Bangalore to Hyderabad or Chennai

Guys, need some serious advice here.

I have 6 months more of college left, after that 6 months of internship and then full time employment. I'm currently residing in Bangalore.

Problem is I may move to Hyderabad or Chennai either immediately after college or after internship period is over (ideally if I can pull the right strings I'm trying to stay at home for next 1 year and then shift to Hyd).

Obviously since its full-time employment I would need to switch registration of the bike. Can someone tell me how much moolah I would loose if I change registration to another state (and pay lifetime tax there and collect refund here) for a bike that has ex-showroom of around 55k and on-road price of around 65k in Bangalore ? For both 6 months and 12 months scenarios.

NOC will have to be taken from RTO where the vehicle is registered. So, in your friend's case, it will have to come from Vadodara RTO.

You were lucky that Vadodara Traffic Cops are lenient and allow outside state vehicles without issue, my friend has been using his MH-15 registered CBZ * in Vadodara/Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar for the last 4 years. But don't attempt such a thing in Pune/Bangalore lest you want to be fined for not carrying NOC.

Need help with NOC in Bengaluru

Hi guys,

My friend wants to transport his bike from Vadodara to Bengaluru in another two weeks.

The bike is registered under his name. Documents like RC book, third-party insurance, license and PUC are valid and clear. He wants to know if a NOC has to be made before transporting the bike to B'lore? If Yes, will the NOC be made at Vadodara or B'lore? I do not have any idea of B'lore.

Also, please share a format of NOC application if any or will it be available at the respective RTOs?

Bikers from B'lore and others who have shifted base to B'lore in the last 2-3 years from a different state please share your views.

I transported my bike from Pune to Vadodara with all documents clear about 5 months back and did not remove a NOC till date.

Transfer procedure from one state to another

Hi guys,

One of my friends own a FZ which he bought in Pune. He is currently shifted to Chennai and has shipped the bike to Chennai through paramount packers. He has the original docs of the bike and the NOC certificate from Pune RTO. Now to drive in Chennai what are the procedures he need to follow so that he escapes the menace of traffic cops here.

He will stay in Chennai for atleast a year. He hails from Tamilnadu and has plans of settling here.

Your query is pertaining to renew old registration to certify road worthiness of your old vehicle. Its not a hectic process nor it is a costly one. If all your papers are up to date you will not face any issues.

Sorry i don't have a no to any agents, but you can always google and am sure you will get an answer.

Since you can't have it redg it in Gurgaon due to emission norms, try getting it redg it in Faridabad or Delhi (I have my doubts on Delhi as well due to emission norms).

Suggest you get the bike transferred to your name first and then apply for the FC and stuff. Once redg. your half headache is over.

Faridabad and Delhi will have the same problem. NCR. But its getting the RC renewed which is the biggest headache.

There are many things that are being partly told and made understood here.



You can retain the old redg no. of your new bike as well. This is possible in every state and same applies for Bangalore as well. All this is possible only after you have paid the road tax in Bangalore. The old redg. will be transferred to Bangalore and the RC book will be stamped.
But the new Bangalore no would only cost you an extra fee of Rs.500-600 for a KA-XX-XX-XXXX no, considering that i would not like to be stopped everytime by the cops even after paying 8-10K for the road-tax.



Kindly note road tax is state controlled and varies from state to state. Its not a central govt. regulation. As article on the same that was discussed here.
In Bangalore its considerably high and you can cough upto 11.5-12.5% of the ex-showroom price. I re-redg a 2005 Karizma for which i have to pay about 8K as road tax. This since i do not have the original showroom invoice copy to prove them the ex-showroom price of 2005.



If you already have the NOC you might as well redg. the bike and get it over and done with. Please consider the long term, incase your staying here in excess of 4+ years.

Thanks for the info! Will apply for the NOC soon. Am going from Karnataka to Assam (permanently), will retaining the old KA number still entitle me the road tax refund of Karnataka (~9.7k INR) ?

one small intput.my ride originally purchased from gangtok sikkim and bears a SK01 numberplate.i reregistered the bike in my home place barddhaman westbengal and they changed the add with new reg card and everything but they gave me an option to retain the sk number which i still have .

Re-registering will not cost you 10k because I paid 12k for my 2004 Maruti 800 to register it in Gujarat in Oct 2011. Getting new number is complete piece of mind. Getting hooked by cops and tolerating their nuisance gives us more stress. I am staying on border area, residence in Mumbai and work in Gujarat, believe me its worth paying the tax and live happily. 10k isnt for re-registration, its the refund of Karnataka road tax an entitled to. Re-registration in Assam for a 1 year old bike bike would cost max 3k!
