Anyway this query was for my friend. Yesterday he changed oil to shell AX7. He got it changed in a local mechanic & asked the person to change oil filters too. But the mechanic said Unicorn doesn't have one.
Is that true
You guys never change oil filters during servicing or oil change??

Service experience

The first service for the bike was done today. She has run 350 kms. Cost me Rs. 243 for the engine oil, that's all. There were some squeaks from the handle as its a new bike, hadn't even complained about it, yet after a ride, the mechanic rectified that. Good experience.

Apart, a funny incident happened.
While preparing the job card, i specifically asked the guy (well dressed in formals and not just an ordinary guy) not to wash the bike as its waxed and its as clean as new. Here's the conversation.

Me: Don't wash her whatsoever happens, as she's waxed and i don't want swirl marks after you'll wipe her.
Him: Sir, i tell you, you shouldn't just apply any products like wax on a new bike, the paint will chip off or will fade, later after a year you can do what you want. (Taps on the tank with the ring in his finger).
Me: oo is it ? please don't tap on the tank with your ring again !

He quietly made the job card and didn't speak again !

I have no words to describe this guy, and he is supposedly the one to take down the problems and prepare a job card ! I'm sure they must be duping naive customers to go in for various things there itself !

Can somebody please tell me a good service center in BANGALORE... Im planning to buy a new unicorn.. plz help me out guys.

bought the book from here, ordered on 20th july, got it last week.. they never updated me about the shipping details, even after i mailed them twice, they didnt respond.. so not as reliable as flipkart, but its expensive at flipkart(145+30), i got it for 126..

its a very good book, things are neatly explained with pictures.. definitely a good buy..

I wont even go for the free service .

As far as precautions during running in go, the Unicorn manual merely asks that the user not redline the engine and avoid rapid acceleration.

Fuel Strainer Screen
Engine Oil Centrifugal Filter
Engine Oil Strainer Screen

I have attached the Maintenance Schedule of an CB Unicorn. I bet these idiots at the service center do not follow the guidelines of laid by the manufacturer. All they do is change oil, lube the chain with drained oil, the foot pegs and attend to your complaints if any. My Unicorn has completed 9500 Kilometers and i am sure at 6000 kms they haven't cleaned the Fuel Strainer Screen, cleaned the Engine Oil Centrifugal Filter at 750 kms, cleaned Engine Oil Strainer Screen at 750 and 6000 kms. When you ask them any of the above, they are like, its only to be changed once you replace the clutch.

What a bunch of idiots.

Even I have the same doubt. When asked for Oil Centrifugal filter, there is no answer. Even the local mechanics are not aware . Am also not sure of the stainer screens.

Mine completed 23000 Kms now. Going with no issues. Changed only Oil at every 2000 KM intervals, Spark Plug and Air Filter at 9000Kms and 18000 Kms and Fork Oil and Disk oil at 20000 Kms. Do not remember the exact KM change interval. Given the closest ones.

Nothing happens(feeling) if you do not follow running period being new bike atleast in 1-2 years of possession , only after some repectable kms on odo bike tends to show aging very rapidly like low FE, acceleration etc. company or SC people do not bother as after warranty its customer who has to pay fo expensive components , remember companies have good margins on replacing parts and services than selling new ones after warranty.
They should mention rpm range with kms in between free services.

They are not idiots , they are oversmart and tend to act like experts and honda products to be too robust, servicing for them means oil change and washing only , SC has not expanded to accomodate growing no of vehicles and to cater all , they just wash vehicles in line ( 15 vehicles at a time by one person of all ranges). its we customer suffer after a period to pay heavy bills for the parts exorbitly priced.

Saw a cheaper deal in HomeShop18, but out of stock at this point.
