BTW, I figured you were going to go for the EBC's
    Brat,
Where are you getting the EBC's from? Any online store? My rear brake pads would also need a change in next 1000 thousand kms so might as well go in for EBC's as the stock ones now cost 2500 + 500 labour (as per men in jean's post), better to go for the aftermarket ones.

Would normal mechanic be able to replace the rear disc pads for me or i shouldnt take the risk?

    The split-up:
    Engine Oil: 3860.26
    Coolant: 100
    Chain Lubricant: 200
    Pad set 1: 2561.37
    Oil Filter: 578.24
    Total spares: 7299.87
    VAT 14.5%: 1058.48
    Labour: 2100
    Service tax 10.3%: 216.3
    Grand total: 10,675.00
Brother things dont seem right here, even engine oil is charged excessively. 3 litres is used for service and even top of the line Motul fully synthetic only costs 3000 for the change.

Going for 2nd service tomorrow and asked my SVC for estimate, they have told me that it will cost 5000-5500 max.

Just be stern with them next time and ask for estimates beforehand.

@Brat: Yes please don't go with OEM pad change. Not worth for the price.
Umm.. I dont know if they overcharge, but the prices mentioned by Chennai SVC has always been a bit on the higher side compared to others.
My 3rd service is due in another 1500 kms or 20 days. I'll provide them the FS oil since i will be switching to 300v and get them the aftermarket brake pads and steel-braided lines for installation as well.

Couple of my non-xbhp friends have recently upgraded their zx-6r and Gixxer to EBC pads. One of them went for Galfer lines with teflon inner hoses while the other has HEL lines. Their feedback has been really good, they had ordered it online.
I am trying to figure out the part# for the 2011 EFI GT and will be ordering for it to ship before my next service cycle. Unless i find something at PRS with a reasonable price.

I suggest you let the SVC folks install it for you, the aftermarket pads are 1mm thicker than the OEM and they will create noise/fricton if not seated properly, leading to brake rub - Its as good as riding around with the right foot sleeping on the brake lever. For this reason, i would avoid the normal mech (Unless, of course he's done this already to other SBK's).

Surprising that the showroom didn't let you take the display bike for a spin,
Once you estabilish yourself as a serious potential buyer, there should be no form of hassle in the test ride.

Err..Do you ride with the chennai xbhp group? There should be an occasional GT in there, a very friendly bunch and i dont think they'd mind offering you a short ride once they get to know that you're a cautious rider.

Spot on.. Tried rear brake skreetching from 120kmph and the bike was rock solid straight.. So it was clear that low air was the issue. I filled nitrogen almost 1 and half months and forgot to check air. Not sure whether any puncture is there but the issue was due to less than required air. Note for all you guys..
i filled nitrogen too, 32 front 35 rear, do u notice any major difference? in terms of handling, grip, mileage?

              • ^ I normally fill 33psi front and 36psi rear with nitrogen.. Nitrogen or normal air hasn't shown me any difference in handling as such. with correct amount of pressure the handling has no issues, Its Rock solid at any speeds that I have tried.
