i rly pity u bro, i think thr's srs prob wid ur bike. ur complaints are totally against uni's character or u may be over feeling things as dis is ur first bike
if any of ur frnz r having pulsar jus take it for a ride, den ride a uni n feel d difference. if u feel pulsar is smoother den ur bike is not an uni at all

thr shudn't be much of a problem wid new bikes but ur bike is real danger!
clutch plate worn out at 3000kms no way it can happen to normal bike

Any clue what's causing this??Or shud i switch to another brand of oil??Plz recommend.

A small incident of 'fall' or accident can induce hellish vibes into fairing, I think companies should produce models of round/simple headlight as there are people don't care about 'looks'....it will also bring down bike's price considerably, the vibes in the front will be NIL as well.

FYI, Vibes on my Achiever (round headlight) can only be compared with an electric scooter

        • I bought a OLD one(@18000km on meter), Now it's 27K Km. Total cost for maintenance would be less < 5k in those two years(that too because of the battery). Still strong, Pulls very well at slightly higher RPM. Though I get the milege ~37 -40KMPL. But I guess my riding style is like that.

The current batch of honda engine oils are manufactured by tide water company, which i felt is tad better than ones manufactured by idemitsu.
i too have converted my headlight to round one

                • Hi everyone !
I've bought a new unicorn and it has clocked around 6.5k kms.I drive arnd 110-120kms daily since my college is a bit far away frm the place wr i live.I'm satisfied wid the bike all-together coz i was using a pulsar before and i've bought this bike because its known for its reliability and since i'm going through deserted places daily wr u wont find any workshops or good mechanics.
Currently i'm facing several issues wid my bike and i'm hoping for some valuable information

1.A couple of days back,i was driving back frm my college and after riding for about 40kms the bike stopped working.Electric starter was not working and the kicker lost its compression generously.I had to push my bike and luckily there was a workshop near by.The mechanic told me that the bike had lost its compression and then he removed the spark plug, did something and the bike started but smoke was coming from the exaust similar to a 2-stroke bike.He said that some valve was burned out and this usually happens if you are ripping the bike hard. But the fact is that i've never taken my bike above 80kmph since the day i bought and i drive at 60's consistently.
So will i get the repair works done under warranty and do they have to open the engine in-order to solve the problem?

2.The handle feels so tight towards the right side and it feels like wobling wen taking a sharp right turn.I found my right fork seal broken and it was replaced during the 3rd free service. In normal driving the entire front assembly feels heavier and tighter when compared to other unicorns.I've got this problem from day one nd i've made complaints during service section. The problem still persist.

3.There is a tinnish sound coming from the engine similar to the engine knocking sound even at 4 RPM.The honda people have replaced the spark plug during my 3rd free service and they have charged for it and still i'm not happy wid my bike.

4.A jelly like substance is leaking through the rear tire nozzle and by stock the tires were Dunlop mystery in front and dunlop geocruiser in rear.

It seems that unicorn is suffering from this problem.I too had such problem.Apart from this i have heard several similar cases.Your mechanic must have opened the plug and instilled some oil into the cylinder and used the kicker for sometime.
Most probably the valve got jammed either due to excess carbon deposit or lubrication failure.Better get you bike checked at the authorized svc.
Also check your oil levels every alternate day.I had to replace my block piston cause my bike started consuming oil(which was the reason for the carbon deposit).Which engine oil are you using?
Next time when you encounter the same problem, allow the engine to cool for sometime and then push start the bike in second gear.

                    • i very similar problem i faced last night ..

when i started the bike .. it sounded like it losing all its compression and kick was much less hard but resistive enough .. and valves were making phat phat sound and engine was firing but sounding just like when we turn off ignition of running bike.. bike was only starting in chock ... there was a huge krrrrr noise coming ..

i immediately chked engine oil and found it low then i top upped it but problem was still there.

hmmm... even before we have not come to terms to accept velocirapror's bike problem as a fact here is another... and much more early in comparison. Along with getting the work done on your bike, write to Honda without fail and without delay.

2.Fork Cone Set. Get that checked. Put bike on center stand, make the rear tyre touch ground. now, does the handle bar move from left to right and vice versa freely?

                        3. Can be tappets sound and if the valve is bent that definitely is a cause.

                        4. could it be the gel from the tuff-up tube? Get the SC guys to open up the tyre & tube and check it.

Take photo's of that situation. Or even video. Keep them for record.

Email the same content as our post along with your bike's engine & chassis number to Honda immediately.

                        All the best.

                        • So i guess now uni is losing its bullet proof reliability or robustness etc .
Guess the first n 2nd gen were the best .
Heard after 2nd i.e., from 3rd or 4th onwards some minors changes wre made to the engine for more smoothness which did some damage .
Not sure how reliable this source is , just thought of sharing with you all .

There is a 1st gen uni near my place . Engine is still the same , really surprises me .
On person on the thread mentioned that a unicorn was still doing the job even near 98k kms . Dont know if was still running on std bore .

Does anyone have some inside technical information ? .
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

Mailing to Honda is like teaching mechanics to a dog.Its of no use.I personally called HMSi thanks to a mechanic friend of mine who gave me the number.
@azote-next time when you take your bike to the svc,get in touch with the service manager.

                              LOL )
But they did respond to many people and got the SC guys to attend and resolve the issues. Is it that the bigger the problem the higher the ignorance factor?

@azote - your bike should very much be under warranty. Honda guys SHOULD set it right.

and regarding problem , my problem was just a loose carb connection at intake port hence all that phat phat sound .. and there is NO valves etc are burnt , they are nice and working perfectly .

so guys with similar problem may look for carb pipe at intake port and tighten it to sort it out.
