Time to throw in my short ownership review ... 6 weeks and 2300 kms later

I have ridden it in pretty much all sorts of roads and conditions, and the bike has held up well . Having said that , it's not easy in stop-and-go traffic when the engine heat becomes a bit uncomfortable . On top of that the clutch is quite heavy . Some of you dudes are gonna get the forearm workout of your life

The first servicing costs came to just Rs.1500 /- (they said they replaced the oil filter for free) . On a few topics :-

VIBES : Yeah , it does vibrate a lot especially above 6k rpm . But i like it in a strange way . Feels like you are sitting on top of a battle tank

MILEAGE: 18 kmpl with 80% highway and 20% city riding

LOOKS : Kind of an obvious thing to say but it's a very good looking bike ! The bike looks the most eyecatching in solid red . I think it is the most classy in white but it will be hard to maintain the spotless look especially in this rainy season .

    PROBLEMS FACED SO FAR :
    1) At around 200 kms i started hearing some noise from the console everytime i went over bumps on the road . They fixed it in the first servicing (something was loose in the headlight unit) .
    2) At 1800 kms the horn stopped working . Quickly Replaced it under warranty .

EXHAUST NOTE : It has a loud roaring sound ! (typical vtwin . Don't expect an I4). I didn't like it initially but slowly slowly started loving it .

SO WHAT I FEEL NOW : In short , I LOVE IT ! Get a tingle of excitement everytime i sit on it and put the ignition on For a decade i have been dreaming of a sports bike . My room would be covered in posters of them and i always wondered ki "mera chance kab aayega" . So now i feel like i'm finally living my dream (feels doubly good when it comes from many years of your hard work) . To those of you who do a lot of long distance touring should give the ninja 650r serious thought , but for people like me who prefer short bursts of speed should give the GT650R a shot.

WHAT'S NEXT: I think it will be long time before i grow out of this bike but when i do it's gonna be a Ducati 848 (hottie!)

I've hit 190-195 on a couple of occasions (and it still kept pulling hard !) before running out of road. You should be able to hit 205 EASILY and 210-215 with some effort.

I found it heavy for the sharp corners (have heard others also say the same).

it's nice to hear a GT owner finally own up n admit that there are vibes about 6500RPM.

and no one's saying that's a bad thing.

Buddy, nice review. Short and to the point.

About the vibes, does it vibrate below 6k rpm too? and what kind of vibrations actually, from the body or from the engine?

Body. Below 6k not much, but it does get noticeable after that ! There is so much low and mid range torque that you will rarely be going over 7k rpm . Try taking a test ride and decide if you are cool with it ..

Bro i took its test ride and didn't check it over 6k rpm actually. I have booked one already and may be get a delivery within a week. Vibes are not a problem, if any part would not loosen up or fairings would not fall down.

TO ALL EXPERTS OVER HERE: Vibes are normal thing for higher cc bikes and SBK's at high RPM's or this is an issue actually?

As per my experience on inline four superbike[s], they never did vibrate. But the v-twins do. I think it is a character of the engine configuration itself.

                          • @xionite bro: It seems like you want everyone to say that GT650R vibrates.
I have not mentioned cuz I did not feel that in my bike. Or may be i am used to it..

I felt vibrations once when I drove the bike on soft sands to the beach shores. Engine was on mid rpm, The wheel was spinning and the bike was moving slowly, there were lot of vibrations on the handle bar and the body.

                            Update:

My bike has crossed nearly 750 kms. Not ripping more than 7k rpms.. And you really dont have to.. with the amount of torque it has.. Topspeed so far is 176kmph.. have touched 175 around 10 times atleast with ease. The bike really zooms there in no time in a twist of the throttle.. But now I feel that the first gear shift has become harder and is not smooth. The other gears are soft and cant hear a sound.

I was so used to half-clutch and after I got the bike when I shift to first gear there used to be thud sound. Later I practiced the habit of using full clutch and the gear shift was normal. But now(in past 3 days), I could feel that the (first)gear shifting is not so easy. It is hard and with a thud sound most of the times. Any inputs guys??
