Dogs have a peculiar way of behaving. The faster you run the more excited they will get. They want to HUNT, and hunting is only fun when they have to chase their prey. Simple.

The solution is to slow down. Whenever I see dogs getting ready to chase me, I just stop and stare at them like I am asking "Ok, I am here. Now what?". On another occasion when they got ready, I actually chased them making them run here and there, hiding around behind cars. But, this is not advisable since it will only aggravate them.

      ROTFLMAO!!

Even I face this issue sometimes when I ride beyond midnight..
Frankly, I have never had the guts to slow down (to almost 0kmph) when being chased by a group of Stray Dogs, & I wouldn't want to experiment it until atleast a couple of you try it & swear by it..
So my way out is, either i approach the doggie check post slowly, or just zoom past them if they seem to be in the mood of scaring me..
& yeah, i do raise my legs up a little, so that they don't end up pulling me by it, just in case the chase gets really hot!!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

there was a time.. i used to get dreams of me walkin among Stray Dogs! XXP

what if when there in groups..
one needs to stop and stare?? XO

^ dare stopping.. i tend to zoom past them, like a shooting missile..
yes., then comes the fear of hitting something in that rush/ fear falling infront of them.. XXO

ive seen, when in groups there show a real rage for attack & chase.
        kinda tricky situation!
But,yeah! stopping afar a distance & disturbing the groups with some stones shooting does works.
raising legs, avoids the bitting part!

        its sure a menace!!

once i took a turn in my colony and was fully geared up.. that stupid dog started staring at me and tried to dodge me from across.. i immediately revved to the full 10.3k with the rev-limiter and did a wheelie to scare it away. still it was staring at me..

being an animal lover myself, I have faced this a lot since me having a rx100 which makes one hell of a noise it seriouon road sly attracts attention of dogs while riding in night.
the best possible way is not to zoom past these dogs in night. If a dog is chasing you even when you are not riding the bike in speed then just stop the bike...and when the dog moves away just leave from there quietly without reving the engine.....these methods have been tested and so far I have come out smiling....
And at times when I see the dog getting ready to chase me I slow down my bike and stop in front of him and then move slowly if he starts chasing again then again I stop. So the dog actualy feels honoured that his animal instincts has led me to stop the bike and he lets me go as if saying "aaj chala ja fir mat ana"

I have thunderbird and its thump draw hell lot of attention of dogs.
I face the same problem almost every day.( lots of street dogs in my area)
                    So here what i do
This might sound funny but this works

I stop my bike and take turn and chase the dogs.
Take my words when you chase the dogs on your bike it scares them to death
                    IT REALLY WORKS

sometimes I had this problem, and I feel the most simple solution is that go slowly like a king :P , and treat them as children(I take equal precaution if see a dog or children).. I'm serious.. just go slowly, don't be afraid. if you see any dog near by keep pressing horn button. if it is your daily route path then they will remember you and won't bark or chase you again. that was initial precaution. now if some dog is really chasing you then best way is to stop and bark back.

slow down. thats what i do. They stop in their tracks, and then i start moving out at about 15-20 kmph, when i am a good distance away then i zip off.

I love dogs, so i really dont fear them. and 6 years of riding hard, has made me understand, its better to be in control of the situation , than to do something suddenly.

I stopped zipping from dogs, when i hit one with the legguard of my T-Bird, accidentally.

Also they sense the fear, this is what i keep telling everyone. They can sense it somehow. even if you are meeting a pet dog.

I have three black street dogs in my lane that i take care of, and they guard my bikes and my roomy's car all day.

Just take it slow and confidently. Dont try and zip off, in case you get into a crash because of something that you dint see on the road.

well i think u can make out from the look on a dogs face what he intends to do.

If you take necessary precaution of keeping bike slow , and ready to brake or accelerate then it won't be an issue at all.

I did not know, dogs were such a big problem!!
So many people here have been thinking of soo many innovative ways to avoid dogs... !!
I think its more of a our own scare.... beacuse I can't see any intent for the dogs !! (What can a dog get by biting me?)

Personally I never had any problems with dogs.
I think, If any dog tries to scare me, I will quickly befriend it with some biscuits (Parle G).

thats what i say , you don't need to scare them. just spend 5-10 bucks for one time (for dogs only one time is enough :P)..later on they might wanna come near to you(off course for more biscuits), but they won't chase you like earlier..
