Does the speed gun on the interceptors work only in broad daylight? I'm yet to see an interceptor (at the regular spots that they are stationed at) in action when its naturally dark?

Guys! Had a question bothering me for sometime:
Does the speed gun on the interceptors work only in broad daylight? I'm yet to see an interceptor (at the regular spots that they are stationed at) in action when its naturally dark?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I've paid fine 2 times on that stretch, Rs. 200 gone to the mamu. But I was riding fast, I was doing about 85-90 kmph, so just paid up & left. As far as I remember there are sign boards indicating speed limits for 2, 4, wheelers & trucks. After that day I'm very careful on that stretch, 60 speed limit for bike & 80 speed limit for car. The BTP has 2(I think) interceptors which are doing rounds all over the city. I've seen them near Lalbagh West Gate (Krumbigal road) between Lalbagh Main Gate & West Gate. Then near the Golf Course, between Le Meridian & Sophia High School signal.

When I had started this thread, there were no signboards stating speed limit for 2 wheelers is 60kmph on the stretch.. The boards were put up subsequently, & now its quite clear that 2-wheelers need to maintain speeds below 60kmph, & 4-wheelers speeds below 80kmph..Originally posted by gd76 View PostI've paid fine 2 times on that stretch, Rs. 200 gone to the mamu. Regarding the number of interceptors, it is definitely more than 2. My guess being its 5..
2 interceptors are always stationed on the NH7 between Bangalore & Devanahalli on either sides of the highway..
I have spotted others at Old Airport Road (after Command Hospital), at Minerva circle, on Tumkur Road, & opp Karnataka Golf Course (Opp High Grounds Police Station).. But they are not stationed regularly at these spots.. So gotta be careful..

I saw one interceptor near IISc (CV raman Road), BIAL road has regular interceptor near Yelahanka.
These interceptors are predictable and i don't mine paying fine if I voilate speed limit, but these hiding police (
) are unpredictable, all of a sudden they 'jump' from hiding spot n stop you to get their palm greased (Tata Tea ad picturizes this very well)

1. Speedgun works during night. But cop's eyes cant.
2.they need to take a photo of vehicle to show as proof, which is not possible during night.
3. they cant identify who was speeding with bunch of vehicle during night with just headlights on
PS:- Just my thoughtssigpic

Once I was stopped at the same spot near Yelahanka signal (i think there was some kind of bridge there, a small one). The cops stopped to check the DL and bike papers. While I was showin my papers, 2 other cops were stopping other passers. An overspeeding guy tried to change to the next lane and throttle his way out, but one of the cops swung his assault weapon (a 5 foot long PVC pipe) and gave a whack on his back and laughing their way out uttering some bad words I guess.

Lucky you..Originally posted by manohar_manu View PostI was never caught even when doing 90's

I think your points make sense..Originally posted by manohar_manu View Postbecause,

I've heard that the interceptors on NH7 are stationed as soon as daylight breaks in.. Too much hard work for the cops..
Now thats insane! I'm sure this is illegal.. If someone doesn't stopped when flagged to do so, the cops can send across fine notice to the offender (based on address registered with RTO).. If the offender fails to pay up, it goes forward to the courts it seems..Originally posted by Suru View PostAn overspeeding guy tried to change to the next lane and throttle his way out, but one of the cops swung his assault weapon (a 5 foot long PVC pipe) and gave a whack on his back and laughing their way out uttering some bad words I guess.

Its insane to use these means to stop people, as it might prove fatal on highways, & at high speeds..
I wonder when Bangalore cops will get some brains, they seem to think no end to themselves..

Bangalore cops always seem to run ahead of the crowd!!
The RD350 cop bikes in mid/late 80s. Way back then itself they were using breath-analyzers for drunken driving & doppler radar for overspeeding (I was fined once in Rajajinagar for overspeeding with that crappy equipment with no photos etc, but those days if you go to court to challenge it, the fines would increase).
BTW, the latest radars can all shoot at night with flashlight as well as I understand that they can record your speed from a distance as far as 1.5 to 2kms away during the day.

There's another place I have frequently noticed the interceptor.. The stretch from corporation circle to Kasturba road.. the road which runs alongside Kanteerava stadium with Cubbon park on the other side.. This stretch is where many people are caught.. good stretch for ripping I must say
.. first time I saw them I was almost caught.. fortunately I noticed the intereceptor from far away and kept my p220 under 40 as soon as I entered the stretch.. Watch out for this place on all weekdays in the daytime.. I usually dont see them in the evenings after 3-4pm..
