Started engine work on my uni today, run 47k on odo. I was expecting the cost to come up to 8k including new bore kit but I bought parts worth 9k without bore kit itself so going for a rebore. I guess it will come up to 12k totally, I just hope my money spent is worth it and the mech doesn't steal any parts.

            valves, 350
            rocker, ---
            clutch plates, 800
            clutch metal plates, 150
            clutch hub, what is this?
clutch bell, why a new one? They just replace the rubbers in the bell.
            fork oil seals, 200
            camshaft, why?
            clutch cable, 100
            brake clutch lever, 200
            oil filter, what is this?
            air filter, 180
            primary gear Don't know

            neutral Patti, Don't know
            engine packing, 200
            bore packing.

I am assuming the prices. I am also thinking to rebuild my 2005 72K Unicorn. It needs a new Crank, Connecting Rod, New bore cylinder. Thank you
Why does your Unicorn need this much of parts at 47K?

The cost is a bit more than ur estimate, I'll post exact prices soon. Well even I didn't understand why I needed a new camshaft but my mech says there's slight play better to replace now so I bought a new one, my clutch was messed up so all those parts were needed. Got the rebore and valve job done today, the result seems satisfactory, there is hardly any gap between piston and bore without rings so it should be fine I guess, need experts advice on this.

Managed to get a few blurry pics from my lame phone before battery died. :banghead:
              This is the old piston

The new one in bore without rings after rebore

Recently I've changed the piston rings in my Unicorn. The MRP on the pack was something like Rs.350+ but I got them for Rs.230. When I asked for the price of Piston the shopkeeper said Rs.540. Valve lapping costs Rs.120 + mandatory replacement of seals (Rs.80) + valve guides if they are damaged. Valves cost some Rs.150 each. Bore cutting costs Rs.150.
Sometimes mechanics compel us to buy lots of spares. bhayya "xyz automobiles shop" mein milega vaha khareedlo bahut genuine hai.. they get commission from that xyz shop.
Please post exact prices when you are free..

Nope, I bought only genuine spares from my choice of ASC, that's why it costed so much, if I had bought from local spare shop it would cost much lesser. Yup sure will post exact price soon

Lol I don't know why, if I had run the bike from day one I would've maintained it much better, I bought it used at 33k on odo and I guess the original owner rode it at high gear at low speed with engine knocking which caused engine wear so soon.

                            • Help with CB Unicorn Rear Bumps Problem

                              Hello Guys,
I am getting very sharp bumps from the rear side of my bike, even when the bike runs over a very small pot hole or small uneven surface.
Feels like there is no shock absorber at all or I am running on Steel Wheels. Took to 2 local Garage but none could solve problem. Everything looks fine from outside
but still feel very sharp bumps. Its very much irritating as I have to ride almost 60km per day on mostly village roads.
I would really appreciate your help to find the problem and get the solution.

Set the suspension to soft and see if it helps. How old is the bike?
