Ride like free spirit? Not really. Free spirit sounds like you mean ride which ever you fee like. That isnt the case. The method is called Motoman's break in.

Aah, Break In sounds cooler than run in.. well the deal is if you look at the unicorn manual this is what it states

"Help assure your motorcycle's future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you ride during the first 500km
During this period, avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration"

Of which I do neither.. So basically based on understanding of the concept of run in, and based on how I have run in my car on long distances and mostly all the vehicles owned in the family, its a good deal.

hmmm, that is something to ponder on!!

        • spongy disk brakes..

this is how i get rid of that problem..

          this might be dengerous..

          1] open nuts

          2] takeout brake assmbly

3] find the clip on rod holding brake shoe .. remove it.

4] then to remove rod by hitting it with nail from the side where dia is less.. it will come out with brake shoes..

          5] ready carosine and brush

6] clean them good[...brakeshoes] with it!

7] then burn tem redhot on gas

          8] immidietly water them

          9] cool them.. dry them

10] they bcam crisp .. with a punch..

          11] fit them ..enjoy!

            • ^^^ or just take the bike to a mechanic, get the brake calipers opened, take out the pads, sandpaper them or apply brake cleaning spray... replace them.

Even simpler though less effective is to spray De-Greaser on the disc on both the sides... rotate the disc with applying brakes a few times and wipe off the disc clean... this removes some dirt off the pads and betters the bite after running a few KMs - Be Aware, initially the de-greaser would make your brake feel spongy.

              • well.. i wanted to do it my self.. why ask mech for it.. it is not so hard diy-job ..

btw may b my mathod will clean them at molecular level .. and may add some fatigue registance too .. coz heating & cooling like this makes things brittle and hard but less elastic..

and if shoe material is supposed to b spungy then it may not b same after that process.

the sound from below ur seat might be of the tool kit or the rear stop light assembly..

                          • ok, I am the owner of a new 09 model Unicorn. Since I have never ridden motorbikes before and have graduated to this directly from a LML Vespa T5 which I used to ride around a decade ago. The Unicorn is just a few days old and my initial riding experience has been positive.

                            1. Gears are really soft and smooth. No effort needed.
                            2. The bike is really heavy and myself at 6'3 and 120 kg (of muscle) finds it difficult to manage this bike since it is heavier than me.
                            3. Honda dealer has taken money for Crash Guard but has not installed it yet, promised to install it at first service.
                            4. The seat height is rather high and my father who at 5'4 or 5'5 finds it difficult to mount the rear seat. Hopefully the suspension can be lowered to make it more comfortable for him.
                            5. After graduating from scooter and that too after such a long lag, the foot gear system in bikes poses a few tricks for me. For example it is difficult for me to figure out whether gear in second or third when I upshift from neutral. Sometimes the gear skips one probably due to my lack of subtlety in changing.

Always wanted a good Japanese commuter bike for reliability and hopefully this bike will be good for that. Also plan on having a 'fun' bike for weekends and 'soft racing' still not decided on what that would be, whether it should be a Yamaha R15 or Karizma.

                            Photos to be updated shortly.

                            thankyou

Dude, the logic of rider's weights Vs Bike's weight doesn't apply... I stand 5'9" & 73 kg, if i take your logic into account, i wouldn't be able to drive any of the bikes in India (Not even a Platina ), so will be the case with all the other guys in India... Should say, you are strong guy for a Unicorn , donna worry you should be able to tame it very easily... Its a matter of time

Same case with my dad too... He's also around 5'4"... He's invented a new way of climbing my bike, he places himself behind the bike and its somewhat easier for him to climb as he's got more space to swing his leg and it made lotta difference, maybe you should suggest the same to your dad... Even if it doesn't work, foot-rest is the next option
