6k would be good enough and i guess the uni's power band is good enough, and if still wanna go for the ffe do some rejetting..
it will sound good and move good with out rejetting when fitted to the carb directly, but will damage ur engine in the lang run if not rejetted..

Yes Dude, it works, but not too sure if it harms the engine in anyway... In fact, i've been using this technique on my dad's 1985 model Ind-Suzuki (AX 100), my RX 135 and now Unicorn... Haven't had any problems till date on the older bikes...

Ok, sounds good... though the wait till 6k is gonna be a killer... shit, totally need to do some touring in the next month or so!!!

Re jetting, any idea what the stock jet sizes are?? and re jetting to what size ideally??

PLus I'm thinking of using "Green" Air Filter. Costs bout the same as a K&N but has better moisture retention is what I have come to believe..

It filters upto .50 Microns.. ANy idea what the K&N Filters upto??

you can change to a nightbreaker. Just that I don't know how much of the required power will finally reach the bulb. I have a 55/60W Halogen on my Unicorn and it doesn't burn at full capacity. So don't get the full beam.

Dual horns, possible. Make sure you use a horn relay which is wired properly. Will help save battery and horn switch.

Advantages of K&N, from all that I know, have seen, experienced.. good increase in power, mileage and overall performance. What is the new jetting size, well ask the K&N dealer to give you jets as well if they have.

Nightbreaker is Rs 600/- from what I last heard.
Dual set of horns, standard horns range from 250/- to 400/- a pair.
                    Horn Relay - 100/-

K&N is 1400/- to 1700/- depending on model.

what i have observe till now is 4th genration uni's are more peppier then old ones... 4th gen uni do reach 0-80km quickly in comparision with old generation uni's.....they also do bit more roaring then old ones

as far as top end is concerned i think top speed should be the same ....till now most i have reached was 100kmph that was reached effortlesly by uni...so uni is definately capable of reaching speedometer indicated 120kmph

                        • ^^ Yes they are a peppier lot, but have sacrificed on the refinement bit.

                          • Gents, I need to paint the license plates. Can I unscrew them and take it with me by my car or do I need to take the bike itself to the painter ?

From what I saw the reg plates were screwed from behind and some paint or wax type was on the screws, is it wise to scratch that off and take out the plates ?

                            • Errr.. Actually its the other way round
The spoke-wheel shod Uni's are quicker every which way as they are 7-8 kilos lighter than the alloy-wheel versions.
Also, Im told by Joel saar that the current iteration runs a smaller main-jet for better FE. Hence, the 4th gen bikes are far more refined and probably have better FE. But unfortunately, are also considerably slower than the first and second gen bikes thanks to the weight gain and the miserly main-jet.

Love the added refinement and the spruced up looks though

and reached 125 with a k&n and some big a$$ main and slow jets...
and abt the 4th gen being quicker, who said that???
i outran each and every 4th gen uni with my 1st gen which i did not even change the cluthch plates even after 50K...
