Thanks Mate....
An FIR !? I had lost it a few days ago, I have not yet reported it to the local cops. And I haven't paid the Karnataka State tax for the transfer, so not sure if they will take up the matter. Or do I have to go back to Kerala(where the bike is registered) and get a FIR ?
I checked the website of RTO and found applications for applying duplicates, but not sure of how to go about duplicates of Insurance papers!

Tried filing an FIR of the same? You've to submit the FIR to the concerned department & you should get duplicate copies of all documentsOriginally posted by MashOnYamaha View PostHi Guys, I am in a dilemma here.. PLease help..
I had recently lost all my original documents: RC Book, Insurance Papers, Tax Papers etc. I do not have any copies of the same too.

Hi Guys, I am in a dilemma here.. PLease help..
I have my Kerala State Registered bike which I use in Bangalore for the last few months.
I had recently lost all my original documents: RC Book, Insurance Papers, Tax Papers etc. I do not have any copies of the same too.
The Bike's Registration was expired on Sept.2011 and I am not sure of what I should do now to get the bike legal to ride as I dont have any documents with me.
Hoping to be saved from this soon...

Thanks a lot !Originally posted by Abhijeet Bhattacharjee View PostYes, you can get it re-registered anytime after paying a fine (which depends on how long the bike has run without a registration). Make sure you take the NOC, Owner's book (smart card), valid insurance papers, and receipt of road tax from the previous owner. You might also need to prepare a sale deed as a proof of sale.

For a period of stay <= 1 year, you don't need to re-register your bike, you just need to keep a proof that you've moved in some time ago.Originally posted by yackoa View PostHi guys,
My bike has been registered in Kerala for the past 4 years (since the day it was bought there ). now I have moved to Chennai since I got a job
! Since the bike is Registered in Kerala , should i re-register it or something so that i can ride in Chennai without the authorities constantly nagging me.
For more than a year you must re-register, as per Motor Vehicles Act. Fore re-registering you'll need NOC from previous state, form 20 & 28, receipt of road tax from previous state, Owner's book (smart card), valid insurance & address proof.

1. YesOriginally posted by santhoshknn View Post1. Should I get an NOC from Chennai before registering it here in Pondicherry? ( I will be going to the RTO office over the weekend, but would like a heads-up)
2. Will I be able to get a refund of the road tax paid at the Chennai RTO ?
3. It's probably going to be an arduos task, but is it a bad idea?
2. For refund you need to pay the road-tax in Pondicherry and submit a copy of the Pondicherry road-tax receipt in Chennai.
3. It's always better to keep clean paperwork but then most people don't get the tax amount refunded from the old state, even if they do its a hell lot of hassle. Still, if you plan to stay in Pondicherry for a long long time then its better to register it there and sell off the bike at a later stage.

Re-Registering a bike in Pondicherry (From Chennai)
This might sound a bit crazy. But please bear with me.
I recently bought an Electra from Chennai (September '12). Reason being the waiting period there was fairly short and heard only bad things about the dealer in Pondicherry. I registered the bike in Chennai using a relative's address. The bike bears a TN 09 registration. I don't think
I'll be commuting extensively as I thought I would to Chennai on the bike and would like to register it back in Pondicherry. Also, there is this emotional attachment to PY registration. Call it sentimental value.

Thank you vickks.Originally posted by vickks View PostNOC with transfer of ownership is required for selling a bike to a person living in another state. In the NOC form (form 28), its written:
I/We intend to transfer the vehicle to the jurisdiction of the Registering Authority .............................
I/We intend to sell the Vehicle to Sri/Smt./Kumari ........................who resides in the jurisdiction of the Registering Authority of the State..........................
The first part is for moving a vehicle to a new location, just for change of address and re-registration.
The second part is for selling the vehicle to any person outside the state.

form 28
or
a fill online and print form 28 here.
For your part, get an NOC from Delhi RTO mentioning the second part, i.e. u are selling to someone outside the state and hand it over to him. He'll have to pay the road tax of Haryana and get a new HR number and bike will be registered in his name.
You have clarified exactly what i wanted to know. Yes the buyer will pay the road tax of haryana and get the re-registration done in his name.
