The 1st problem was the gear shift pedal, this has no back pedal support. Fortunately one of my relative who owns one of this told me that he has already changed this pedal, which is also available in Showroom of Honda. so yesterday i changed this one which costs me Rs.150/-. I wounder If Both front & pedal are available, why Honda is supplying the vehicle with only front pedal.I have not measured the Fuel efficiency. What is the speed limit for the first 1000 km or so?

ipsa: The heel+toe shifter was on all honda unicorns prior to the latest version. So they sell both.

During your initial 1000kms, its not the speed, but the rpm that should be in control. keep it as low as possible, perhaps keep 4K as the upper limit on the rpm. Don't rev the engine higher than that. speed of the bike is not of concern here.

Welcome to the club of Wing riders .

Well to answer your question as on why Honda is selling a bike with Toe shifter alone : Its just style to be pressie , That's what they told me and it looks sporty as well . So there you go . Have a safe ride and be healthy and happy .All the best with your new venture .

There is a possibility that the Uni seat can be modified to look like the hunk's. But a direct fitment don't think so .

Oh that explains the glow on the seat . Well as you where talking about a maniac scratching your bike , how about this story . One friend of mine got a new Hundai Verna brown color and some kids tried drawing on it . Now if you see you could see curly white lines on a brown metallic car . Nothing could be done the scratches are so deep that even a rubb & polish wont help . He has to get it painted all over again . So can you imagin the hight os maniacs in india

Since you are from Mumbai , as i understand you people have nice roads out there . Try soft it should give more smoothness while you drive in city . But rough roads you will feel a little jerk at times with soft settings on

Thanks for the prompt reply...am afraid tht soft will affect the handling..will it? and my 2nd question please explain wht these 3 settings (soft-medium-hard) imply in terms of handling?

Being in soft setting means that the spring compression is smooth , which in no way effects the handling of the bike & again depends on the road you ride .

Well in one word ... "Stiffness" . Depending on the road you drive .

                      Good smooth road - Soft

Lot of Potholes and good combined - Medium

No roads , Rocky - Hard

Regarding the control while riding , these settings are tested and found to be the best .

                          • Gear Problem

I am having a July 2008 Unicorn Black. The average I get is around 50 kmph.
                            I am facing two problems.

                            1) Oil seems to leak from head part of the engine. It spreads in the engine fins. What could be the cause?

                            2) During down shifts, I have to release my clutch each time. Say, if I need to change from 5-3, I first need to change from 5-4 and release clutch. The 4th gear engages with a click sound. Then again I need to change from 4-3 and release clutch!!!

Down shifting is not happening smoothly. I am using Honda engine oil
The bike has done 4500 kms
                            Any solutions!!!

I am planning to change the oil to Valvoline 4T Premium! Suggestions welcome.

Sad to hear your problems ,

Problem 1 : Oil leak - Have you checked the oil seal , if not since your bike is still under warranty take it to the service center as early as possible and get it fixed .

Problem 2 : Down shifting - Honestly bro i am also facing the same problem as well . Cannot down shift quickly . I assume the gears are designed that way and the click sound can be avoided with the speed with which we change the gear . Means if we down shift with a small delay i don't hear the click , But that's only in rare cases . One thing you can check though , if the chain is tight or not .

Changing the engine Oil is not advisable since you are in the warranty period . Then depends on the rappo you have with the service people .

                                .
                                1) Yes get the oil seal checked asap.

                                2) You cannot downshift very fast on uni, has to be 2 sec gap between each gear and always engage clutch while downshifting and blip the throttle to match engine speed, it'll help ur engine last longer and become smoother.

3)Yes the Honda Svc ppl are very particular about using "Honda" Oil, use it religiously till warranty, than go for Castrol power 1, u'll be amazed by the difference.
