      • Unleashing My CB Uni

Y is the thread so dull wingies! I am from hyderabad Anywas I've discovered xBhp recently my Uni is 4 months old and has just clocked 4000 kms..I was not aware of the run in period ,though I just had an idea that rpm should be maintained low and it should not be revved..well initially it used to give me 52kmpl and now somewhere around 48-50 ..please be careful where you fill the petrol guys I use Bharat petroleum from day 1(one opposite to Gokul theatre,erragadda)..though I dont have much knowledge about the mechanics of bike,I'm just learning it for my uni..If there is any wing rider out here who is free enough to spend some time..I would love to!

        Three cheers for HONDA

BTW Any of you guys purchased riding gear for uni..am planing to go with DSG Nero(jacket) , DSG revive (gloves) any suggestions???

        • New wing rider

Hello everyone, this is my first post and im a proud owner of a used 05 red honda unicorn since 2 days im really happy coz this is my first geared bike before this i had a kine for 2 years so i've just learnt to ride a geared vehicle. I hav a lot of questions to ask so pls don mind
So since this is a used bike its paint is a little dull ( no scratches or dents though) so i wanna know how to bring back the colour depth and shine to the bike, i read somewhere to wax the bike or should i do a teflon coat for shine? And which wax is cheap and best? Turtle wax i've heard a lot of but my friends say i should use waxpol, is it better?
And my next question is there are tiny paint droplets on the bike how do i safely remove those?
Below are my bike pics and the third pic is how i want my bike to look

How much does it cost? And also can someone tell me how much does it cost to install a self start in this bike.

                              • @f0rest

For riding gear, DSG Nero is a good choice. I have been using one from last few months and quite happy with it. I can vouch for its usefulness in rains too as I have faced heavy rains 3-4 times in Pune with Nero on.
Only issue is, it feels quite hot in it. In summber, in my 14 kms ride from home to office, I used to get drenched in sweat. This was after I removed inner linings and opened all the sockets for air flow. Anyways, I would recommend it.

I see that you have got a bike of 2005, similar to mine. I have 1st gen Uni in black. Few months back I was getting frequent punctures. I felt better after switching to tubeless tyres. I had to put alloys for that though. Now bike feels more reliable, no punctures after that.

Also, my bike's mileage has been quite good last few months. It was down to 42 last year. After I got it serviced outside ASS, I have started getting mileage between 57-67, depending on my handling, traffic etc. So you can also try to get similar mileage as it would be the same model.

For paint, I use teflon from ASS atleast thrice a year. This has been working till date.

All the best and happy riding.
