    Hi,

Yes it is the same noise/engine strain and i am sure it takes out all the riding pleasure from you as well. Just few points to clarify

Are you also facing this issue only after putting AX7 oil from Shell
Did you do any tappet adjustment and was that useful
How could the engine oil change have an effect on the tappet adjustment

When i went to the service centre, they have replaced the kit valve set, gasket cylinder head, gasket head cover, ringset piston and the guide in valve and including labour it costed 2200 rupees . After this the issue got solved by about 50 percent, but still some engine strain/roughness is there.

Please let me know, if you have or you could solve this issue.

    Thanks

Anyway most people sell off their bikes at 60-70 kms on odometer.
I recently spoke to a guy who had brought his 2006 unicorn for a complete engine rebuild. I was shocked to see the odo reading of 32k km. Upon asking him why he had needed to do an engine rebuild at such low kms, he replied that the actual reading should be 1,35,000km!!! He had run 3000km with broken speedo cable. He had also never gone for a rebore. My mind was blown as the highest odo reading I had seen on a uni was around 75k or 80k kms and even that bike had gone for a rebore at 60k kms. This guy was a medical rep and said he covered almost 150 to 200 kms a day travelling between Kochi and thrissur. He mentioned he changed the engine oil every 2000-2500km and had initially used 10w30 but started using 20w40 from past 2 years. p.s his engine rebuild cost 22k in parts and labour. Done at johns Honda, thrissur

I had a talk with a mechanic he said its a TAPPET noise and on checking oil he said it has become too thin so that might be one reason for roughness and besides HE ALSO SUGGESTED if you are not going to drive for few months don't do it now do it at later when u plan to ride regularly

I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE TAPPET WORD FROM somebody locals mouth
Anyway be patient ill be updating about issue but only after may

Thanks for sharing - I thought the 150cc from Honda is incapable for crossing 1 lac in Indian conditions (have not heard any till this one). But regular service and not-abusing can make this gem cross a lac easily . Eterno had a Honda recommended oil change interval of 3000 kms - this is an ideal change interval for mineral oils.

And in general, the bikes that cross a lac easily on their odometers are usually the ones that have a minimum of 100-150 kms per day running, i.e., people who take them to work under highway-ish conditions. Highway running is less stressful for the bike (?) compared to constant stop-and-go city traffic. We can also observe that these mile munchers spend less on spares - for example if one uses the brake 10 times in 1 km in the city, the same is used one once every 10 kms on a free highway. The battery too is sufficiently charged to keep it ticking very long.

It will just cost you less than 500 rs. Also while sending it to lathe ask them to insert sleeve for the other bolt also so that it won't create any problems in future. But first you should try to wrap some aluminium foil paper around the bolt threads and tight gently it may work. I am also running with this on my xtreme.
              Thank you Sir,

I took help of my local Mechanic. In Lathe, I was charged 150 RS for both sides.

Mechanic asked 100 RS as labor and also adjusted tappet which was making much noise.

Now the bike is running smooth as before in the 60KMPH mark.

From my personal experience, the oil is good till 2k-2.2k kms.

                  What smell do you get??

Are you starting the bike in enclosed area? If it is definitely "burning" smell take a look at the spark plug for any oil deposits, insert your finger at the silencer tip and check for gummy residue. Change the airfilter and tune the carburetor and see if the smell goes aways.Use Mobil Delvac 1300/1400 I am very much satisfied with this oil in my Unicorn.

i checked silencer thoroughly there were no deposits but mu finger got black when i inserted into silencer hopefully its normal ?
besides yes i start the bike in enclosed area and about spark plug i shall check soon thank you

besides my gear shifting is still hard from 1st to 2nd gear even after 2 years
does it mean service centres never cleaned the chain ?

I don't know the exact reason for the hard shift.
Service center people don't clean the chain in general service(I've never seen chain cleaning for unicorn besides waterwash).
Why can't you clean the chain by yourself? There are a lot of threads in DIY section.

A bit of dirty chain won't cause hard gear shifts, but tight chain can.
Check your chain slack and ensure it has enough slack as mentioned in manual.
Check clutch setting, again, leave enough play on the gear lever as mentioned in manual.
And, if you are revving hard in first gear, then it may result in hard/noisy gear shifts.

It could be stuck valve issue, which I've read in this forum happening with Hero/Honda engines. Try cranking the engine continuously using starter when this happens.
You may also try this tip from Sibun.
