Buddy Even its low for me too..

      But I'm getting 40-42KMPL...
I used to get 50-54... and i stopped checking...

recently my bike clocked 46k odo and i checked to find it was giving only 40-42..

Did the SVC screwed it up?

If yes, how to report this to HMSI..

Here's my take. Till last week I was riding in peak Chennai traffic. My bike gave me exactly 50km to the litre.
Now I am back in Manipal (rural Karnataka). I see the mileage dipping to 40-45 kmpl. They say fuel quality is bad far away from urban areas. Something to do with more fuel supplies being routed to power-hungry cities. So rural fuel pump owners are forced to adulterate petrol.
Where are you located? If it's not an urban area, try to find out a fuel station with the best possible fuel quality in your area.

(Edit:I forgot to think about one thing. Manipal takes away 2-3 km of per litre mileage because of the hilly and inclined roads here. I wonder just how much bad fuel affects mileage. Hmm....)

tis is to all those unicorn riders...i own a CB Unicorn and had the first service done last week since i wanted to do the runin properly i never crossed 60, after the first service i tried to cross 65 barrier today on the way to my office. i hear lot of plp speaking abt the vibrations tat is very minimal in Unicorn compared to other bikes..but today at 65 i felt vibrations at >5K rpm but the same do not exist if i am <5K at the same speed..
do u guys also hav some vibrations for >5K rpm or am i just being sensitive here in this case..
i hav plans to hit 80-90 or may b 100kmph after 1500kms or may be after second service but with today's experience i am a bit apprehensive to even cross 75.
expecting some replys frm the experienced Unicorn lovers/riders(ones who vouch for Unicorn)
I ve had my Uni 4th Gen for a year now,
I ve seen the exact thing you mention, Vibes between 4,700 - 5200 rpm. After a Service it is not that noticible for like 10-15 days, but then comes back.
I have grown a little older and lost some hair testing this on other uni's and complaining to honda and getting the bike checked in the past one year. Many times a Tappet check(Valve timing) adjustment helps for sometime, but this might reappear.

conclusion: The Unicorn is very smooth otherwise, and this is the biggest reason that the vibes in this range are evident, the best way to feel good here is to ride a pulsar or an apache(especially for the vibes) and then ride your Uni again and feel heaven :-)
On a serious note, now after a year i am planning to migrate to Semi synth oil, Castrol or VP4T, will give a review once i have tested it out.

I am not an expert on this, but i have read online that, during the initial run in periods a little friction is good to set in the pistons and the cylinder, hence using synthetic lubes( that are more slippery than mineral oil based lubes(like honda oil) should not be done early on, rather should be done later after a few thousand km once the bike has settled in.
Now after clocking ~7k Km in a year, i just changed engine oil to Valvoline Premium 4T, 1lts pack costs Rs 275. Engine sound and the noted vibes have definitely reduced, but its just been a day, so will observe for longer and post my obvervations.

Got that changed in my 1st service, cost me about 120 bucks @ Honda service centre.

Perfectly normal. Adjust your clutch according to your comfort and not by checking rear wheel rotation. Besides, while you're on the road, you shouldn't be holding the clutch in for too long but shift to neutral instead.
                      Keep the rubber side down.

                        • hello guys,
past few days i hav become quite apprehensive abt my Unicorn whether i hav screwed up the gearbox...
                          1) wen im in 1st gear suddenly the bike sometimes comes to neutral tis was not happening earlier...i hav loosened the clucth and i find the idle rpm is increasing after some ride...
tis happened a couple of days back...i was in 1st gear suddenly it went to neutral and i dint realise it, the rpm shot up and i shifted to second gear a loud thud noise of shifting gear...ever since that has happened im not a happy man these days...
                          2) and the other day my engine stopped wen i shifted from 2nd gear to neutral and disengaged the clucth...

but i dont find any problem once i start cruising...the bike performance is just amazing which is makin me think that the problems stated above are not serious...both 1) and 2) are not consistent issues..
i hav started riding it very carefully...and did not notice any problem today...

pls let me know if u guys hav experienced it before or some kindof explanation or do i need to go to service centre...

                          • Hi
I purchased a CB Unicorn on 14 Jun (1.5 months back(and been riding happily since then within speed specified for running in condition

I have a problem (Not sure whether big or small) with the bike as below: When i go at 40-50 KMPH speed and try to maneuver, the bike tends to resist to turn and goes in straight line giving a very scary feeling of falling down.

First time, when i noticed this, I was going very near to an Auto at 40 KMPH. The auto driver suddenly applied brakes and reduced the speed. I just turned the handle towards right to avoid but, bike resisted to turn and continued to go in its own direction i thought I am almost gone and am going to hit Auto, but, put heavy pressure on handle to turn and somehow escaped. Nothing happened..
But, after this, i experimented the same in safe place and observed the handle is very tight. Even, when the vehicle is being parked, the same problem.. I am not able to turn the handle to straight position frm the locekd position(in off mode)

I complained this to Service station earlier but, the problem is not rectified.
                            1. Is there any serious issue or this is normal since bike is new?
                            2. Are service guys so bad in HMSI that they dont even take care of these small repair requests assuming the issue is small(I am new to Honda, so this question)
                            3. Is there anything to be replaced in the bike (Since the bike is new and in warranty, i can go and ask for replace if the issue is related to say, forke or something major)

Nothing serious or a major issue with your bike.. Check for cables obstructing the movement of the handle, if any... Even when my bike was new, I faced this prob but got it rectified by visiting the service center just once, so it should not be a problem..

Definitely not a problem...jus try to see wat is obstructing the handle to move on center stand...i guess u were not ready to take a quick turn at 40kmph which made u feel that the handle bar is stuck...once u get used to the bike u'll handle the bike with more confidence...
