Brat... the front discs got jammed when i was riding and took it to them since it was near by.. they opened the assembly and found that the pistons were stuck due to air... they told they need a day to clean and do the bleeding to get it fixed.. after 2 days, they couldnt do it and gave me the bike with no fornt brakes.. when i asked why they couldnt fix it, the answer was we could only do 40% bleeding and it was taking time and asked me to check with my mechanic.. i was like, it's better i fix it ... so i am doing the work now...Originally posted by Brat View PostI know of a couple of buddies who commute on Busa. Clearly, the drool factor is far much more higher on it compared to the GT, they do not appear to have any niggles with parking whatsoever. I use the 650 for commuting on a daily basis.
Since i have not yet brought my smaller bikes to bangalore, the GT is used for buying vegetables, shopping, running errands, etc as well
Its not always that you get to have a privileged parking spot.
Most of the places i've been to have been more than happy to accommodate me in the car park. Else, i just leave it outside in the open. Many times i've noticed some of the folks giving it the usual inspection, sitting on it, etc. I dont try to get rid of them, i just tell them to be careful not to remove the stand and not to scratch it. They seem to much appreciate the gesture. Of course, this is followed by a battery of question about mileage.
We may love and cherish it like a baby but end of the day, its going to get scratched or downed at some point of time, you can never be too careful - thinking about this only eats away your peace of mind.
If you are really worried about your ride being tampered with in open parking spots by curious onlookers, install Xena on it and watch what happens.
About the wrist pain, I had complained about it to Men_in_Jean when i had initially got the bike, he told me that it will disappear with time - true to his words, the wrist pain is completely absent now after clocking a decent amount of kms on it. One other xbhpian (Ananth) told me to do a cross country trip to get used to the saddle and wrist pain. After doing some long tours on it, these symptoms have completely vanished. You should try it too, it helps one understand the bike more completely.
The head mech in Bangalore SVC has not been available for the past couple of days. There are already a couple of GT's there awaiting service. I dont want anyone else to look into the fuel injection issue. So, i didn't think it'd be wise to hurry it up and make any available mech look into my GT, i'd rather wait for the expert and take his opinion on the diagnosis, given that i dont know jack s#!t about FI units anyway, so i have to take his word for it. Will update the outcome as soon as i get it fixed.
Edit:
Vijith - May we know exactly what was the brake issue the 250 has been facing?
Hey Patty,Originally posted by patty_86 View PostServicing GT at Bangalore is not that great.. they are not trained well. Every time when i had problem with my GT I had to wait till the mechanic comes from Pune and fix it. That is one bad thing. They are very good at asking for the problem and nodding their head that's all.
you are spot on.. they nod atthe issue but cant fix it.. just some young guys who knows basic of bikes but for something like GT650, you need some good pro's to fix it... really disappointed...

i think at least they are doing the right thing in some way .... they are waiting for main mech to come and fix rather asking some unexperienced mech to fiddle with bike and ruin it .... no matter which bike it better to wait couple of days then get ruined bikeOriginally posted by patty_86 View PostServicing GT at Bangalore is not that great.. they are not trained well. Nagoo.. waiting for a mech to come all the way from Pune to fix a bike is not a solution.. when we have a bike like 650 and S7, they need to hire professional here itself.. the guys in the SC are young chaps who would have just finished their college... i could make it out when they were opening up the brake in front of me... Garware should have made these arrangements when they know that their bikes will be sold and expect good response from the buyers.Originally posted by nagoo View Posti think at least they are doing the right thing in some way .... they are waiting for main mech to come and fix rather asking some unexperienced mech to fiddle with bike and ruin it .... no matter which bike it better to wait couple of days then get ruined bike

it could be ... guess .. it will take some time for them to adopt ... same happened with Yamaha when they launch R15 .. i have personal experience on that...Originally posted by vijith.unnithan View PostNagoo.. waiting for a mech to come all the way from Pune to fix a bike is not a solution.. when we have a bike like 650 and S7, they need to hire professional here itself.. the guys in the SC are young chaps who would have just finished their college... i could make it out when they were opening up the brake in front of me... its really hard to make the GT parked at one place waiting for the mechanic to come from Pune and check what the issue is...Originally posted by nagoo View Posti think at least they are doing the right thing in some way .... they are waiting for main mech to come and fix rather asking some unexperienced mech to fiddle with bike and ruin it .... no matter which bike it better to wait couple of days then get ruined bike

Perfect observation, you stole my words. They are young 19-20 year chaps here who just know how to change oil and oil filter.Originally posted by vijith.unnithan View PostThe guys in the SC are young chaps who would have just finished their college... i could make it out when they were opening up the brake in front of me... I dont even think Garware has made the pain to train mechanics at the individual level like Bajaj where specific people from each pbk underwent the training for Ninja250R and now 650R. Garware have left it to the dealer to decide which mechanics they want to employ and they can test their skills on customer bikes.
They need to handle 650 customers well, what will happen when they sell their 250's.

