ha! not really.Originally posted by men_in_jean View Post@xionite bro: It seems like you want everyone to say that GT650R vibrates.
I have not mentioned cuz I did not feel that in my bike. Or may be i am used to it..
the bike did feel vibey after 7000ish RPM when i rode it.
i was just saying...
see bold bit.Originally posted by xionite View Postit's nice to hear a GT owner finally own up n admit that there are vibes about 6500RPM.
and no one's saying that's a bad thing.

is it a thud or a clunk?Originally posted by men_in_jean View PostBut now(in past 3 days), I could feel that the (first)gear shifting is not so easy. It is hard and with a thud sound most of the times. Any inputs guys??
coz a clunk is normal.

congrats on buying what is my dream bike ....engine oil my friend...engine oil...change itOriginally posted by men_in_jean View Post@xionite bro: It seems like you want everyone to say that GT650R vibrates.
I have not mentioned cuz I did not feel that in my bike. Or may be i am used to it..
I felt vibrations once when I drove the bike on soft sands to the beach shores. Engine was on mid rpm, The wheel was spinning and the bike was moving slowly, there were lot of vibrations on the handle bar and the body.
Update:
My bike has crossed nearly 750 kms. Not ripping more than 7k rpms.. And you really dont have to.. with the amount of torque it has.. Topspeed so far is 176kmph.. have touched 175 around 10 times atleast with ease. The bike really zooms there in no time in a twist of the throttle.. But now I feel that the first gear shift has become harder and is not smooth. The other gears are soft and cant hear a sound.
I was so used to half-clutch and after I got the bike when I shift to first gear there used to be thud sound. Later I practiced the habit of using full clutch and the gear shift was normal. But now(in past 3 days), I could feel that the (first)gear shifting is not so easy. It is hard and with a thud sound most of the times. Got my Red GT650 R finally.....!!! Wohooooooo....
First a short story
:
I booked the bike from Radiant Lifestyles from Gurgaon and got it within 15 days. On this Wednesday i picked the bike around 11.30 a.m., and although my plan was to return same day to Jaipur but got late because of search of jacket and gloves from Delhi.
First day on bike was quite tiring, although i rode only 30 kms and rest my friend did. Its tough to settle up yourself in such new position so soon
, the super-bike stance. It was indeed good that i didn't return back to jaipur same day as i found some issues in the bike while riding it on Wednesday to Delhi. Its would be definitely tough to get those fixed up in jaipur later. Issues were vibration from front even on low rpm and rear brake making a lot sound.
I asked showroom people about fixing these and they told me to go to their workshop which is on the way from Gurgaon to Jaipur. Hysoung people are always so welcoming and helpful, appreciate. So i decided to get these fixed up while on my way back to Jaipur from Gurgaon. I went to workshop and they fixed both issues. Rear Brake was making noise as it was new and pads were sticking bit. Front vibration, well they fixed it up little bit , but actually their is no solution to fix this problem. All GT 650 R's front vibrates, more or less. They showed me a new bike, which was not unpacked completely, it was vibrating too at same low rpms.
One of GODS group member from Delhi was there to get some things fixed up in his red GT 650 R. He told me that vibrations are because of V-twin engine in it. And he also told me that i4's are much more silent than these. I felt good first time that i didn't wait for an i4 of 650 CC. SOUND is important man
I rode it back from Gurgaon to Jaipur, and i must say it was most exciting journey i had ever. I am not a tourer and neither have any such friends or group, those love to ride bikes for long distances or own any superbikes or even have passion for bikes like me. So yes, most exciting and most speedy one too for me.
Now the short review:
Everybody know a lot about it already. Being a newbie in riding such heavy bike first time, i noticed few things which i would like to mention:
Gear: First gear is too tight initially and makes a loud sound on shifting. Rest other gears are smooth. In first gear, you can go to enough higher speed without any vibration and loud sound. Good thing actually and obvious too. Same with second, but go little below 30 kms/hour and its over. Bike will stop with hiccups. In smaller bikes, second gear works enough good in standing positions.
Speed: Rev it up a little and you are on 100. Nothing can beat it. I rode bike from gurgaon to jaipur most of the time above 120 and touched 145 too, and the RPM was never above 5k
, as directed by hysoung people till first service.
Handling: Its great in handling, if you are in right position. Leaning is very important. If you will lean less, it would be tough to make cuts at high speed and even bike rear feels wobbling too.
Sound: I am lovin' it. Loud enough for my ears and ears of people around
. Not silent like I4's at lower RPM's, but it sounds loud which i like the most.
Looks: To be mentioned first, but mentioning last. Looks are breath taking. This babe is sexy. It's always awesome experience to ride it anywhere. People in delhi, jaipur, and gurgaon were staring at it like anything on roads. Girls, boys, uncles, drivers and even aunts were looking amazed, and were looking at it from their luxury car windows with open mouths. Even some merc and SUV owners tried to race with me, but no use, no body can leave it back.
Pride to ride
. Faced so many questions from bikers and car owners that i was just trying later not to stop my bike near anyone in traffic. Kept it bit ahead or at the end on all traffic signals.
I tried to keep it short but have so much to tell you people that i made it enough long
. Will share a lot more experiences of these two days soon, if people are not bored of me yet.
Sorry for less pics and that kind of pic quality. It was mobile cam. Didn't get time to click more. Will click some in coming days and post.Last edited by vikyk; 07-22-2011, 03:10 AM."Pain is temporary , pride is forever"

Congrats on the bike buddy
, looks really good and it was nice to read a good short review along with a few initial pics of the bike.
Surprised to note that the front vibrated this much at lower rpm's that it warranted your attention just after taking delivery because others didnt notice it, maybe you werent expecting them. The brake issue could be because of the new pads as said by the svc guys.
I-4's are silent at idle
, nopes, they have a smooth rumble at idle which increases to an orgasmic vroom once the rpm's shoot up.

Congrats Vikyk, Can see the excitement in you. You look as bulky as the bike
and it suits you really well. The helmet looks cool too. What were all the goodies they gave with the bike? Ride safe !

Well i am a newbie in this big bike scene so really dnt know much about how I4's sound a low rpms but as i got to know from people and from videos, i felt they sound less.
About the vibrations, i started feeling them after 25kms of ride and yes, i never expected those
Bulky as bike..lolz... Thanks for the appreciation and wishes.Originally posted by shelton_jh View PostCongrats Vikyk, Can see the excitement in you. You look as bulky as the bike

Congrats dude. Nice ride and nice write up.Originally posted by vikyk View PostGot my Red GT650 R finally.....!!! Wohooooooo....
We all love to read such exciting words, so keep them coming.
One suggestion,
Your helmet is no match for GT-650R.
At high speeds it will be highly uncomfortable.
Go for a nice helmet.

I agree with him. Even at low (high for non-GT-650R bikes) speeds of 100kmph .. the updraft (or down draft if you're crouching) on the front extension of your 'motocross' type helmet would make riding really uncomfortable. These type of helmets are made for off roading moto cross and the long lid in the front has a purpose for that. These are not meant for high speed super bikesOriginally posted by The Zmaniac View PostOne suggestion,
