So you do city riding or highways riding? How much km a day?Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostKarizma Parts Manual - https://picasaweb.google.com/1010125...rizmaCatalogue

For long and continuous ride 20W40 will be best,it will reduce engine vibrations,Smooth gear shifts and engine will run cool and silent.
20W40 oil need more time to warm up when compared to 10W30,So if you travel less distances, then 10W30 will be the best for you.
If coldy areas, then stick with 10W30 oil.

Uni Service
Hey guys,
Sitting in my office , all I could think of was my uni's 3rd service coming up this weekend. So I started to pen down what all needs to be done.
My uni has clocked 4560 kms, in the last service mechanic did not tune the carb saying that it will be done in the next service, how much change in power can I expect?? I have not tuned it since the delivery.I'm putting down some points which I feel are to be done. Please add If any changes are required.
1.Carb Cleaning and tuning
2.Petrol tank cleaning
3.Brake fluid check
4.Spark plug cleaning (clog)
5.mono shock adjustment
6.Chain lubrication
7.Air filter cleaning
8.Gear shaft change( as I have a problem in upshifting from 4 to 5 and while downshifting from 3 to 2 , it gets stuck sometimes)
These are the main things..should I add something, do let me know
thanks
Am planing to be there and get the job done!

i hav a block in my carb i guess, my bike jerks like its out of fuel while riding, i usually ha only 50 rs of fuel in the bike, i asked a mechanic he said that bikes like uni need 2 ltrs minimum fuel to run properly is that true? can't i ride the bike till the fuel is dry? coz my bike aint moving with half liter fuel

For what are you tuning the carb? Do you experience any problems? Never touch or change the company settings unless you have any problems with it,Playing with carb is not an easy task,If any thing wrong has been done to the carb, you cannot revert back to stock setting and will destroy the power and a new carb will cost you a bomb!Originally posted by f0rest View PostMy uni has clocked 4560 kms, in the last service mechanic did not tune the carb saying that it will be done in the next service, how much change in power can I expect?? You wont get any power increase with carb tuning,We can set the fuel flow on carb,We can set it to:
LEAN(LESS FUEL=MORE MILEAGE)
Tip of the spark plug will be whitish in color,Making the carb lean is a bad idea,Lean will cause your engine to overheat and will lead to damaging the oil seals,o rings inside the engine. So never do that.
RICH(LESS MILEAGE=MORE THROTTLE RESPONSE)
Tip of the spark plug will be black in color,I have done this on my bike,N problem, but never over rich,it will make a drastic drop in mileage!
OPTIMAL(EQUAL POWER & MILEAGE)
Tip of the spark plug will be in tan(light brown) color,This is the optimal setting,no loss in power and mileage.
All these can be found out by removing and checking the spark plug.
your bike is only 4560kms,not needed IMO.1.Carb Cleaning and tuning
2.Petrol tank cleaning
Chain adjustment if needed,Check brakes and get it adjusted if necessary.,Check air pressure in tires.3.Brake fluid check
4.Spark plug cleaning (clog)
5.mono shock adjustment
6.Chain lubrication
7.Air filter cleaning
8.Gear shaft change( as I have a problem in upshifting from 4 to 5 and while downshifting from 3 to 2 , it gets stuck sometimes)
No bike will ran completely dry, there will be some petrol left in the tank, same in case of my karizma too,I think the Mech is right,I had the same problem when petrol level decreases in res mode, not so smoothy rides, but after a fill,It will came back to normal, keep petrol above reserve.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View Posti hav a block in my carb i guess, my bike jerks like its out of fuel while riding, i usually ha only 50 rs of fuel in the bike, i asked a mechanic he said that bikes like uni need 2 ltrs minimum fuel to run properly is that true? can't i ride the bike till the fuel is dry? coz my bike aint moving with half liter fuel

Yes,its possible in scooters as they dont have reserve.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostPetrol above reserve? Hmm dat'll be tough coz of the increasing fuel prices
but my kine did not face this issue, the bike would run properly till the tank is completely dry and then only it would turn off, nd it gives 40 mileage too its one blessed bike
