No. But from my and others past experiences it is easier to get money from govt. companies than private companies. That's all. To take the insurance it is easier and slightly cheaper to get it from a private company than a govt. company.

Yes. I agree with Sir Monk. It is easier to get cheaper insurance from private companies but simultaneously I have a good experience with my motor insurance company Liberty Videocon.

Crashed my bike on August 1, worried about parts and Insurance claim(HELP).

So I was cornering my bike at 125km/ph and suddenly I realized I'm not that pro enough and the bike is going straight into the divider! And I braked hard enough(saved my life) and the bike's rear tyre slipped to the left and the bike fell straight on the divider(on my right). And then I have no idea what happened because all this was really fast and gave me a real jerk in my head. I'm fine just some bruices and joint pains no bones fractured(BECAUSE I WAS WEARING ALL THE SAFETY GEAR) my gloves saved me from any scratches on the palms and fingers and my helmet saved my face(still got stitches on chin because of the powerful jerk inside it.

Here is the real question now:-
        1)How screwed my bike is?
I saw a Square Cuboid shaped sponge came out(any one knows what could be that?) and it was lying on the road and my headlight is also screwed the handle bars are totally gone(were not turning) and the right fairing is scratches and all the paint came out the chassy inside the headlights also has some damage, the meters were all shooked inside! And the exhaust fairing is also broken. And I also saw the radiator tilted. Can they actually restore the bike? (I think they all are noobs because one third service they forgot to fill the coolant and the bike was overheating in every 2km I live in Rajasthan Jaipur and here it is 47c temp sometimes, and they actualy are noobs and careless about our machines here)
I'm really worried about the bike being well and fit. Please tell me what could be that cuboid sponge part?? And will the bike return to its original fine engineered precision glory? The bike was just 4,100km on ODO.

        2) Will Insurance company give me full claim or cry on silly things and leave parts that I have to pay for? The bike was still running and we took it to the Yamaha service center within 2 hours.

          Approved!

Consider yourself lucky, plus damages could have been much more (to you and) to your ride. Don't corner at 125 kmph anywhere in India.

Please get the frame/chassis checked as well. They cannot be repaired to factory precision. You may have to cough up some for plastic parts depending upon your insurance type (zero dep/third party etc).
          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Cornering at 125 kmph ?? Are you kidding me?? Glad to see you are safe with minimum damage.. like Divya has mentioned.. consider yourself lucky you survived.. this could have been fatal..

everything can be brought back to normal except the chassis.. get it checked.. plastic materials AFAIK are not insured..

              Ok Superman

Here is my word on your bike, from pics it seems chasis is ok and also there might be slight bend on front forks and lucky you that tank is without damage. from pics most of the damage is for front and plastic. there is possibility that radiator may also be damaged.
insurance will cover most of it, but for all plastic parts it might be 40-50% that means you have to pay for remaining 50%, so all in all you may have to spend 10k+ from your pocket

and don;t be a superman next time, its only good in movies , imagine wearing red undi over your pants in real life its simply stupid [hope u got the point]

Re: Crashed my bike on August 1, worried about parts and Insurance claim(HELP).

Lucky you survived. Cornering at those speeds is not the problem. Knowing your limit is. Bikes like R15 can make you push really hard without realising you have reached your own limit.
Anyways, you have been adviced by others on this.

Regarding the bike, it looks terrible and going by your description, it seems damage is severe. Try to get it restored with the insurance claim, and if you do not like the workmanship sell it.

As for cornering, try to go step by step, and remember "more the speed lesser is the lean and more the lean lesser is the speed".

Take care and get well soon.

*Thank your lucky stars that you are all right!!

DO NOT corner at high speeds over our roads.
I repeat DO NOT corner over our roads, and i say this not just because our roads are not good enough, i say this because:-

                    1. there is always dirt and grime to make you lose grip.
2.the angle of banking required for cornering is always the opposite of what it is supposed to be. road surface level is never perfect, many times roads Slope downwards towards the edge to facilitate rain water drainage. This is dangerous for cornering.

                    **Now lets talk about Insurance:-
Most new bikes come in with a ZERO DEP insurance, If you have one, you need not worry about any thing. and in that case you will have to pay only about 1k (approx, give or take a few Rs) for Processing Fee only.

If you do not have Zero Dep insurance, then you should start getting worried sick by about..right now.
most regular insurances do not cover plastic parts by 100%.
So that will be the additional cost along with the consumables' cost that you will bear in getting the bike fixed.

As long as your bike Chassis has not warped, your bike can be fixed totally.

(the sponge like thing might be part of air intake/filter mechanism)

*** Now, the Important part, (and i am sure all will agree)always wear some kind of thick jacket, protective gloves, boots and a full face helmet with the chin strap locked in and properly adjusted. This is for your safety.

