil filled is ludicrous and like Divya mentioned will harm your engine not to mention his lack of knowledge of the oil filter location.

Since you live in malad please take your bike to the Parekh Honda service center located next to the Grand Sarovar hotel on SV road. Their number is 02228759797

Hi, The Pain.

I immediately got the oil reduced to 1400 ml after Divya's warning. Thanks for the input.

Also, I had taken my bike earlier to Parekh Honda SVC. The mechanic there just looked at the instrument panel and said "The sensor is damaged, you will have to get a new meter, which will cost RS 6500." I am going to check out Sai Honda SVC in Charkop. If he also says the same thing then I will have to change the meter.

Thanks for the help. Cheers!

The average cruising speed is higher there, I think and an uncle riding the Unicorn at 55 kmph is different from someone else doing 100-110 kmph on a NXR Bros 150 or a similar 150 cc. So, I was asking whether the selection of a 20W-50 has something to do with higher speeds (as W50 sticks better to the bore than W30) as the same companies that recommend a lighter oil here recommend a heavier one there. Also, the summers of Peru are not hotter than that of India. IIRC, Suzuki still sticks to their favorite xW-40. Selection of 10W30 here in India seems to help mileage as well, which most of us here are conscious of.

EDIT: Searched for some docs online. The newer NXR 160 Bros and Titan 160 (they use engine similar to Hornet 160R/Uni 160) are recommended 10W-30 SJ only.

Hello. Just wanted to know how many people have tried the earthing mod provided by shv18. My mechanic didn't quite understand the diagram and your help in providing pictures of where the wires are newly placed would be a real help. Thank you.

I've encountered a middle-aged guy who cut me off at 70 kmph on a splendor, an uncle on an activa doing 95 kmph, and a young man on a new, unregistered unicorn who felt he must overtake me @90 kmph, otherwise his family would meet with some misfortune perhaps.

Said Uncles also possess nephews and sons who ride their bikes. I remember a classmate in 10th who boasted of 90 kmph on a city road on his uncle's unicorn.

Am already one and I drive mostly at 60-70 kmph .

No my friend, we are drifting away. I know some Indian Uncles fly at rocket speeds and I have seen guys on FZ16 drive super-sedately. I heard that, before launching the Amaze, Honda researched our market, found most of them shift early even in a diesel motor, and tuned the engine to have most of the juice delivered in low and mid ranges. Of course, not all drivers would shift like that.

So, I was asking whether some kind of market research in countries like Peru, led Honda and TVS recommend a 20W-50 in place of their usual 10W-30. Peru versus India, We are assuming the engines are the same (same tolerances, same diameter oil galleys) and since temperatures of Peru are colder than India, average speed of cruising might be the reason, what do you think?

It is a simple connection from negative terminal of the battery to the RR unit's earthing where all the wires join. To help you understand I am attaching images. Check the length of wire required for this and keep it as short as possible. Hope this helps!
