Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator

Need bit information from Dio(or any other fibre body scooter) owners.

A friend of mine who owns RayZR said that fibre body scooters tends to loose screws over time & need tightening every 3 to 4 months & that doesn't happen to metal body scooters. How true is that?

Hello everyone, i want some suggestions regarding the headlight of my Activa 125. It is an year old now and i want to upgrade the headlights for night riding.

Please suggest some good upgrade. I have seen Phillips Blue Vision bulb in my friend's Activa 125 and it wasn't much of a difference from the stock one. Kindly suggest me a good bulb for night riding.

If oil consumption is the issue, try a 20w40 oil like the shell ax5. It might reduce consumption issue, but again really depends on how much damage has already been caused.
These days I've noticed that buying online on Amazon is cheaper than local stores. Look out for deals online.
Shell ax5 20w40, motul 3100 20w40 are all suitable oils.
If you want to stick to w30 oils, then motul, Castrol, shell all have oils in this grade.. Pick the cheapest.

Then try the servo scooter oil. Its the cheapest but is always sold at mrp at the resoective petrol bunk(IOC). Others maybe cheaper if a discount is given at the shop.

One more question, someone told me
    1. Honda old Activa 100cc Model :KPLA, its roller is 1814_11 gram, same as you said. Here 1814 means roller’s diameter is 18mm and width or height in 14mm.
    2. Honda Activa HET 2013 new Model :WPG 109cc, its roller is 2015_17gram,

Here 2015,means roller’s diameter is 20mm and width or height is 15mm.
Do you have any information about this ? and what is the roller diameter and width of roller in your old activa/dio (102cc) ?

    Thanks again,
I found some good info on the roller weights from an oem supplier (skf) who are well known in the bearings market.
    Parts

The 102 cc models do indeed have 11g roller (i also remember seeing 11g printed on the original part packaging when i replaced it)

The later model from around 2009 onwards i.e. 110cc ones have the 17.5g roller . Later the 110cc became the 'HET', with essentially the same displacement but improvements as i mentioned earlier. So the activa 110cc het (currently 5g for 2018 ) still probably continues to use the same 17.5g roller.

I stumbled upon this link from skf.. pretty useful if you want to search for bearings, coneset for your vehicles.

I certainly hope that Honda improves upon ride and handling of Activa. But Honda has been know to lag its competitors in terms of features offered on the scooter as well as ride and handling. This has been true in case of cars and two-wheelers. Unless there is a competitor product which offers a particular feature, Honda will not introduce that particular set of feature.
Honda Scooters' rear suspension have always been the Achilles' Heel. One who's ridden the Dio in special would know how hard the suspension is. The dated tube type front suspension is hard as rock and the rear is equally tormenting. Though people have changed the rear shock of Dio/Activa to that of Wego (disambiguation noted). As you've rightly stated, Suzuki isn't any better compared to Honda in the suspension department, but they offer good damping though going over a hard bump, one won't feel big a difference between both.

Low speed undulations are very well damped, and the overall front end feedback is positive in the Suzuki when compared to other scooters. TVS offers better comfort when it comes to both H and S and have a decently sprung setup.

    Cheers!

suzuki access engine is not strong as of an activa,it needs reboring prior to an activa

    Thanks again,
102cc is also commonly referred to as the 100cc activa/dio.. both share same engine.
i think the roller dimensions are 16x13 on the 102 cc dio. this is from my digging around various manuals/scooter parts sites.. i haven't physically measured the size or weight. i think i have a set of used rollers lying around, ill see if i can measure the dimensions and post that info here in a day or two.

    Hi,

    I recently purchased a activa 125 bs4 model, i am facing vibration @ 55 - 60 kmph. After crossing 60 kmph vibration gone automatically.
    what is the reason?

good luck trying to find those specs i haven't seen them specified anywhere on the manual.
but if my memory serves me right, i think the ones on the old activa/dio (102cc) were 11g (i think i saw something like 11g printed on the packet when i bought the rollers). i haven't really paid much attention to the parts on the later models .. i own the old 102cc model dio and this was also sold as the scv lead in the uk and parts manual/specs are available if you do a bit of searching on the internet.

also am not sure the exact changes between het 2013 and 2015.. changes if any should be minor and mostly cosmetic. what was more significant was with the het initially they bought in offset crank and thinner rings to reduce friction.. later iteration of the het based models did not have any significant mechanical changes i guess.
