Before I go ahead stating my points, would like to know how old is your bike?Originally posted by fayad555 View PostAnyone tried valvoline 15w50 semi-synthetic oil?
What is the oil currently being used?
Personally have not used it. However, why choosing 15w50? What company recommends is x40. So keep it that way.
I guess you have the x40 in Valvoline too.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

May be Hero Motors tried their best to duplicate what Honda's brilliance. They are not the same. The grade recommended is different by Honda.Originally posted by jeyessh View Postdoes unicorn use x40 oil? im asking because my hunk uses w30 oil...basically both are the same engines but how come they use different grades?RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Some facts about Unicorn.. which might be useful to others.
Disclaimer: The below details are taken from different websites, xbhp, Honda User Manual. I'm not held responsible for any mishap happening due to this list!
Unicorn buying checklist:
--------------------------
1. Ask for User manual, invoice bills.
2. Check if all electricals are fine.(accessories, the indicators, high beam low beam, horn.)
3. Ask for tyre pressure for front and back.
4. Check the tyres are of MRF.
5. Ask for which battery they have given and is it maintainence free.
6. check for any brake fluid leaks. Start the engine and don't allow the rpm to go beyond 4-5K even on idle.
7. Tool Kit.(2 wrenchs,screwdriver,spark plug,handlebar,band tool, tool bag).
8. Check tyres for any bulges or wear and tear.
9. Check Frame number(on the right side of the frame) and Engine number(near the gear lever) is same as in RC book/smart card.
================================================== ====================
During Run-In Period:
--------------------
This is what i did, first 500 kms(first service) did not exceed 60kmph and 4K rpm, i got FE of 51 till my first service and roughy 58 after
that and i normally ride in the range of 50-70kmph. be gentle to it it will take some time to adjust to the new bike.
Don't cross 6-7K rpm till u are done with your second service, that would be not going beyond 80kmph.During second service mechanic looks into the engine for inspection if you do not have any issues with engine and mileage tell him not to meddle with the Carb settings.
According to Honda Website, Unicorn front tyre pressure is 25.38 psi and back is 29 psi ONLY.
================================================== ====================
General Things to Know:
-----------------------
1. Recommended Spark Plugs = CPR8EA -9 (NGK) or UR5DC (BOSCH)
2. Throttle screw is placed on the right side of the vehicle(In front of the right side cover).
3. Engine oil capacity is 1L.

Can somebody let me know about the tyre pressure for Unicorn spoke wheel model?
Let me tell you the details:
Model - 2005
Spoke wheel
Front Tyre - MRF - Stock
Rear Tyre - 100/90 X18"
Make: MRF
Currently I ride with tyre pressure for front wheel 25 and back 35. Is this correct? I've been following the age old right from RX. I'm due for a long trip sometime shortly. I have misplaced the Owner's manual somewhere, service centers have variety of suggestions. So, I need some help here.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

CB-Unicorn engine problem
Hi,
Recently I bought CB-Unicorn in June'10. For the first 500 kms, I maintained speed less than 60kms. Later When I tried with speed exceeding 60kms, I am feeling engine showing some heavyness, i.e getting vibration.
Also when speed crossed 60kms, engine sometimes gives a jerk . i feel flow of oil is affecting due to which engine stops and starts.
What i can do to rectify this problem. I have completed 2 servicing. Please let anyone know to fix this engine problem. Thanks.

Hello.. The service center guys tell me to change the chain.. (as its life is finished according to them..) i asked how do they know by just looking at my bike.. they said that the nut just above the brakes (parallel to chain/rear wheel central Axle) is tightened to its max.. but my local mech. told its fine..
cost of replacement : Rs. 1000

@All Unicorn owners: My friend is looking for a maintenance free battery replacement for his button start Unicorn, but we are unable to find 12V 7aH battery in Tata Green, Minda, Exide, and also Amaron!
All they have is 2.5aH, 5aH&9aH. He does not want to go in for the bigger 9aH, wants to stick to the stock 7aH only.
Can anyone guide us as to which company is making MF batteries of 12V 7aH, so that we may pursue it?
Inputs from Hyderabad owners would be more appreciated!
Thanks in advance.Quench my thirst with gasoline!
