I wish it were true bro.Originally posted by Ri$hiWouldn't the belt just snap off from the pillion's hands during hard acceleration?
@ExtremeRocker00 bro what is Your opinion about all this niggles with the duke. You have already said that You have dumped the baby ninja and You are looking for a naked bike this time. You being a prospective customer. Do You think You would be going for this bike. I can see that You are already having wet dreams about duke.
. But seriously speaking, there are quite a few things wanting in Duke 200 that may prevent me from going for it. I seriously wish Yamaha came up with something that was 200 cc or above because they make good looking, durable and refined bikes (if at all they make
). They are currently stuck at either 150 cc or the CBUs over 1000 cc. Makes little sense

Firstly, its a matter of perception. Duke, in my perception doesnt look that solid and sturdy as I would have wanted. Its compactness doesnt bother me but it overall gives me an impression of fragility. From the look of the newly bought dukes, I have hunch that 2 years down the line, they wont remain too refined and the durability is a question mark.Originally posted by Ri$hiI don't want to discuss about the Yamaha as it would be considered OT here.
Coming to the duke. Could You be a bit more specific, like what is preventing You from getting a duke.
Please enlighten our lives from Your knowledge.
Secondly, duke makes best sense when the rider has to really rip it. IMO, after using a Ninja for experiencing high speeds, I dont need a Duke that performs best at high speeds and also provides best mileage at the same.
People calling it a 'lifestyle' bike makes no sense to me. I would rather use 'frivolity', for the lack of a better word to define it.
Plus, lack of a pillion seat (if i may say), and other niggles repeatedly reported by our fellow brothers here have put me off a bit.

Yes it is the best street bike that can set the roads on fire and thats its sole purpose. I am not denying that.Originally posted by Ri$hi^^May be You can get a bigger bike for weekends and use this as a second bike for daily commutes. Don't You think that its the best street bike which can set the roads on fire?
And yes, if I'd have time and inclination, ideally I'd want to keep two bikes. One for commuting and the other for riding fast, particularly on highways.

The enlightening exchange for the last few pages has been great.
With no offense meant to both Rishi, ExtremeRocker, Maverick and others, I wonder, why is it that we try to convince non-believers. Each person is entitled to his own opinions and perceptions. The only sad part is that while opinion should come from facts and figures, it usually comes from perception.
If someone feels that a particular product is not worth it, that is clearly his opinion and others should not really take offense...unless they desire pages full of crap and an increased post count
Me and Rishi were at some sort of cool war in some other thread till we both realized that we were fighting for no reason..
As for me, I believe I made the right choice and got myself a Duke for city commutes and that occasional blast at my favorite mountain sections.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Always post a picture or a video if you are serious about explaining a issue and need help with it please, this makes it easier to understand and avoid false assumptions. It would also make a lot more sense if you can mention the total kilometers on the odo, number of service completed, how old the bike, a detailed description of the issue and where you are located.
If you fixed a issue please take some time to share with us what the issue was and how you went about fixing it.YES,it does make a big difference and your input is valuable.
Do not overly exaggerate a view or issue. For example - pillion seat is completely useless or headlights are of no good for night riding or Duke makes scooty pep horn noice.Thank you.Last edited by Bplus; 08-09-2012, 01:57 PM.

LolOriginally posted by extremerocker00Post some pics bro and then NiXTriX bro will fix your problem on snap of a finger.
If You are talking about the oil leak from the head. Even I experienced the same issue along with few other people. Search a few pages back. Its not a DIY that one can fix it at home. The head gasket needs to sealed by some solution. You need to leave the bike at the SVC. The SVC guys won't charge You anything for this. You are in Chennai. Aren't You. Call Gopal and inform him. I ll PM his number to You.Originally posted by Mayurk View PostGuys I'm from chennai and had given my duke for 1st on this Tuesday. I have the Helios been using it for the past couple of months.. it's really good for hot climates. Guess we should move this to the Riding gear thread.Originally posted by splus View PostThanks a lot!
I did a little research, and it looks like Spartan Helios jacket is a very good choice. I think I'll go for it. I already have DSG Nero but it's heavy and hot as hell, and baloons at higher speeds when vent zippers are open.
I saw at Contact Us - SOL Helmet India that Spartan has a reseller in GP road as well.
I'll see what helmets and gloves are available as well. Choice of a helmet depends a lot not just on quality but it can be quite individual depending on head shape and comfort, and available designs. Hopefully I find something "orangy" to match the Duke!
For the Duke, LS2 Crown (2.5K), SOL SX1 (4k), Nexx x30V ( 14k) and SOL Metal Man SL-68S II (4.4k approx) comes in Orange.... I have LS2 Crown... I will upgrade to a SOL soon... Prices in Chennai.
Mods kindly take a call if this should be moved to the The Riding Gear Thread

Doesn't Duke have 55/60W headlights? That's much stronger than most bikes that come with 35/35W.

Guys, will be taking the Duke to Leh, I know many have done it before on the Duke.
With regards to spares, am planning to carry only Clutch, Throttle, clutch lever, spark plug, headlight Bulb, a spare rim valve, tubeless puncture kit, air compressor ( battery powered ), pressure gauge, chain spray/clean + All tools necessary for chain adjustment.
Don't feel the need for anything else, however might carry some spare fuse as well. Anyone any inputs???
My offerings to the gods of speed -
- KTM Duke 200
- Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

I haven't been Leh'ed hence will not give advice on what to carry.. However, I know for a fact that there are spare fuses in each bike.. 3 fuses required are 10A, 15A an 30A if I'm not mistaken and a spare for each of this already present in the fuse box. Only 3 are used, the other 3 are spares..Originally posted by jd666 View PostGuys, will be taking the Duke to Leh, I know many have done it before on the Duke.
