This was fitted from Honda itself for Rs 150. The quality of the material and the foam inside is way better than the ones available outside. Moreover it has a chain mechanism and can be removed whenever needed. There is a printed honda logo which is visible from the rear.

Thats cool! By what name they call it? wanna check in with d ASC. Uni's grab rails are most prone to loose paints.

Didn't have any specific name though. I just saw it being fitted on another unicorn and checked it out.
They even have a good quality seat cover with lamination for Rs400. Though overpriced, i wouldn't mind it if it was not for the overdone honda logo stitching on the seat cover.
        Do check both of them.

Now can somebody please check and let me know what are those tubes near the mono shock in the pictures i have previously attached.

K, just wanted to know if the rail cover is genuine honda accessory or the one provided by the dealer. Does it has any dealer logo or just the honda logo. Haven't seen any thing like that in ma area. Got little time to check with the dealer!!

Those are crankcase breathers; function is to vent the crankcase.

Is it wise to go to Showroom and fix it or to fix it locally. I found a shop near Porur (Chennai) who said he will fix it for 900 rs. My Friend is suggesting to fix it at Pudhupet where everything is computerized.

Has anyone in Chennai tried fixing the Chassis. ? Please throw some light on this.
Yes, my bike fell once and got the whole assembly inside the steering handle changed (the mechanic was calling it forks but I don't know whether he was using the right term or not). I would recommend you to go to the authorized service station for major jobs like this. They might charge more but investing is worth it. I am satisfied with the work that they did and that component has been performing good since then. Don't remember the cost I had to pay though.

If still problem with carb tunning , engine , you can search any good mechanic who is good in carb tunning , even if its other bikes.
I took my bike for a road-test at the service station, their mechanic was riding the bike (I was the pillion). He managed to get a mileage of 75kmpl+ ! I took the bike from him, just to check if he had somehow changed the tuning of the bike before the road test( Although I was observing what he was doing before the road test. I'm sure he didn't cheat me). I saw the rpms were set as they were earlier, the bike was giving good response in all the speed ranges.
After the road test, I got the fuel tank topped up and went for a ride on the popular Noida-Greater Noida expressway and tried to do things as ideally as possible (<50kmph and no brakes), but still got a mileage of 43kmpl!
Please tell me what to do next!

                Thanks.
And it is indeed a genuine honda accessory. Here's a picture which would want you to get one right away

                BTW, some sh** happened today.
The unicorn was parked on the road and due to heavy rains it got flooded and part of my engine was underwater for like 10 mins. the water was below the silencer assembly. The bike started and functioned normally and i rode back home. Do i need to check anything ? Or shouldn't bother about it ?

And i received my owners manual in Hindi ! Is it the same with everyone else ? i can't exchange it as it has my bike's chassis number on the free service coupons. Someone please provide me a link to the owners manual and the service manual.

75 KPl is impossiblefor 150's, difficult for 100 cc's under regular driving condition.how did you come to these figures , bottle checking is not real life checking . just tell mechanic to retune for efficiency and ask for riding tips . IF FE is your only concern ... change the bike to lesser cc's or one with good fuel average like pulsar , gs 150 , dazzler which have 50 + kpl

                  • Honda Unicorn Servicing

                    Hi Folks,

I currently own a Honda Unicorn. Its 2yrs old.

I am not at all happy with the Honda service center. Can you please suggest me a good mechanic in Bangalore.

I currently reside in Basavanagudi loacality. Anywhere near would be preferrable.

He had put a quantity of 100 ml, I made him burn the fuel present in the carburetor first and only then I let him plug the supply from the bottle.
Yes, I did mention he was riding at ideal conditions. The bike covered 7.7 kms (which means a mileage of about 80kmpl) even when some petrol was remaining in the bottle. I agree, it is not real life checking.
No, it is not that I am only concerned about the mileage. It is just that a bike which gave 55kmpl+ every time until two years back is now delivering just 35-40. This is really a sad thing for me. That's it. Ride quality is still brilliant *touchwood*
                      Anyway, thanks!

                      • As for the tubes you have mentioned

                        1) Drain tube for Batter water over flow
                        2) Carb Drain Tube.
                        3) 2 Tubes connected to the Tank. (heard it somewhere it is use for air flow)
                        4) One connected to the Air filter Box (Not sure of the use)

Not sure of the rest of the tubes.

And do not worry that the bike was in water. Mine fell over to the left side due to rain and was in water for almost 4 hours. Water covered almost till silencer. Not joking. Mom was unable to lift it. She called me and informed me when i was in office. Went home and took it, cleaned it with fresh water and bike started in first press of the starter. That's Honda.

Whoa, that sounds bad ! lucky that nothing went kaput. In my case, this was the first time that rain water got her and in such a way, otherwise she's parked under a covered parking.

Btw, her first service is coming up in the next 10 days.
Can anyone from mumbai let me know how to go about it ? Need to book an appointment ?I dont want to leave my bike with them whatsoever. Will stay there and get it done.

Use a saltpaper to completely remove the paint and make the surface even.

Wash it with clean water and dry it. Then Paint it with a Spray if possible.

You ll need some patience to paint with brush and hands. Takes some time to learn it.

I use the Blower end of the vacuum cleaner to paint. With all those extra fittings they offer, there is one which is used for spraying paints or whatever. It is similar to the spray paints that is offered in shops. Thanks to Eureka Forbes

I have not tried the Primer on the Bumpers before the paint. I have tried it only on my gates and doors. It looks more polished if a Primer is used before paint.
