Finally read this thread through. I think that we guys should take a note of a few things:

1. Remember that almost everywhere in our country, speed limit of 2 wheelers is generally 20-25%% less than 4 wheelers even if not indicated.

2. Also remember that most speed guns (read older generation) are incapable of registering the speeds of 2 Wheelers. I do not know what updated hardwares they use down south. Hence insist on a printout or show you the video indicating the speed though I know it is tough discussing with a cop but it is tough for them to show as well.

3. Try and stand up for your rights. You are a free independent citizen of a free independent country infested with corrupt cops and politicians who try to steal your independence.

4. When you buy a good motorcycle, at the same time, try and develop a good network with the Police. It will always come in handy.

don't you ppl think govt should re think speed limits with better roads and highways and bigger bikes, i think ppl should start a movement for it.

I once visited that Chikkajala Traffic police station to release a few paper work coz my friend had crashed at that spot on my RTR. I was generally listening to their conversations inside.
Sometime later an inspector comes in and says, damn we havent made enough collection today. So the other inpector says, its ok just take the interceptor to the other stretch too and fine all the 2-wheelers and make up all the money. I was like WTF.
Pradeep reddy was along with me and we both were just wondering what these guys are upto.
So cool for them to mint money. Just stop a poor motorist and fine them with some damn reason.

This is one of the most common problem faced by all bikes here in india...
i vivdly remeber one of my friends experience on the new year eve of 2008.
He was coming back home from his work on 31st of dec at around 11.30 from C.P./India gate. He was stopped by the cops on his way,along with many other bikers, and without asking anything, asked to get on the poice truck , with their bikes sized.

Next day, there was an article mentioning that many bikers have been detained for rashdriving and god knows other things.

So basically, in india, u'll have to be thinking twice if u truely want to enjoy being a biker.

Once i was on my way to Rajajinagar and a cop stopped me at Magadi Road. The spot right above Chord Road, which is now an underpass. I was on the leftmost side of the road and there was quite a lot of traffic so i couldn't move to the right immediately. I was riding a Apache which belonged to my cousin and not me. Since i couldn't move to the right to avoid the cop, i had to pull over. I had only my LL that time and i showed that to the cop upon asking. He checked Insurance papers also. The bike didn't have rear-view mirrors and the asshole said 200 RS fine for missing RVM's! I tried buttering him by saying that i'm a student, low on funds etc etc. He asked me to come behind the police jeep and asked me how much i could pay. I was a bit scared too, so i said i have money, only 100. He took that money and asked me to leave quickly. I was pissed for whatever happened and rode away.

I dont think they can fine you for that!! I know several people who ride without RVM's.

Well, if we talk about the clauses under which a rider can be booked or challaned then the count will cross the no. of posts on this thread, but sometimes they are just too much into challaning.
This Monday, I was coming back from Delhi to Faridabad and I was stopped by a group of Traffic Police and I was asked to show the documents. RC, Insurance, DL, PUC was in place, but as the Vehicle is still not in my name( It was previously owned by Ravi Bhai), they were hell bent in giving me a ticket for riding a vehicle that was NOT IN MY NAME. somehow, Gandhi Ji still works past his death some 61 years ago. 100rs to the Thulla and I was ready to go.

One thing that I have noted in my years on Road...If you are ever stopped by a Cop whose Name Plate( the Name dsplayed on the right side of his Chest pocket) is not visible....(they just pin up the name plate but bend it in a way that you can never read the name) then no matter how much you debate, persuade, object or contradict...they will not let you go till you grease their Bloody palms.

So next time when you are stopped by a cop and you see that he has deliberately bent his name plate...rather then showing him the documents...... show him the money and thats it.

Trust me....majority of these People join this force because it is the fastest and the easiest way to earn money. otherwise, they would have burnt a little more of that midnight Oil and would have been an engineer or a Doctor.

If you go by the book..there are a 100 or more possiblilities that we can be fined for. On a frank note i feel the system is Blore is improving with all the new gadgets and the cops for a change are issuing challans and donot demand money.
We should also agree that there are motorists who do break rules and the ones who follow also face the burnt. It has to be a initiative from both ends..US--lets follow all rules sincerely

speaking of which i was returning home (HSR) from hebbal a few weeks ago in my ikon on the ORR. i never saw the speedo but i don't think i was going really fast because of traffic (earlier in the day i had been hitting 120+ speeds) somewhere just near nagawara lake the cop actually had the balls to come into the right lane and stop me. i pulled over and he said that i was overspeeding. i never noticed the interceptor and still hadn't. then i asked him to prove it. he took me to the interceptor and i asked him how much was i doing. he said 70! i told him that 80 was the speed limit but he wasn't budging, he said it's 60 for cars. finally he left me without a challan and i paid him just 100 so i guess i was lucky!

their for this wud be that they are not getting enough salary like other govt servants like mla s

Stopped by the cops three times today.. twice by Interceptors, and once by a traffic police.. Thankfully, let off all the three times.. Was stopped for riding a TN Registered Bike, let off after verifying the papers..

One near Mysore Road, One at Domlur and One at HAL Junction. Just be careful, saw them twice at the same locations today!!

i have faced this interceptor thing once. on the same stretch from bial to blr. the only difference is i was stopped twice!

hmm well actually once. the first time i was stopped for a speeding ticket was when i was doing around 70 on the speedo. as a good gentleman i just stopped as intended by the cop and then the regular blah blah... their claim was again the same as in your case. speed limit is 60kmph for 2 wheelers. what ever, i just ended up paying 200bucks without any chalan. soon after i was horrified when i saw another interceptor near jakkur the reason- i was pissed off and was doing 90 on the speedo!

i just decided that i wont stop this time. and i didnt stop...

but i truly appretiate one thing. these people have gained good experience and skills in stopping 2 wheelers, no matter how fast you are...

i hav travelled on the stretch at a speed of 120 in taxi, 100 in my dad's car, and once easily over 130 in my friends car... its just hazzle free no matter how fast you are. but always remember one thing that over 60kmph on two wheels is RASH DRIVING!!!!!

forgot to mention... that guy really did screw me... the reason was that i couldnt talk in kannada. he literally said that people like me from the north have screwed up bangalore and spoilt its image.....( dont want to mention more but that day was really bad)

Bangalore cops do create some basic awareness amongst people.

Did anyone notice a red crashed Verna , in front of Garuda mall, wearing big nameboards that said "MY DRIVER WAS DRUNK" ? That verna didnt have any A,B nor C pillars. It was scrap. I earlier saw the same verna in the KR Puram police station i guess.

I was surprised that the police take these kind of initiatives for passing a message to the public.