I carry the helmet with me, didn't want to spoil the look of the GT by putting a helmet lock on it.Originally posted by hss View Postwhere do you put the helmet when in, say, a shopping mall? Do you take the helmet with you or do you lock it somewhere on the bike. Is there a helmet lock on the bike?
Its surprising to hear that they gave an unfixed bike back to you and told you to get in touch with your mechanic to have it fixed. You can get in touch with the regional manager if this was their answer to you?Originally posted by vijith.unnithan View PostBrat... the front discs got jammed when i was riding and took it to them since it was near by.. they opened the assembly and found that the pistons were stuck due to air... they told they need a day to clean and do the bleeding to get it fixed.. after 2 days, they couldnt do it and gave me the bike with no fornt brakes.. when i asked why they couldnt fix it, the answer was we could only do 40% bleeding and it was taking time and asked me to check with my mechanic.. i was like, it's better i fix it ... so i am doing the work now...______________________________________

Bike due for first service
I will be taking the bike for first service this weekend. Finally it is near 1K mark :-). Did not get enough opportunity to ride it since it has come home. was out of town for more than a month in between.
But now as my car is out of action for a month, after an accident while driving back from Hyderabad last saturday, I guess, I will be riding the GT more than I did in last 2 months.
I am planning to stick to the oil that Garware guys recommend for the first service. anything major that I need to take care of during the first service ? had no problems as such with the bike so far otherwise.
Cheers

Advise needed
I dont know if this is the right forum, but here's my case -
I currently ride a Yamaha R15, I've had it for 3 yrs now.
I'm now looking for something more powerful. I was really excited about the 250s (Ninja and CBR) but honestly, they've both been disappointing for diff reasons. Also, I feel 250 isnt enough of a jump, hence a 600 being ideal.
Again, as with the Ninja 250, the 650 inspite of a relatively affordable price, it just doesnt do it for me, only looks wise, but ive heard that its a beauty to ride.
Next came the Hyosung GT650R, I checked it out in the showroom in gurgaon a couple of months ago, n I thought it was decent (only cause I was fantasising about the Yam R6 and Honda CBR600RR)
I test drove this beast day before ('beast' since it looks n feels bigger than a 600) in lajpat nagar (Ive heard a lot of positives)
The pick up blew me away.
And even though, my preference still is the R6 and the CBR600, i'm aware that its a pain either importing it myself or buying it off someone.
So the easy way out is either the Ninja 650 or the GT650R.
I wont get a test drive of the Ninja till dec since they're overbooked n all.
As for the GT650R, I'm really impressed with the bike, thanks to the price (assuming that if n when the Japs enter the market, their 600s will be priced much higher)
Also the service and professionalism (of the lajpat nagar showroom)
But after thoroughly going through the thread and reading up on owners' experiences, the bike seems to have a lot of problems n niggles, like the vibes (seems 2 much even for a v twin), the hard gear shifts etc
Guys, my knowledge is embarrassingly limited when it comes to a future purchase of a 600cc bike..
Im sorry for the lengthy post, but I needed to get my story straight
Please advise, any information is appreciated

Hey bro..there is no recommendation by Garware Motors, you can purchase any engine oil brand of your choice.Originally posted by mittal_v2002 View PostI am planning to stick to the oil that Garware guys recommend for the first service. anything major that I need to take care of during the first service ? had no problems as such with the bike so far otherwise.

Hi bro.Every bike has it's pro's and con's.Yes,the GT engine is not that smooth and there are a bit of vibes present at higher revs. The bike goes super fast, you will be easily doing speeds of 150kmph.It gives a fantastic mileage of 22kmpl even while doing triple digit speeds on open highways. It looks like a proper Superbike too.Originally posted by joyistheworld View PostPlease advise, any information is appreciated
Don't know bro.You will need to speak to the showroom dealer directly.Originally posted by vinbex View Postis there a test drive available for the gt650 in chennai showroom???
