there is no cold start issue, the engine fires with just a push on starter button....so i think the bike is currently running on a rich mixture...but the pickup is also silghtly low...
i ve changed the airfilter sparkplug and engine oil recently...
need to take the bike to some good workshop...

      • poor brake

I own Sept-1-2006 model Honda Unicorn(2nd ver). done 40100 km.

Can anybody suggest any better way to improve front braking power.
The newer pad is of poor quality.
I had changed master-cyln kit myself along with infinite number of bleeding. This is my third set of pad. Is there any other company that makes pads that can be fitted on to it?
Also can the new viscous air filter be fitted on to old motorcycle.

        • I am having a 2005 Unicorn, yesterday send my bike for a routine service, the service fellow called me and said that the front disk pads needs to be change as it is worn out. I said ok , go ahead in the evening they said they were not able to open the brake assembly as a pin was jammed due to rust /dirt. Service supervisor says that they might have to use some force to open the assembly after soaking it in kerosene, in case of damage be prepared to replace the entire front disk brake system which will be a costly affair.
Since it was late evening I decided to leave the brake as-is . My bike is fitted with disk brake supplied by KBX.
I took a test drive and found that the front brakes were even worse than before, guys any suggestion or any such experience with your front disk bikes .

          • Claiming back the love of my Life - HONDA CB UNICORN

I should say, I am already late of owning my very first bike for this passion. Past 30 yet still i have this unwavering passion of beauties of the bikes in me encompassing all of different magical outcome the two-wheeled kingdom has to put forward.

Not until one expatraite told that he is finally leaving for good and wanted to return his bike to the bike showroom, we had agreed to sell his bike to me at a friendly price. I have waited for 3 days until he got all his departure papers in hand before he gave the bike to me. On the very last day before his take off, we had arrange the registration and insurance transferred in my name and that is when I had able to have my very first bike - the HONDA CB UNICORN 150CC.

A few weeks before, I saw an advert selling bike at a very affordable price. Again, I got noticed that the same bike is advertised day by day with the price lowered and lowered everytime a new advert is posted. Seems no one is interested. Perhaps it is, entirely no one in Qatar would likely to buy such a bike since summer is approaching. A scorching temperature of above 35-45 degrees centrigrade is such a torture for any rider. Besides, accidents of cages is already alarming that it became a normal sights in and around highways everyday, thus riding a bike in most of Qatar roads are likely suicidal.

But at the very last moment before I approach the owner, I had made up my mind that if I woudn't do, I won't fulfill my passion - that is, riding and calling it my own. 2 years ago, I have purchased my brother a brand new Honda 110cc underbone bike for him but that was not called my own. Now I have this cute red toy in the garage.

            [IMG][/IMG]
Back in my home countryland, memories still lingers on me about the old faithful bike my father has - the Honda CG125. Even when i was a kid, I was get used to run a Honda. That was my father's first bike and seemingly my paired twin. We were born on the same year. We were raised together and when the time I am able enough to take care of her(Honda) too, she was then became my best childhood friend, my passion, my love and my excitement. In my teenage years we got always a good times together. In the late seventies till eighties, Honda was one a hero in our town. Even until today, Honda flagships still waves faithfully to all loyal Honda owners in all corners of the world.

One factor that push my interest of buying such bike is that because its Honda. Perhaps because we have known in each other since 3 decades ago. I knew how to make her happy. She also knew why i was enjoyed of my time with her. I cannot really explained why. Perhaps because i was longing of my long lost childhood friend. Or am I really dreaming to live back once again with the sweetheart of my life? hmmmmnnn. [IMG][/IMG]

Even my close collegues told me that its crazy to ride a bike in Qatar. It actually echoes in my mind everytime i got bed, "for what purpose? would you dare to put your life in peril out of the lifethreatening dangers out in the roads? cages rolled over, turned upside down, got smashed, tore off and squeezed like aluminum canned coke, so what more is bike like then? But pondering out those circumstances, that won't hinder me. Just for the love and passion, i simply love that bike. Just today, I have claimed back the love of my life living with me.

            • Congratulations! The Unicorn is really one of best handling bikes in India, IMO. Rode it for 20,000 odd kms, and loved every moment i spent with it.

If its ridden for about 10000 kms,you can ask for 55000rs and i think he will easily get that much amount.

                        • Tire upgrade for Unicorn

                          Hi,
I own a 2004 model Honda Unicorn which comes with spokes wheel. The tires are up for a change. I have decided to put michelins on. I am confused between the M45s and the Sirac Street. Which is better? I am confused as to which size put as well. The rear stock tire is a 3.00-18, but I do want a slightly broader tire, not very broad though. The M45 comes in 3.25 size while the Sirac comes in 100/90-18(same size as the stock zappers in the current unicorn). My mechanic says a 100/90-18 would reduce performance and mileage as my bike comes with spokes wheel rather than the lighter mag wheels which are stock now.My priorities are- Performance, Comfort and Mileage. Kindly suggest the most apt ones for my bike.

Also, I am looking to install a round headlamp. Which one would be better, the one on the pulsar classic or the one on Fiero FX? Or is there a bigger/better round headlamp?

Really need some help with this. Thanks.

                            Hey Moe,

Go with the M45 if what you're looking for is good dry weather tyre. The 3.00-18 M45 is not very grippy under wet conditions but in dry its better than the sirac street. However, the sirac street does a good job, whether wet or dry, so its more like an average tyre whereas M45 clearly favours the dry conditions.

The 100/90-18 sized tyre will fill out the rims and the swingarm. The spoke versions of unicorn came with slightly thicker/less roomier swingarms than the alloy versions. The alloys can take upto 120 section tyres with some effort, but the spokes versions can take only upto 100 section tyres. The 3.25-18 may not fit properly, so have a look before you put your money down on it.

Won't be able to help you out with the dome. Will leave that to others.
One motorcycle raced another on public streets.
                            The ambulance won.

Hey thanks for the advice. Will check it before i buy. Also, will it be a god idea to get alloys fixed? Will i have to get any modifications done? Like alter the swingarm or something? I am contemplating putting the ones that come on the New Unicorn. Then will I be able to put the 3.25 M45 or the 100/90 Sirac?

Can some one help me regarding the headlamps too? Kind of a noob when it comes to modifications. Thanks.

The only thing that may hamper you fitting the 3.45s will be the swingarm. The spoke rims will take that easily.
If you're insistent on getting the alloys, go ahead. There won't be any need for modifications though i'd suggest you to try and lift an alloy and then lift your spokes and tell me which one's lighter
The advantage alloys have over the spokes is that'll allow the use of tubeless tyres. Otherwise i didn't see why i should go for alloys myself. Thats close to 5 grands spent on looking good.
Talk to your local trusty mechanic about the headlight dome. You may have to adjust the clamps accordingly to fit them on, which shouldn't be a big job.
