Nice.. anyway KTM promises FE of 32 .. which is pretty good.
This is my observation on the FE part.
If you are using first 3 gears you will get FE of 20 to 25.. pretty evident during peak traffic hours
But if you are on gears 4, 5,6 then it can return a decent FE of 40+ ..
I covered 1600 kms on odo and 3000 Rs of fuel on shell premium..
Leaving aside initial odo and 3 liters initially.. this translatrs to 40 FE roughly
I am inclined to use higher gears mostly. Ofcourse not below 55 KMPH

Btw this question is for forum.. at 3.5 k rpm to 4 k rpm i feel vibrations on my left foot peg..
Does anybody feel this.. or i have an issue which i ahould look immediately
      Please help!

Even i face the same vibration from the footpegs, i need to look into that as the SVC doesnt have any solutions. They solved my issue with the front brakes making a karr karr sound.

@hunkofgals go to the SVC and run a diagnostic test. Seems like something is wrong with the ECU.

          • How much does the duke's head light doom cost?
I wanted to swap it with the stock ones on my RTR.

              they checked it
              no issue found

sometimes it starts with no throttle at single crank
that is during first start of the day

after that it needs throttle everytime i crank it up

Try giving a break for 10 secs after first attempt to start the engine and then start the ignition.. this works for me 100%
Ask your service guy to clean the head of spark plug.
Oxide layers or soot can disrupt the spark intensity.
Btw dont make it a habit to open trottle during ignition. This might lead to the above problem.

i guess i need to visit the SVC again

                  • Hello everyone! I was almost ready to buy the R15. But decided not to, after the test ride. My wrists started to pain just after five minutes of riding. Owners are telling that this pain will go as soon as I get used to the riding posture. But I'm not feeling very confident about it.

Back in December, 2012, I took a test ride of the Duke, just for the sake of riding it (as it was out of my budget). It was an amazing experience. Now I'm thinking of getting it, as I do not want to regret later.

I have a couple of questions regarding the bike.

                    1) My riding will be mostly in stop and go traffic, so what kind of FE figures can I expect?

                    2) In freeways, if I ride it sanely (60-70 kmph), how much will it return?

                    3) I'm a college student, so it should not be too heavy on the pocket. Can you please give me some idea about the maintenance costs, price of spare parts, durability?

                    4) Is there any problem, particular to this bike?

                    5) I intend to use this bike for at least 6-7 years, will it last that long? I will not abuse my bike and will service it regularly. Has anyone here, clocked more than 20k kms on their Duke?

                    6) Is there any extended warranty scheme provided by KTM/Bajaj for the Duke?

Is the R15 a better buy when it comes to mileage and durability?

                    Please help!

                    Thanks in advance!

                      28-32 kmpl

                      2) In freeways, if I ride it sanely (60-70 kmph), how much will it return
I've got 42 for sane riding(80-90-sometimes 100).60-70 will return similar or better figures.

                      3) I'm a college student, so it should not be too heavy on the pocket. Can you please give me some idea about the maintenance costs, price of spare parts, durability?
Regular service would be in range of 2-2.5k per 4 months.
                      4) Is there any problem, particular to this bike
Many, search through this thread, but the most irritating is urge to stare and ride anytime without any reason. On a serious note, heating in traffic is biggest problem.
                      5) I intend to use this bike for at least 6-7 years, will it last that long? I will not abuse my bike and will service it regularly. Has anyone here, clocked more than 20k kms on their Duk
                      n.a(im 8k on odo)

                      6) Is there any extended warranty scheme provided by KTM/Bajaj for the Duke
NO.The standard warranty is 2yrs/40k kms.
Is the R15 a better buy when it comes to mileage and durability?

Your call.dont want to start a duke vs r15 war.

I had r15 for 3 years and trust me its a fantastic peace of machinery, but when it comes to duke r15 is no comparison. I am myself thinking of getting duke and will buy it in 1-2 months. and about ur queries...

                        1) u can get anywhere between 25-35 in stop n go traffic depends how u ride( i used get 35 on r15 in mix riding)
                        2) in freeways u can expect more than 40kmpl at that speed
3)i am a college student myself and both duke and r15 would not be heavy on your pocket(duke's maintenance should be marginally expensive)
                        4) there are few small niggles but rest assured of ktm after sales service
                        5) as long as u maintain your bike properly your bike will serve you well
                        6) not sure about the extended warranty
ride both the bikes and then decide which suits you better.

Nope. The only condition for 1st 1000km is not to rev more than 7000 rpm. That's all I guess.

Hey, are you the guy who asked question regarding R15v2 and wrist pain on Yahoo Answers?

Anyways, as for FE, I ride in Mumbai traffic i.e. Stop and go and have been getting a mileage of about 35 Km/L.
On highways you will get better mileage of around 40 Km/L.
It's a low maintenance bike so wont be too heavy on pocket. Just do a proper engine break in and get the first three services done on time. Also lube the chain every 500Kms.
The major concern when you get this bike, but you get used to it after a month or so. It's not really a problem, such bikes are bound to heat a lot.
Six to seven years is too long to predict but yes, you should be able to use it comfortably for at least 4 years. KTMs are very well known for their quality.
No such scheme as of now, however you get 2 years or 40,000 kms of warranty when you buy the bike.
In terms of durability, yes its more durable than R15. Not sure about the mileage though.

                              • Got my bike back last saturday after more than a month. Rides sweet. Feels like nothing happened to it. But one month without the bike was a pain.
Now the repair costs : Rs 27500 .

Have claimed insurance, but don't know how much I'll get back. Metal depreciates by 10% and plastic by 50%. On top of that additional 20% on both because the bike is not in my name. Sucks big time. Anyone aware of any such clause in bike insurance products?
I am thinking of getting a zero dep insurance next time.