!Ride Safe and Ride Hard! and don't lose your confidence as well

P:S:- Do let us know what quote you got on the bike and what is the extent of damages.

Man are you crazy or what. Cornering that too at 125 kph is not only stupid but also suicidal on public roads. Thank god and your stars that nothing much have happened to your bike and you. Bike can be restored to new. Make sure that every part is changed that has a bit of doubt. And check the chassis. Although i think the chassis is ok as major crash force was taken by the plastics, but get the chassis also checked. And next time take care and think about someone waiting for you at home. Showing your riding prowess is very macho and looks cool, but when something happens then it becomes a huge loss for family. You cannot think how much will they be sorrow for the rest of life. For your split second fun, they will suffer for the whole life. So better to ride responsibly and properly. What is the need of riding so fast when i know that riding at 80 kph will take me at the best 5-7 minutes more. Remember the saying: "Better late than being Mr. Late".

Last winter, my brother had a crash on his R15 and the bikes full right side was damaged. The total cost of repair came to ~16k and we had to pay ~4k and rest was covered by insurance. I don't know if the insurance was zero depreciation or not.
So it would be the same % for you also. Ours was Oriental Insurance.

Thank you everyone for your concern of me being fine and well. As you all said I was extremely lucky because of the plans in divider they gave me a support bed but the harsh branches poked me in my chest it was blood all over but they saved my bones.
Today I got a call from Yamaha saying the bike is surveyed by the insurance executive and he approved all the damages and has said to replace every part which is damaged and my insurance covers 100% of the plastic parts too, and Yamaha has repaired the bike as well. I will be picking up the bike tomorrow as today it is heavily raining in Jaipur.

And they said they will tell me the damages and the part replaced when I will visit them, I will keep you guys updated!
Thanks you everyone, lesson learnt :- WEAR ALL SAFETY GEARS(I was wearing gloves, helmet, knee caps), AND DON'T TAKE RISKS ON INDIAN ROADS.

It's time for a new helmet as my helmet is trashed, Thanks you once again!

                          • This post is regarding whether I should have claimed an insurance or not.

This was my scenario, I was practicing knee down cornering on an isolated road where the traffic was nil. While practicing I was low sided and my bike slided to a few meters on the tarmac. The fault was completely mine, there is no real damages to my bike except the fairing is badly scratched.

Should I have claimed an insurance for replacing the scratched part with a new one? This happened a few months ago and it felt silly for me to claim an insurance just for the sake of scratches. So in the end I replaced the fairing on my own expense. Now I want to know whether one could: claim an insurance for such issues.

Good to know that the insurance covered the whole cost.
Btw, from which service center you repaired the bike in Jaipur ?

                                Dear Friends,

During May 2014 while taking a turn near my home a biker came fast from behind and hit my bike hard, and I feel down from my bike and bike dragged little. Had internal muscle sprain in left leg which took around 3 months to fully recover. Asked that biker to stop but he escaped, else would have slapped and killed him on spot (some college going boy on bermudas and without helmet, riding an apache like madman) First fear was fracture to myself but luckily it was just muscle sprain and some bruises in hand. Bike flairing got scratched and as his bike directly hit the silencer it came out from engine mouth and whole bike was making engine noise blabbering,, Temporarily fixed cold drink can with hose and took it to service centre, he told that you have to keep the bike in service centre, and insurance company will survey and give only 50% for changing the silencer and plastic parts not covered. When I asked the Service Centre that I could not catch the boy and file FIR he told that you can tell anything you can tell you slipped and fell because of gravel etc.

Estimated cost of HH Super Splendor Silencer he told is 6K and I may need to pay 3K half of the cost, and other half may be paid by insurance co, also he told whole process takes 2-3 weeks and bike will be at Service Centre only, until the survey is done and I approve the job. Also silencers are not in stock. I then told the service centre guy that I cant keep my bike for 2-3 weeks in Service Centre as it would totally cripple me and I would unnecessarily incurr heavy exp on auto , bus etc and lose my flexibility. I asked him what if I want to repair the silencer on my own cost, he told it will cost rs.900-1000 to change the mouth pipe and weld the silencer again, I came out and rode the bike for 1 more month as the coke can and hose arrangement was good enough to muffle maximum noise. Ultimately one day asked a welder who did it for 300 Rs Service Charge and bought the Mouth Pipe part from Spares shop at 200 Rs.. Total 500 Rs.. expenditure.

Mine is 7Yr old bike and ASC told bore is gone everytime i give for service hence I thought of spending 500 and get the silencer fixed instead of replacing the whole which was not required , and arguing with insurance cos ,, felt it as waste of time..
