Change your clutch platesOriginally posted by ajtheghost View PostGuys facing a clutch issue or alleast I think.
The gear shifting has become very noisy. Also getting a neutral between 4th and 5th gear. Sometimes riding on the fifth gear the gear will slip to neutral or the 4th.
What could be the problem.

Re: hi friends waiting for a reply
It generally takes about 40k km for the clutch plates to go bad. I have no clue why yours has worn out so soon. Better have it checked at a good local mech, the svc will loot you if you go for any clutch or engine related issues, but be sure to get the work done in front of you and buy the required parts yourself from the svc.Originally posted by ajtheghost View PostThanks for the prompt reply.
Any idea of the cost? Any other things to check?
Got the bike in oct 2012 and have completed 11k kms

Re: Honda Unicorn
go to a local shop and never opt for a svc they would always over charge you along with those parts that didn't even need to be changed.Originally posted by ajtheghost View PostThanks for the prompt reply.

Jerkyness after service
Hello everyone
I bought my Unicorn in Dec 2012 and have ridden it for 13,000 Kms thus far. Yesterday I had given it off for service at the showroom where I bought the vehicle and had asked them to tighten the chain and make the idling 1.2.
Upon receiving the vehicle, I found that the vehicle was jerking a lot and it turned off after running for a couple of kilometers. They responded to my call and their mechanic who arrived on site made some adjustments to the air inlet and got the bike running again. Now, I find the ride to be extremely jerky and it has no pick up whatsoever. Should I increase the idling, say to 1.8 or 2 ?
regards

Re: Jerkyness after service
Increasing or decreasing the idle rpm wont affect pick up, if he had adjusted the carb screw then im pretty sure he messed it up, go to a reputed mech and have the carb tuned correctly. And set idle to 1.3 by urself, you can turn the big screw to the right side of the bike yourself by hand.Originally posted by wandererpavi View PostHello everyone

Looks like the water wash procedure at ASC has had an impact. Maybe water/cutting oil is left out on electrical points like CDI or spark plug. Have it blown with compressed air and check again. BTW 1.8K or 2k idle rpm is wrong. The ideal rpm could be 900rpm to 1100rpm with a warm engine. Never set idle rpm on old engine.
BTW are you still facing the issue?Last edited by petrolhead_chn; 02-13-2014, 06:43 AM.My DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial
Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

update
Quick update: Fed up with poor service from ASC I went to Bikerzone in Shivajinagar, Pune. The mechanic said that gear shifting will become smooth after servicing. Had fork alignment issue as well and got it sorted and also got carb tuned . Bike feels smooth now , much smooth than ASC servicing.
Their work is good but expensive as the bill came to Rs900
with oil change.

Re: update
Thats not expensive at all for the work done, if you consider oil at rs 250 and a 300rs general service fee then the 350rs for fork alignment is not a bad price. Next service onwards it wouldnt cost you above 500 bucks including oil.Originally posted by ajtheghost View PostQuick update: Fed up with poor service from ASC I went to Bikerzone in Shivajinagar, Pune. Re: update
Unicorn has a 12V-7Ah battery, while CBR250R has 12V-6Ah one. But how does CBR support a 55/60W headlamp, while coil rewinding is required for unicorn for same setupLast edited by ranechinmay; 02-14-2014, 12:35 AM.

Re: hi friends waiting for a reply
Guys, I thinking about changing my tyres. Though the stock Zapper Y have some thread left them, they offer no grip at all and it has become worse over time. It did 31k and is over 4yrs old. I'm looking at Michelin Sirac Street or Zapper Q. Any other suggestions? How about putting 110section tyres?tђє รเlєภt รt๏г๓

I am, using Zapper Q 100/90
Please do not go for zapper Q it is very bad tyre, skids like hell in wet & on gravel.
Please buy OEM recommended Zapper Y 100/90 only it is the best one.
Do not go for 110 section it will kill your engine.
