Re: update
According to this diagram unicorn doesn't require coil rewinding, but that is not the case(http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...tml#post363748). Could you elaborate your reply?Originally posted by sandeepcf View PostInfer from the following image

Re: update
hi unicorn owners/fans,greetings
i have almost zeroed in on unicorn as a new buy with leh trip in mind,kindly pls try to solve few of my quieries and apprehensions,i would be greatful;
1-want to replace stock rear tyre, any suggestion keeping leh in mind coming august?preffered tubeless,or else tuff up tube.Can/Should one add slime in tuff up tube?
2-kindly comment on 12v-7ah battery.heard its not maintainace free, what does that mean?does it need charging at time of buy?does it spill acid out frequently?
3-is maintainace of unicorn costly compared to other 150cc bikes?
4-is there any chance unicorn being discontinued in a yr or two, resulting in scarcity of spares then?my friends with dazzler are having tough time sourcing dazzler parts, specially plastics
4-can anyone comment on suspension set up of unicorn in comparison to trigger?at 40 yrs i want extra comfort and painfree back
would be greatful if u guys spare some time to sort me out.

Re: update
Hello, welcome to the wing riders :-) 1) the current unicorns stock rear Tyre is terrible, replace it with an on/off road dual purpose Tyre like the mrf meteor. The front Tyre us good enough.Originally posted by polly View Posthi unicorn owners/fans,greetings

2)MF just means you don't need to refill distilled water from time to time
3) maintenance is very cheap, mine is 45k km old and mostly I just have to change oil at 2000km intervals, nothing more.
4) no clue on discontinuation, but unlike the Dazzler the uni has been in the market for a very long time and has been Honda's best seller even till date, so I don't think they would discontinue it anytime soon
5) haven't tried the trigger but both bikes share the same mono suspension so the difference shouldn't be much, for your comfort you can set the suspension to soft and add a soft seat cover.
P.S- If you're a tourer, I suggest you check out the hero karizma as well.

thnxs sinnerz2000,for your prompt reply.
a few more quieries-
between sirac street, meteor, vertigo sport which is better dual purpose tyre?heard sirac is nothing but TVS,
any good tubeless setup for both tyres?
out here tyre waala is claiming to use tubetype sirac street as tubeless,is it a common practice? Also is it SAFE?
thnxs dear for ur earlier feedback.

Re: update
Sirac is now manufactured by tvs and has got many bad reviews, the Mrf meteor+ a tuff up tube would be very difficult to puncture. I'm not sure that using a tube Tyre as tubeless would be a good idea.Originally posted by polly View Postthnxs sinnerz2000,for your prompt reply.

Re: update
My pictures explains the difference between the Two RR's only. Sorry if my diagram confused you.Originally posted by ranechinmay View PostAccording to this diagram unicorn doesn't require coil rewinding, but that is not the case(http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...tml#post363748). Coil Rewinding is required if you want more current from your stator. In the post you mentioned, coil is rewinded with 19g wire and therefore produces more current.
My Unicorn is winded with 19g wire and it produces 70 watts at just above 3500 RPM, so I wouldn't be worried that my battery gets discharged if I use 55/60w headlamp in slow speeds. If you use stock coil, say 21g, it might produce the same 70watts at 5000 RPM (say) and your battery would be discharged if you use the same 55/60w bulb at slow speeds.
If you want to convert your Unicorn to FULL DC, I will give you step by step instructions.

Re: update
Thanks for the info. I was searching for step by step guide (I was totally confused reading the thread I mentioned as I don't have any electrical knowledge background). It would be helpful if you could help with A/C to D/C conversion.Originally posted by sandeepcf View PostMy pictures explains the difference between the Two RR's only. Re: update
Its a bit stiff than what you would probably expect. If you weight 80 kgs and above or are riding with a pillion, it works perfectly. If you find it stiff, use the 5 step pre-load and soften it a notch.Originally posted by polly View Postone honest reply from all unicorn owners please-

Need help with my Unicorn.
Hi All,
My Unicorn is 2.5 years old and completed 26.5K KMs, I do have 2 problems with my Unicorn.
1. Hearing some thak thak noise from chain guard and my mechanic is suggesting to change the Chain sprocket.
2. Fork is always gets loose with 2 weeks of adjustment from day 1. now my mechanic is suggesting to replace the Balls in fork.
3. Till now i never opened my carburetor, does it really need a clean up ? i feel some power loss compare to previous.
Please advise me, whether changing sprocket & Fork balls in 26K is valid ?
Thanks

Re: Need help with my Unicorn.
The sprocket generally lasts 20-25k km depending on usage so its normal to change it now, the same goes for the coneset (ball bearings) also called steering racer. You don't need to really open up the entire Carb, but yea it definately does need a cleanup if you haven't cleaned it so far, clean the Carb once every 4000k-6000k km.Originally posted by rajabca View PostHi All,
