    Don't bother with cleaning the air filter, just replace at 5k intervals.
    Does it have oiled up foam filter or paper one?

          Hey guys,

          I have an 88000Kms run 2010 UG4 model P180. Lately noticing a few issues.

          1. Lights in speedometer flicker like anything most of the times. Can it be a loose connection of wires? Battery is new. Earlier only the illuminating light used to go off...while neutral, reserve, side stand and high beam lights stayed on. But now all the light go off at once, and come back intermittently.
          2. A khat khat noise from engine. I thought it to be timing chain. Got it changed but didn't work. Noise decreased but not much. My engine was overhauled at 67K kms.

          Any clue as to what might've gone wrong?

            1. Check the connectors first, then ensure the Motorcycle grounds right. Also do check continuity with the help of a multimeter.

            2. Did you change he timing chain guides and tensioner along with the timing chain?

                Thumb rule to always change timing chain kit, guides and tensioner in one go.

                  I hear tappet noise from my Pulsar 180 even after I adjusted valve clearance with intake value as 0.5 mm and exhaust value as 0.10 mm. I kept the engine at top dead centre by rotating starter clutch in anticlockwise direction till the rocker arms became loose and then I used feeler gauge to adjust the gap between the rocker arm screw and the valve.

                  In 3rd gear the tappet noise disappears for sometime and comes back if I reduce the speed below 20 km/h. I can't focus carefully while riding the bike as other bikes cause noise interference. Is the noise disappeared in 3rd gear or the engine sound is hiding the tappet noise. Engine noise is smooth but tappet noise dominates the engine noise at lower gears.

                  I adjusted valve clearance more than 5 times and I reduced 50% noise.

                  What is the reason for tappet noise even though I adjusted it?

                    Good morning all, myself Gagan just purchased 2nd hand p180 dec 2018 model.

                    bikes only completed 1350km. But gears from 1-N-2 or 2-N-1 are really hard and finding neutral is not easy.

                    how to deal with this pls advise.

                    Also i want to replace its engine oil. can any one tell me what is the best oil for this beast.

                      Your bike is quite new, even the break-in takes 4-5k KMs. So, it's still in the break-in period. Just hang on for a while and you will get used to it. Meanwhile in a few thousand KMs, you're bike will also break-in.

                      For engine oil use the stock DTSi oil or some other 20W50 mineral oil. Pls make sure the first service of the bike has been done in time, if not get it done immediately.

                          No problem in taking a pillion. Just don't take 2 pillions . For run in, vary the speed and rpm. Means, don't go for long highway rides, with the throttle pinned at a constant speed. City riding is best for run ins as it works the engine and gearbox across the range without putting too much pressure in the engine.

                          And yes. It is a bit difficult to find neutral in this bike.

                          Bajaj oil is good enough. But it doesn't last as long as the company claims. I don't know about now, but 3 years back I used to change it every 3000km Max. My bike had done 50k, used mostly Bajaj oil and returned 50 to 55kmpl when ridden sanely. Still regret selling my bike.

                            My idea of break-in is not to decrease the throttle once you start to feel harshness, in my P220, I felt it at 5-6k and it slowly kept on increasing. You'll feel the engine become vibey. Just dial down the throttle at that point.

                            Rest, I'd suggest you to go for oil changes at 1500 KMs initially. After that you can go with 2000-2500 KMs max.

                                For chain cleaning, depends on how dirty the chain is, can go from weekly to monthly basis. Use the spray that Bajaj Service centre uses, it leaves a greasy film on the chain, which acts as a barrier between chain surface and dust, water etc.
