I remember doing a 160kms road trip from bangalore to Dharmapuri on my xtreme with by bro on the zma around a year back the xtreme handled really well and kept up well with the zma but overtaking the zma on the xtreme was not that easy, we even switched bikes a couple of times during the trip and the xtreme did not struggle in maintaining a 90kmph cruising speed the top whack i had done on the xtreme was around 125 kmph and a 130 on the zma all speedo indicated figs.I even managed to overtake my bro a couple of times, but it was mostly cruising along during the majority of the ride.but after the sprocket change on the xtreme with the zma's kit i manage to cruise at 90kmph at somewhere around 6200+ rpm but theres only a couple of kms change in the top end, with a slight increase in fe.

        • I live on the highway i cruise @ 80+ km/hr i maintain those speed for over an hr easily to tell the truth till recently i used to maintain 100+ km/hr on the highway the good part on xtreme is it never gave me below 40km/litre.

Also changed the brake oil they poured this oil from a yellow bottle it said
DOT3. the guy said something about airlock .
My front suspensions height has decreased that is its range of motion has decreased the guy @ a service center said i have to change the oil too.
he was surprised to see my bike had done only 6000kms cause he said front fork oil needed change only after 10000+kms.

The EFL oil is going strong even after 1500kms the 1st gear feels even smoother.gonna change to fully synth soon as its good for highway speeds

^^u r xtreme overtakes a karizma that too @ 125.is the bike modded has it crossed 10000+kms on the oddo

I can keep, up with RTR on the highway he overtakes me easily puts up a gap.the rtr seems to easily increase the gap if throttled to the xtreme once i do the same the gap sure decreases.but cant catch him.i wont say RTR
rapes an xtreme on the highway.but once the roads become crowded
          its a differant matter.

Right now my xtreme has covered around 25K+ kms after around 13+ mts of ownership completely stock other than a change of rear sprocket and A/F ratio tuned constantly according to riding style.

Try switching riders on the rtr many factors like weight riding style may be different
the xtreme has an addictive powerband from 5.5k to 8.5k rpm try shifting differently and see what happens.

Has there been any drop in your oil level? Check esp. at 2,000 km.

Which fully synth have you got in 10w30? I'v never been able to find any.

And brake fluid and fork oil change so soon?? Thats definitely abnormal! Any leakages?

              • thats one hell of a xtreme.the RTR guy is way lighter than me cant help it i have been in the professional weight lifting federation for sometime me a
good 40kgs heavier than the rtr guy (i am err..102kgs @6').

@Raccon The front brake became very spongy lacked the bite and became
scary @ high speeds.the guy said about some airlock and he drained the oil and poured the new one from the little yellow bottle.now the braking has improved.

the guy checked the front suspension and just said the oil needs to be changed and he says not to use the front brakes too often.that was one clever advice i must say.

The fully synth oil i tlked about is CASTROLP1R.bought it 3 months back.i am gonna change it soon.after 1500kms the ELF oil level hasnt changed. This is way way way better than the BP crap that i used earlier

Since i dont have any idea of where to check for these leakages.pls shed some light on the subject.

BTW is their any thread i could post about the movies i saw and which i think r the best etc.'cause i saw this movie THE HURT LOCKER wow what a movie.I enjoyed this movie so much but not as much as V FOR VENDETTA(my all time favourite) but close

                • CP1R is not the right grade for CBZ. Anyway its upto you...

At next oil change you should see even better results with Elf, since all the old oil hasn't been drained off in just one oil change. Approx 300 ml or maybe a bit more of old oil remains inside and gets mixed with the new oil.

Leakeages.... quite easy to detect. Just see if there is any oil anywhere around the forks ESPECIALLY near the seals. For brakes... check everywhere along the lines...

Hope you used KBX brake fluid.

                  • i'm goin solo on a 900+ KMS. round trip with my 3.3K kms old hunk this thursday morning. pls. advice me what maximum speed would be best for touring that much distance w/o stressing the engine. it may take me as long as 10 houts to reach the destination(with break in per 80-100kms) and yes i changed the engine oil 5 days ago(caltex havoline 4T)
                    Pls advice.

                    • ^^^Approx. 50 kmpl would be optimal. However, you may find that too slow on the highway, so mebbbe around 80 kmpl. If you arent bothered about optimal speed.... you can even go top speed... just see that the engine does not overheat. Whats more important is not to keep the speed constant for too long... this stresses the engine.

                      Caltex Havoline has 10W30 oil???

i personally feel this brand is not good. engine become harsh very soon, by 800~1200kms.

                        do castrol has 10w 30??

                          • Hmmm... If you go full speed for long distances in hot weather, the engine will get very hot, and thats expected. Now the question is how hot is ok and at what temperature can it be considered to be overheating. Very difficult to explain online. I guess its something you get to know once you get the knack of things. So it will be very difficult to tell you online if your is overheating or just normally hot. I suggest you ask somebody competent, who can physically check your bike.

If your usage pattern is such that your engine does get REALLY hot between trips, then you would do well to take small breaks to let it cool down.

Normally, when you are travelling really fast, the air will also be cooling your engine at a much faster rate. So make sure you have not installed anything that obstructs air flow around the engine. Also, keeping the engine, fins, exhaust, etc., clean and dust/mud free will help a small bit.

But generally speaking, if your bike is perfectly tuned, with air cleaner cleaned, etc, has a good engine oil which has been changed per schedule, then its very unlikely that a Honda will "overheat".... unless its really pushed to the limit on a really hot day.

As for the Havoline oil... sorry to hear that its not great. Are you sure its a 1ow30 bike oil? Why dont you try Gulf Pride 4T... or Elf?

                              +1 for the ELF

                              • On highway 80 kmph is the best. Good for the bike and good for the rider. One can easily do around 75-100 km at a stretch. I feel break at every 40 km is too little.
