Joel isnt in the country I guess... you guys are forgeting that motogp starts soon!
    Go Joel!!!!! Do us proud!!!!

PS: Length of the pipe defines how it will manage the backpressure of the gases, thus changing the performance characteristics of the machine

I have been pestering Joel for a similar request since a while, albeit it means a new development for a single machine and that would mean a lot of R&D time man!

The souped exhaust has a nice throaty sound man!!!

    • ^^ +1. Not just the length, the precise diameter of the header pipe also matters. Pipes designed by Joel are no ordinary Free Flow Exhaust systems. They are designed using scientific calculations and Joel's experience with Road Racing. Joel has mastered the black art of pulse tunning of exhaust and that is something that one can only learn through one's experience.

Sitting at Doha, Qatar now. Motogp has started.
Well, the exhaust story is too much to explain to most. All I can say is all those fancy looking pipes are good as long as you think it is good. Not on a dyno, or not on a proving ground - a race track.
Nobody realises that exhaust tuning is an art of its own and there is so much that goes behind it.

@wanted DOA - Yes, I do have the exhaust for the P200 and P220.

              ....
Thanks for internet . I don't really know how it all works and my query does not ask for 'how it works', I'm aware it takes a great deal of expertise and tests that is beyond me. Just wanted to know if its possible to extend the FFE up to stock length. I am interested in your FFE. The short length exhaust may be the best possible result achievable but I just happen to prefer longer exhaust so if its possible, cool. If by extending, it looses its intended primary purpose which is performance, then I'll just be getting a growl without teeth so might as well stick to stock. Will highly appreciate if you could please entertain my query.

Been keeping a track of your works and am highly impressed. My bike which is still running on full stock has accumulated enough mileage by now to consider some mods hence my query.

              • A query tho... I noticed that all stock silencers have a drain hole right??? To drain off water if it enters the exhaust?? The FFE does not have it... So Joel, what s the solution if water ever enters the exhaust???

P.S. Good luck for Qatar man... Me following closely...

                • Been 2500 kms since i got the desi growler, ermm, Joel's custom FFE for my P220 and it has been a blast ever since, quite literally . The sound has mellowed down a bit and has become much more enjoyable. It still scares the crap out of people from 5k rpm though . I can confirm confidently that the FFE has improved my bike's overall efficiency. Been riding harder and in harsher traffic conditions and the FE continues to be around 37kmpl mark with redlining everyday. Oh and yes, this thing can set off car alarms too in parking lots n bylanes . Been doing that since day one at office and in my locality
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

                  • ^No water drain hole in a freeflow system. Indeed all the water will get steamed away unlike in your stock system which only has metal baffles. There is no water accumulation in a freeflow system.

Okie... Thats ok then... One more thing... Heard that you are offering exhausts with dB killers now... You must have designed the FFE with a specific back pressure and flow rate in mind... When you just plonk on a dB killer, wont it disturb those parameters??? I do not understand how this dB killer will work... Because, without it, the exhaust flow is optimal... So whenever the dBkiller is used,is it harming the engine in some way with extra back pressure???

                      Can you plz enlighten???

                      • Today, when I was returning from nandi hills along with some friends, a traffic police stopped me (just me..) on NH7. At this point I thought he is going to write me off some bills. It turns out that he chose my bike to pursue some truck which didnt respond to him.. It was a nice pursuit with with a traffic police as pillion, I didnt rev beyond 7k though (but the loud exhaust was enough to know its an FFE).. We caught up to the truck and made it stop and he said "thank you sir!"

                        • A db cutter is to quieten the exhaust note. It is designed to barely increase the back pressure and still retain most of the originial performance. Its indeed a trade-off coz you cant be street legal otherwise, yet will make more power than the stock exhaust. The db killer is a removable option with just a small screw. remove are freak out when you are outside limits.
Since you talking about backpressure, have you realised how much backpressure your stock exhaust system has? So dont get confused. This is still a freeflow system.

                              • Joel's FFE in RTR180

Its been 2 weeks and still sometimes it scares me like hell.
RTR180 have now started showing its true character after putting the FFE.
Now she has started behaving like she is always in a great hurry to throw me of the saddle.
Put her in first gear and a sudden twist of wrist always started resulting in a wheelie which was not there earlier. And sometimes a thought passes by that now i have to be a little gentle on the throttle or else
She has started doing power wheelies now in first gear.

Joel's FFE only will do so much of a change, I was not expecting.

As Joel has always said it will make your bike quicker and it has done the same with mine. And the proof for the same is 0 to 60 kmph acceleration of bike.
Many of the guys may know that there is a data logger for the same as a feature in RTRs. Earlier i have tried hard to get the quickest time and it was 4.4 sec only for 0 to 60 but now after putting FFE the new 0 t0 60 timing is 3.9 secs .
And i think if i try a little harder it may touch 3.7 secs. And guys mind one thing i am a 90kg heavy built guy. So one can imagine how much a 60kg guy can get out of her

Now for the same stretch where eariler bike use to do 60kmph, have now started doing 70kmph+ with similar riding style.

Recently did a 250kms+ trip also. And the bike's pull in the whole trip was amazing.
Without crouching bike gave a top whack of 124kmph(on the speedo) with almost 90Kg rider+20kg of luggage+gears and it reached their pretty quickly than with the stock one.
And earlier i use to cruse at 90 but now 100 without any fuss. And the most amazing thing of all after constant crusing in a speed range of 95 to 110kmph bike gave amazingly 41kmpl mileage which earlier drops to 36 to 38 kmpl.

Will do a top speed check and will update here.

Its a amazing gift from Joel to us. And hope he keep up this good work.

                                Thanks Joel
