  • Is anyone here running a different headlamp set up on their bikes? Osram NB's, HID's or otherwise. I'm looking to improve the lamps, the stock lights are almost totally useless ( as someone put it 'like riding with a candle upfront').

I'm considering ONB's, either a 35W or 55W, cos' that is all i can afford right now. Will a 35W ONB be way better than the stock 35W. Also, i'm not looking to rewind my stock coils or get new ones so the higher wattages are out.

And, any idea if a 55W ONB running at ~40W ( i guess that is the stock coil o/p) is better than the 35W ONB.

    • na...
i already contacted the factory techs and also castrol bike zone techs...
both of them say that just replacing the bulb will not do any good since the input is for the 35w factory bulb
any higher watt bulb will also give the same light as the stock 35w
i tried the h4 35w and my speedo's became very dull
RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!

        2) You cannot downshift very fast on uni, has to be 2 sec gap between each gear and always engage clutch while downshifting and blip the throttle to match engine speed, it'll help ur engine last longer and become smoother.

3)Yes the Honda Svc ppl are very particular about using "Honda" Oil, use it religiously till warranty, than go for Castrol power 1, u'll be amazed by the difference.

Problem 1 : Oil leak - Have you checked the oil seal , if not since your bike is still under warranty take it to the service center as early as possible and get it fixed .

Problem 2 : Down shifting - Honestly bro i am also facing the same problem as well . Cannot down shift quickly . I assume the gears are designed that way and the click sound can be avoided with the speed with which we change the gear . Means if we down shift with a small delay i don't hear the click , But that's only in rare cases . One thing you can check though , if the chain is tight or not .

Changing the engine Oil is not advisable since you are in the warranty period . Then depends on the rappo you have with the service people .
May I know on which part I can find this oil seal???
The leak is observed in the top most part of the engine. (Fins just near the exhaust connection).

I guess changing oil wont void warranty. I am using the 20W40 oil itself. The bike is due for its 4th service. Will take it to svc next Saturday. Chain is loose. It got loose by about 3000kms. Tightened it. Now again loose at 4500.

I am changing oil to check whether it could help for some degree in solving the gear problem!

Warranty will hold good if you are using right specification of oil!

              • Changing the make of oil does not void warranty if asked. I have never used Honda oil right from the 1st service and it has not voided warranty. But I make sure that I ask the service centre before changing the oil and I make them write on the job card telling the mechs not to change oil during the service.

                • Hi well all of my unicorn lovers well I have tried something better for my bike this time.
Well first of all have u all have heard about 3m company? If not it is the best.

Well I just changed my engine oil plus i added a engine oil plus of 3m which has made my bike like butter. The gear shift has improved so much like wow. The starting is also been changed and above all the noice of the bike has improved like to anything the ride has become so so so smooth that it is hard to explain untill and unless u all try it on your babies.
Well i use a catrol active engine oil 20w40. Not the companies because by bike was making hell of a sound with there engine oil so i changed to castrol plus as I have told u that I am adding this product well it is not to expensive just for 130rs. Just like nulon. But far far better than that company nulon. Plus I added another thing which was a fuel addictive which was to be put with a 10 lt. tank which was for 230rs. Well it opens the carborator chambers for better performance of the bike.

Well u all can try it out by adding engine oil plus and dont forget to mention thanx.
Well the engineer has also seen my bike and has approved that I can use it and he told me that he will be speaking to the company about it.
Well couple of my friends have also added this on there bike and they said wow. lovely product.

                      Hi bro

I was going through the website of the product which you mentioned

                      3M India: Engine Oil Additive

No where it's mentioned that it can be used for bikes . Could you explain why is that so or if you have any further details related to that product it would be of great help .

The Nulon additive that was in vogue a few months back is actually harmful for the bike. The additive isnt meant to be used in vehicles where the clutch runs in the engine oil i.e wet-clutch systems.

The additive was seen to cause clutch slippage and hence premature wearing of the plates. People who are aware of this fact have stayed away from the additive. The 3M stuff too probably might lead to the same problem and its advisable to stay away from it...

                        Cheers..!!

yep thats right.Rather than using these additives, one can opt for using full synthetic engine oil.

What about the transmission oil additive from 3-M. It wont harm the wet clutch!

                              Probably true
But im unable to understand the need for an additive. Is anyone facing tranny/engine related issues which is prompting them to look for 'additives'..?

                                Hi

Just to put some light to this topic . We are discussing this because one of our friends who has a Uni is using the 3 M oil along with Castrol + on his Honda Uni & according to him its performing well . ( @ arjunb25 is using this combination )

Now when i checked the oil is not meant for bikes , they are only for Cars . Now lets know from arjunb25 if he was advised by any mechanic to use this oil or he has done it with some friends advice and if its really worth using it .
