My bike is 3 years old with 23000 km . Had tried with full soft and even hard setting. Full soft makes the ride bouncy but bumps continue. Tightening the chain( very tight ) helps for very short time.

Check if the rear wheel cush-drive is ok . Those are the rubber blocks inside the rear wheel . Never tighten the chain like that , ever - problem shall aggravate . Maintain chain lubricated , with an inch of up-down slack at the middle of the bottom run . Wheel rim , tyres and tyre pressure is ok ?

Swing arm the only problem you could face is worn out bushes or bent swingarm but both these issues wouldn't cause a bumpy ride, just a wobbly rear tyre

What is the condition of the tires and what tire pressure do you maintain ?
Never set the chain very tight, it needs to have around 1-2inch slack - pls get it set correctly and ensure the notches on either side of the swing arm are at the same position after adjusting the chain.
I think there may be a rubber bush at the mono-shock mounting , try replacing that.

Guys. I own a 2008 Unicorn and it has run close to 21 K. Its front suspension feels dampened on most of the conditions and even on pliant roads, i could feel the slightest undulations on the handle bars. I feel like the front suspension works only when i pass on big potholes. This issue basically started when i replaced the oil seal a month ago from a local shop. Though the service guy did a nice job on replacing the oil seals with Honda specified oil quantity (165 ml), i believe he has installed the fork spring wrongly (wider Diameter of tapered spring is now at the bottom in both the forks). Do you guys think this problem can be resolved if i re-install the springs upside down? I have read the same in many of the DIY postings.

Also, i have used Motul 20W fork oil during oil change. The dampened effect could be because of this relatively heavy oil? I don't know the grade recommended by Honda for unicorn.

Honda oem fork oil is 10w. Since you have used 20w oil 155-160 ml is only requird. A little variation in oil quantity will result in hard or soft shocks.

Thanks for the reply. With 20W oil, will i get the same effectiveness as that of original grade if i maintain the oil level between 155-160 ml?

On the other hand if i need to go with 10W oil, is it simple to replace the fork oil alone? I am usually a DIY guy and would be great if you / some one could tell me the oil change procedure. I went to shop last time since i had to replace fork seals as well.

Yes. Damping will be good with 155 to 160 ml. There is a fork oil change diy in the splendor thread. You can refer it. But it requires some special tools i think...

                          • Honda Unicorn Engine Oil Problem

                            Hi Guys,

I have purchased new Honda Unicorn few months back. And have completed first service.

I usually ride 90kms a day. I somehow feel that the present Honda Engine oil giving by Honda Service center is not that effective for my usuage.
The engine has started to make noise(like a running water pump-if you can imagine). I doubt if it is a problem from Engine Oil.

One of my pal said change the engine oil to Honda Trottle oil as changing oil with different brand will void my engine warranty.
But I have seen bad reviews for Unicorn and Honda Trottle Engine oil combination in the net.

Headlight is also very poor. Have heard headlight of Honda Unicorn comes with low light intensity.

Request you all to suggest me a solution to my engine problem and headlight alternative.

Also need some tips for good maintenance (like how often should I change Engine oil, clutch plates, chain & chain sprocket etc..)

                            Thanks in advance

                            Cheers Happy Riding

Need advice on Honda CB Unicorn, 2012 model

                              1. Change of engine oil to a nonhonda brand.
                              2. Change of stock headlight to something practical for highway night driving and the new setup must have both the provision of High beam and low beam.

PS: Have already converted to dc setup. Now the light doesnt dim when clutch is pressed.

                                1. Mobil Delvac 1300 super - Yes it is a diesel engine oil. I have been using this for the past 15000 kms. So are my friends with FAZER, 200NS.
                                2. Philips premium 55/60. Use an aux lamp on crash guard for highways.
