Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Do take caution, the same was suggested for me when a bolt seized on my motorcycle, but I managed to do with penetrating oil and commonsense due to there being a possibility of something bad happening. Good that you used a rubber mallet.Originally posted by javvadi View PostMotorcycling Experience:

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
I removed the pistons and soaked the caliper in brake oil for a night. Tried WD 40 and even soaked it in Apple Cider Vinegar for an hour and then I decided to go for the gas welding. The bolt got completely rusted inside even with the Protection Boot on it. However, its solved. Thank you guys.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostDo take caution, the same was suggested for me when a bolt seized on my motorcycle, but I managed to do with penetrating oil and commonsense due to there being a possibility of something bad happening. Thinking about upgrading from rear drum to disc as Bajaj has released the new Pulsar 180 UG5 BS4 with rear disk. I understand many have already done it with 220 spares. Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
P 180 is a good bike with less maintenance, also consider xtreme 200 abs, approximately falls in same price range.Originally posted by Zapps View PostI'm buying a new bike, and thinking of P180, what do you guys think about the latest BS4 model. Other option is Apache 180.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Pulsar 180 over Apache 180 for a simple reason - Apache 180 might get discontinued soon for when I asked the showroom about Apache 180 ABS price, I was told that they do not have quotation about 180 in any avatar and have to check for availability of A180 and the price list too.Originally posted by Zapps View PostI'm buying a new bike, and thinking of P180, what do you guys think about the latest BS4 model. Pulsar is less vibey than Apache in the 180 segment. Both should be equal in terms of service cost but Pulsar could be a bit cheaper to maintain. I own a P220 and can accept a P180 too for regular rides.Regards,

Take a test ride first and see if it meets all your requirements.Originally posted by Zapps View PostThanks for sharing that

We at the other side of keyboard can only suggest based on what we liked/disliked.
Pulsars need a little care so if you join the Pulsar family, do follow the run-in and periodic maintenance for a supremely long happy ownership.Regards,

I did take a test ride and it seems to fit in my requirements. I understand that after running in, it'll have its ideal punch.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostTake a test ride first and see if it meets all your requirements.

What about the running in? usually it is suggested to keep max speed till 40-50 kmph before first service. And I read somewhere that engine should actually be ran-in with varying rpm so that the piston rings & cylinder liner set in well. What procedure do you suggest for running-in?
As for regular service intervals, I usually get my current ride (Honda Shine) serviced every 2/3 months as I punch it hard with acceleration. So, even now I'll keep getting service every 3 months.Last edited by Zapps; 09-17-2018, 08:41 PM.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Yesterday, serviced my Pulsar 180 UG4 (2011 model) which has run for close to 63,800 Kms and bill came to INR 900. It's just a regular service with engine oil change.
However, while handing over the bike the service advisor said that the bike may need a engine overhaul since it has run more than 60K Kms and it may cost 9K-10K.
Have a question to experts here, is it the right time to do the engine overhaul and also need to know the cost associated with it? The bike still runs like a dream (touchwood) and I don't have major complaints with it till now, so wondering whether can I postpone the job to a later time - say may be around 75K-80K Kms.Last edited by jpcoolguy; 09-27-2018, 05:00 PM.

its just a svc fooling customer technique .
If engine is running fine without any oil consumption ,leakage then dont touch it . factory fitted engine is not achievable even if you replace all the things .

If it were my motorcycle I would've DIY'd the oil change which would've set me back by 250~280/- using decent oil from Shell.Originally posted by jpcoolguy View PostYesterday, serviced my Pulsar 180 UG4 (2011 model) which has run for close to 63,800 Kms and bill came to INR 900. Anyhow, don't go back to the SVC until you have any serious concerns that you are unable to resolve on your own, because these people have a habit of conning unsuspecting users into premature overhauls.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
If you don't face any serious engine problems currently - like sudden decrease in oil level or fuel economy Or some other engine issues, please ignore this non-sense by the service centre people. People have gone beyond one lac km without overhaul.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
I normally do only the basic things like Air Filter cleaning and Chain cleaning and lubing. I normally used to do oil change with SVC itself since I am wary of cleaning the centrigual oil filter myself and trush the SVC on that.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostIf it were my motorcycle I would've DIY'd the oil change which would've set me back by 250~280/- using decent oil from Shell.
I am getting a fuel efficiency in the range of 37-42 kmpl, 37 being lowest in city traffic and 42 being highest in a mix of city/highway traffic.Originally posted by vengymgen View PostHow much mileage you are getting now?
Yes, I have decided to continue with the bike without overhaul for atleast 20K Kms more and decide after that, may be I will upgrade in the mean time.Originally posted by Zapps View PostIf you don't face any serious engine problems currently - like sudden decrease in oil level or fuel economy Or some other engine issues, please ignore this non-sense by the service centre people. SVC Doesn't bother with the centrifugal filter unless you're keeping an eye on them.Originally posted by jpcoolguy View PostI normally do only the basic things like Air Filter cleaning and Chain cleaning and lubing. Don't bother with cleaning the air filter, just replace at 5k intervals.Motorcycling Experience:
